Trip down memory lane for me. I owned a Mk 2 1.8i MX-5 for 15 years. Only had to get rid of it because the family size grew past the number of seats. I didn’t mod the car at all, but I absolutely loved it. You’re right about the tendency to rust though… mine was starting to show rust all over the place by the end. Checked it on DVLA the other day, it’s still out there more than a decade after I sold it, so the rust was clearly sortable…

What a lovely lady. I had a feeling the comment section would be all about her, and not the car. After leaving the UK in 2003 I sometimes get nostalgic about my country of birth, but British people like this make me feel glad I left.
My stepdad was so sad when he sold his 1999 MX-5. It even had a chrome luggage rack on the back and a nice wooden steering wheel, plus it was painted racing green! Unfortunately he only drove it a handful of times a year, so it cost way too much in insurance and maintenance for those few hours of fun. I drove it several times and enjoyed it massively. The thing basically had the same power of a BMW 316i but weighed 500 kg less! That combined with the low ride-height and the tiny shifter made it feel like a go kart. So much fun! They don't make cars like this anymore.

Your peak power is at 7K - keep that pedal pressed to the metal! 3. Organise a car meet in that car park and invite that resident along ;)

I actually like the look of the car - including the head lights. To me it always looked like a little japanese version of the very first Dodge Viper. Like the Toyota MR2 had some resemblance to a Ferrari F348 or 355.

For your scratched bootlid I'd really recommend Chips Away. They have saved me from major (expensive) resprays so many times. Seriously, the repairs are invisible on all the paint finishes I've had. They do wheels too. And they come to your house

I doubt you're based in the North, but on Christmas Day of all days, someone kindly keyed the entire drivers side of my four series. BMW quoted about £2k to get it done. Found a local firm called Kiwi Colour, who come to your house and do the job for you. Full Estoril Blue respray and whatever other magic they require, as well doing as a small bumper scratch (probably accidental vandalism at a festival, BMW quoted £1,200). Whole job cost £310, and the chap was super lovely too. Legends. Fully recommended if you're Leeds/Yorkshire based.

Thank you for this video. I'm slowly getting into the tuner car scene, and my grand dream car would be the mk4 supra. But since i'm still kinda young (student) and can't really afford that can i. So i started considering the miata, and a lot of people are calling it really fun, and this video helped me a lot so i get to know the pros and cons of it. So thank you very much for it.
