MPK Mini MK2 Editor Tutorial | Map your Pads the old way! | (Use 'MPC Beats' for MPK Mini MK3)

  • Опубликовано: 7 янв 2018
  • 2021 UPDATE: This tutorial is for the MK2 (that means 'Mark 2' or basically 'second edition of') version of the Akai MPK Mini and the (bad and confusing) editor program that works with it. If you have the MK3 (newest) version of the MPK Mini, I'm pretty sure you'll now use the new program by Akai called MPC Beats to do all this stuff:
    • MPC Beats | Setting Up...
    I haven't used any Akai devices or software in over a year so I won't know much about the MK3 controller or MPC Beats, but that official tutorial above seems to get you started and might even work for your MPK Mini MKII, nowadays. Let me know in the comments and I'll update this video information to reflect that it may be obsolete. In any case, I would recommend skipping this video if you have the MPK Mini Mark 3!
    For those of you with the MPK Mini MK2, who don't wanna use MPC Beats, and wanna do it old school with this good ol' piece of shit editor, welcome:
    We're taking a crash course on the MPK Mini MKII Editor for the MPK Mini by Akai. This editor is really gross when you first look at it but I'll help you get all the basics down to learn how to edit and set up your own custom mappings for your pads, knobs, arpeggiator, etc!
    I made this video out of frustration a couple years ago IN ONE TAKE because I didn't feel like editing, so it's a very rough video and I cringe when I watch it because it's technically a bad tutorial lol. I was really anxious after ending the recording because this was like the 10th time I made the video and I just kept starting over cus I didn't want to edit anything. That's mostly why I didn't make more videos in this style because it wouldn't have been good for my health 😂
    Also, do not pronounce "Arpeggiator" like I did in this! It's wrong! But I know this helps people who like videos in this style who still need help learning the MKII version of the Akai MPK Mini.

    For people who are still struggling:
    -If your editor keeps crashing, you're probably running another MIDI program on your computer.
    -Make sure you're using the right software: the original mpk mini and mpk mini mkII have different editors.

    For about 9:15 instead of getting the info from fl and trying to map it in the app, there's a learn feature for FPC that automatically maps it in flstudio (maps it to the pad instead of vice-versa). Great video.

    • @lukestardoinstuff1237
      @lukestardoinstuff1237 6 лет назад +1

      Is this learn programm inside of flstudio or inside of the akai programm ?

    • @statiksky1
      @statiksky1 5 лет назад

      FL's FPC by default is general midi standard. So if you load a midi file into the piano roll of the FPC it will work. Your kick and snare of the FPC will match the midi file. FPC does allow you to map to controller. By doing that it will no longer be mapped to general midi standard which is annoying if you already have a beat that you want to add to. No a good work flow to operate like that.
