I can tell you are 110% comfortable with driving the heck out of any Miata. This car looks like it handles great , sounds a bit loud , but really good.
But I mean how complicated do you think a Miata is to drive ?
@@mbank3832 mastering any car is hard, a lot of the times you haven’t mastered a car even if you tell yourself you did, topper has owned Miata’s forever so he’s super comfortable with them

To be faiiiiiiiir, new cars can easily have their hang tuned out. Yeah it's shit. But easily removable if you're modding it anyway.

no mx-5 generation suffer from rev hang. Even the newest ND Miata does not have rev hang. No need to have "old car".
4:14 - 4:40 put a huge grin on my face. Hilarious, flips the switch to the higher boost map and pulls noticeably harder. So cool.
5:16 this is my absolute favorite part of owning a Miata. Top up to top down in 3 seconds

You said it. This is the perfect power level for a miata. You can wind it out and make it work for it but not too hard. Fast but not too fast. Just right. That's what it's about. Really a thing of beauty when well executed like this.

i've had my gr86 for a 2 weeks now and I am currently trying to sell it for a new miata. All these RTV warranty issues are putting me back to the nightmares I went through with my 2015 Subaru Sti. I also miss my NB Miata. Funny to see different people going different directions with both of these cars. Best of luck!!

If you’re ever find yourself in Massachusetts specifically near Boston, I have a car that would be interesting for you to drive. A 2013 Honda Accord Coupe 2.4 I4 6MT. 0-60 6.6s so it’s fairly quick and fun to drive. Hits VTEC like a champ!
i'm not sure how he did the double map, but i'd wanna do something like that. probably one for 180, the other for 240+. daily & "you shall not pass" car
200-250 horsepower seems like the perfect amount for a Miata, any more than that you'd sacrifice driveability and reliability. things start breaking
I wish the 2.5T skyactiv could be given to the Miata. 250 HP and 300+ lb ft.

ND2 + BBR super 220 kit is my dream Miata. Keep it na but Imrove redline to 8k improve hp and the torque curve is great.
I would take this raw experience with cable throttle OVER a GR 86 any day!

I've never seen somebody drive a manual so smoothly. Like 6:22 was so smooth
What's smooth about putting the gear in neutral and wasting the poor fellas "track pads" when he miscalculates the speed and makes the brakes work harder because there's no engine braking?
All in the clutch work. Slip the clutch for just a short moment as the rpms fall during a gear change and the rpm will synchronize perfectly before any significant engine load is applied to the drivetrain again. Removes the herky jerky feeling, saves drivetrain components and bushings, and doesn't really affect clutch life much.
Basically, just don't let the clutch out so fast during gear changes.
Better off keeping this instead of swapping for GR86 (in hindsight)

Curious. Why the tall shifter?
Helps on track a good amount, being close to the steering wheel. I also don't love short shifters, I prefer a modest throw length as it makes it slightly easier to get into gear.

I LOVE my NB. Best car I have ever owned and nothing in the future will ever come close. I have had brand new cars that dont even do it for me. My new GTI has to sit outside because my NB gets the garage spot! :D I love her
My friend, try 90s Hondas. Civic, crx, integra, prelude, del sol etc. Honda does 5 speeds really well. I know what you're saying, you're chasing that very particular "click" into gear. I have a na Miata. And I've owned 3 5 speed Hondas from the 90s and driven others. Trust my judgment

It's Patty Boi! What a cool colab. I started watching his channel for all of the good Elantra N content he posts with his brother!
I had MX5 of this kind. It can be very quick car but in order to be quick it needs as must semi slick tires, improved brakes calipers etc and suspension.
Still one of the only cars that compares to the S2000 in terms of fun factor on the road.
Any thoughts on a build like this vs a stock ND? As a second car

Of all the Miatas, the 2nd generation is probably the most well regarded one. I remember Car and Driver reviewing this car, they loved it. It defeated the Toyota MR-S.

I didn't have an issue with that, if I remember with my IC piping I fed it through the power steering lines somehow. I had to weave it between a couple to make room
