To follow up on my earlier post, where I realized that I didn't have the right soldering tip or the skill to solder those four TINY, little USB terminals: I took the controller to a man deep in the soldering zone at Bridgetown Repair, in Portland Oregon. Adrian did all the requisite inspection and re-soldering very quickly and effectively, and for a fair price. I can now reliably connect the SC and phone with no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend this shop for anyone in the Portland area.
I need to know an important information to be able to load the skycontroller since it came without its transformer. In the round plug that goes in the skycontroller as is the polarity? positive outside? or positive inside. Thank you!
fixing for a friend as the USB port came away from the board so soldered new USB port in and everything looks fine but still won't connect. RC only charges phone/tablet. Any ideas?
Ian Bailey, use a magnifying glass or microscope if possible to inspect the traces to the connected legs from the board. Before that have you ; Tried a different cable/s Enabled developer mode (prompt usb) “androids” Tried different devices, tablet, phone etc If you did all that than check the traces on the board, check the two resisters beside the socket, and check the coil ha sent cracked it’s very small and all placed around the socket. If you can also get som macro (close up) photos of the socket that would be great. info (at) anthonyvlog (dot) com
@@ANTHONYVLOG Thanks for speedy reply will send Macro's later checked different cables, devices, and developer mode and ruled everything else out so a bit bemused at the moment.
Excuse me sir, can you show me the battery and the connector of the skycontroller 2? My skycontroller 2 has a battery very small. Can you say me whats voltage and cell has the battery?
If it disconnects on its own without you moving the cable or the phone than it is possible its just the USB drivers dropping the connection. Here are some cases where the connection gets dropped. 1. WiFi is left on on the device. (Both the controller and Phone are connecting to the drone, usually it drops the App and keeps the controller connected) 2. Phones USB settings may be conflicting. (USB mode to be in MTP / FileTransfer / USB Tethered. Enable USB Debugging if problems persist) 3. Phone battery too low. (Iv seen this happen on tests, as the current in the controller is not strong enough to charge the phone it drops the entire connection) 4. Physical Problem with either the USB port on the Controller/Phone or Cable. Hope this helps. Let me know if you found the solution, it may help others. Regards, Anthony
Thank you for the informative video. Is there any chance you cold show us how you soldered it? I'm looking at the USB on my board and I can't even tell if it's broken or not. Did you solder on the top of the board, or underneath it? Thanks again for your help
ewoid64 bottom for the big metal case, it had two prongs going through to the back. The top for the contacting pins (4 pins) they do not go through the board. Regards, Anthony
Thanks, Anthony. I've got it disassembled and am going to take it to a friend who owns an electronics repair shop to check its continuity and do any necessary soldering.
Thanks a lot Antonhy for the fast answer. I wrote Parrot but they also do not have it. I just need to know wich is the specific element that was detached to my skycontroller 2 to fix it. I really would appreciate if you can help me. See the pic here ibb.co/g9TmHo

ANTHONYVLOG At this point, I have to say a big thank you for you. I do not know any RUclipsr who uses so much for his community. Stay active, and do not worry about likes or subs. Great video,👍 I went to make a video for someone and realized I had no USB port I have never encountered this, it was a bit embarrassing 🤣I have changed a broken motor after a crash before, but this is a new ball game for me🙈my USB port has broke off, so I have opened it up following instructions on your video, do I need to buy a new USB port cause its broke off? I'm sure that's what you say on video but just making sure thanks..
If you can solder the broken bort back thats fine! But if the legs are completely toast than getting a replacement port would be best! Be careful with the little parts around the USB port area! Use a fine tip to solder.
Hey my sky controller is fixed, i ordered new USB online and my father in law soldered it back on for me, it is now working as it was before, 😊 thank you very much for the advice in your video, give your self a pat on the back' cheers again my friend 👏👌😊📽
This just happened to me today I noticed my parenting video was freezing when I went to fly today there was no connection at all when I looked at the USB port it was stuck on the cable it came completely out
Mark's Random Videos you could do the cables directly onto the pcb but you risk ripping off the pads if there is an accidental pull. Id suggest sorting out the socket as that becomes the breakaway point.

Hi Max drop me a few pictures on my FB Page so I can see what you are doing. For the tracks you can get away with a 25w iron and for the shielding may need bit more heating up before applying the soldering lead.
If its completely off, reinsert it and solder it. If the tracks on the board are damaged create jumpers to extend the damaged tracks. Refer to this video once you place it back on the board.
My port came off and fell out. I can't read the part number on your video. Could you possibly reply with the part number. I tried to get one, but it wasn't right and I can't figure out exactly which one it is.

great video, so if it is completely broken off then its no more good?
Max Knight that depends on the soldering skills of the person
would this procedure work on the Parrot Anafi controller USB-A socket...??
Yes the socket is the same and same principle of soldering the socket to the pads. The controller is different so the pcb layout will be different.

Ildefonso Sk2 has a 2 cell 8.4v at fully charged. Charging voltage 12v 3.5A Skycontroller 2P has a different battery, its a smaller battery.

Ildefonso the batteries are different, one is square shaped and the power uses a cylindrical lithium battery, with some updated internal components.

How many bebop 2 batteries you can fly after a fully charged skycontroller 2 is empty?
Leandro Ebner 3 Bebop 2 batteries, with a fully charged skyckntroller and fully charged iPAD. Less if the skyckntroller charges the phone or iPad.
