I bought the Beebop 2 with the sky controller . Charged everything up , never flew it . Put it in the basement for about two years . I just got interested in drones again and charged up the drone but when I plugged in the controller nothing happened , no light or anything . I am pissed that I can not find a replacement battery ! Some people have the round batteries in their controller , those batteries can be found . I wish I never bought a Parrot , or at least I should have used it a few times . Lol . It is nice you found a way to make it work !
Thanks for the vid, just built a replacement pack and will now have telem... the orig batt appears to have an internal balance charge circuit, so that may be the issue with the original batt.
Another way around would be to create a home-made charger for the SC2, to avoid wrecking it. Seems feasable, the goal is to find a small power supply that produces around 12-14V power output with less than 2,7Ah output, and solder a small jack plug with + in the center.
The problem is nobody sells that battery anymore which is why I created the battery mod 👍 this mod has to help everyone operate on hobby grade batteries instead of proprietary
My objective is always to solve the larger problem before it becomes an issue for everyone what he came up with was just a temporary fix for a simple problem. I try to cut the head off the Dragon in advance so I don't have to deal with it later on
@@IFixShet hahaha justo ask me this is it really necesary the blue cable? It work yo me with out it But i can conect the blue want if You tellme why thanks for all good vid
Hey maybe you can help me I have a skycontroller 2 and my battery is totally different I got a deal on the controller but no way to charge battery I looked on the website no battery looks like mine
Superb mod, very handy to know!! 😎 If I were to buy a bebop 2, how would I know which version of skycontroller 2 it has? I'm guessing the first version has the better lipo battery setup? Is there any easy way to tell on the exterior without opening it up and checking the battery setup?
Great video, i have a 5300 3s lipo battery, and i have 4 leads coming of my balance lead, red, black, black, black so sould i tap the blue wire to both middle black wires?
Hello its possible charger the original battery with the original connector that will plug under the control? It is possible to adapt to use with a lipo charger thanks
The problem is you can't plug into the balance port on the battery that comes with the transmitter because it has a battery management system so when you attempt to do this it only charges one cell instead of both cells. there's a reason I hooked a lipo battery up to it the way I did
Drone Worship The Revolution im wondering why you had to wire into the balance port to get telemetry from the battery.is it because it wants to read both cells in order to use the battery to best efficiency. Or doez it need both for the voltage. Im an idot. Sorry buddy
@@SilverTopFlyer because the original LiPo battery for the transmitter was a balanced Port setup the charges through the controller instead of external charger you would need to hook up the power leads the same way about this plug would be set up to make this work properly
Thanks mucho my friend! I don't like being company controlled. I want flexibility. That's why I've always been an Android or PC user over Apple. I soldered up a connector harness to charge the BB2 batts on my hobby charger and this will complete the "liberation" from propriety dependency. You da man Dan! Thanks again.
Both TX and wing original Disco batteries are charged through balance plug with original charger where TX batt has balance plug only this is why you need both cells plug in to TX. Hobby grade charge wont charge batteries through balance plug only this is why you cant charge original battery.
Drone Worship The Revolution you are welcome. Question......does the center balance wire is a positive wire that carry 3.7v. If so, could the blue wire could have been connect to the main red wire that put out 7.4v or would that be too high of a voltage to operate that function on the controller. Thanks in advance for your reply Brother.

Jay Drone has a video on how to mod and balance charge the original sc2 battery.

@@IFixShet ...its a great mod though for when the proprietary battery eventually runs its course.

Excellent... I was about to search for this on the tube battery. But this is great.
Glad I could help there were no videos about this or how to do it at all so I went ahead and design the mod myself
Hi DW I just bought a bebop 2 today looking forward to using it. Thanks for the battery mod.
I would only do this mod if you are looking for some serious battery life or you start having charge cable problems
hi i just make a lipo upgrade but the sc2 works fine with red and black cable only, what is the function of the blue cable?

Great video! Do you do any side work? Parrot discontinued the sky controller to the battery and I need to mod it.
Awesome Dan thanks for sharing and figuring it out for all of us
You know how I roll
Great job Dan ! Makes sense , oh and I really like the new round screwdriver ! : )
Oh yes dimes always make good flat heads
@@IFixShet I got a text the Bebop I ordered for my son will be here tomorrow . I'll let you know if the chargers were included .

Nice modding, brother. Way to go on getting around that proprietary crap these companies use.
I hate proprietary
Do you have any specs for the original charger&plug which plugs in? If the management is on the battery, I'm assuming that the charger is dumb.
My original battery went bad. If I do this mod can I charge the battery in the controller or do I need a separate charger?
Just buy the original battery from parrot all of this stuff is unpredictable you never know what it's going to do

The version number is written on the back of the sky controller
Version 1 has the white band around the top of controller with the silver sticks. Version 2 has a black band with black sticks.

NO. this will short the two cells and cause a fire.
great video...you used 3000 mha whith 35 c discharge ?
Yes
Great video, always great info and mods

So whats the difference just longer time..?
How about only having to charge the transmitter once every 4 months lol
So can you explain why it wanted to be laced into the connection that way.... you know me my curiosity kills me
Hey Bradley can you explain your question a little better I'm not sure I understand what you're asking

Drone Worship The Revolution ok I see thank you im a noob when it comes to the electronics of the bms
I dnt wnt to cut the original battery..may i know the name of the plug of the original battery
It's not a hobby grade plug it's a custom plug made by parrot so I don't know the name of it
