I just bought a mini mpk3. Everytime I hit a key it repeats its self. I’m not able to hit a full chord with out it repeating. Any settings I can use to change this
@@rudypiedra9131 yeah that's an easy fix , the button labeled NOTE REPEAT must be on for you , it's back lit red , and when it's ON the tap tempo button flashes , does just toggling NOTE REPEAT to off fix that issue ?
I have to thank you for literally being the only source I could find on how to get this damn editor software working... Shame on Akai for making this such a convoluted process... going to their website is absolutely no help at all, and without your video I don't know how anyone would ever figure out how to install the proper editor software. I am completely brand new to all of this technical stuff. I always played guitar and drums and bass and stuff but I've never tried recording myself or making beats and messing with the tech stuff and I've gotta say this video has helped me out. I'm still confused a bit on what EVERYTHING exactly means but it has helped me get a good ground basic of what everything is. Thanks man
i have owned a mk3 for a year and just found out i could do this. after going thru the hell that is getting the software, i was greeted with confusion. this helped a lot, it will make me use my midi much more! much love
Worst software I have ever used in my life. Inconsistent model numbering, naming sets the stage for massive confusion from the start. It's pretty much guaranteed that the version of software being reviewed doesn't match the version that the viewer has.
Thanks for this video - the Editor software ranks pretty low on the "intuitive" scale in my opinion. Appreciate you taking the time to show how it works.
For anyone who isn't seeing any response in the Midi Monitor when pressing pads/keys. Try another USB slot, I think you need USB 3.0 or something, idk. Atleast when I plugged mine into a different slot it worked 👍
What happened to the Pad CC's mode of Momentary/Toggle? That was one of the great functions of the MPK MK2. And it would have been great for the Absolute/Relative option to reside wholly on on the MPK. That would mean the Relative mode would have each knob store the current values onboard. Changes to knobs would be stored so that onboard program changes would not loose the knobs previous values. That would solve any issues of synths not having the relative option built in. Matthew Stratton, if you hear anything like this in the works, I would like to know.
Absolute life saver thank you for this extensive tutorial wow. Just bought the MPK mini and this helped me so much in mapping with my ableton live set especially with channel seperation and CC mapping.

Thanks for the vid, super helpful! I just upgraded from the mpk2 to the mpk3 and learned there's no option to have the pads set to toggle anymore!!?? This is a bummer when using the pads for transport controls.

Hi Matthew, really detailed video on the software. But I have been constantly facing one issue with the pad mapping on the CC mode. I cannot seem to use 'Toggle' for the Pads to use it for looping. This was available on the mk2 though. Is there a way to do it on mk3? The mk3 software is just missing the Toggle/Momentary option for the pads.
Thanks for the great in depth video's on the MK3. I have seen some pretty bad ones (even with almost 500K views) that completely miss the point. For one, just the quality of the pads and continuous controllers in combination with the 8 programmable banks make this a steal at that price. Secondly, this keyboard is a particularly great partner to all those MPC One and Live owners out there. Interposing the MPC One between this keyboard and my analogue synths also makes up for the missing midi out option.

For everyone not knowing where to find the software, you find it in the software launcher (the one where you got the grand mini and mic beats). Click the settings icon in the corner and tick "show advanced software". Then you should find it

I cannot believe Akai omitted momentary and toggle modes from the pads inside the Editor. I mean apart from that this controllers kicks ass but without the toggle mode is a total deal breaker. I try to contact Akai about this but they have not included mk3 on the gear that you can ask them about . Has anybody found a way around this?

@@purpleheart69420 well i sold the mk3 and kept my mk2 cause it does momentary mode. The pads on mine are even worse for finger drumming although i dont finger drum that much. Yep these are shit....no way around it. From what i gather only the ones on mpk 249 are quite good

As a complete newbee, it would be easier for me to understand what you are talking about if you were providing sound samples...sound is essential to learning anything with music...so, if you could provide a different type of tutorial, using sound samples, I would appreciate that soooooo much. Hello.. I have an akai mpk mini 3. Why can't I download its software? And when I log in and then they send me the program on the email when I log in to download it shows me the word 403 - forbidden .... I hope you solve the problem because I did not use the device because of this error
Just got mine and could only find software for mk2 on the site. You need to register the product and then install in music software or sth. The program editor runs through that! 🎉

They ones that came with it should be on your computer when you install it. At least I used to see them when I was making this video. You just got to load them up in the software.
How do the numbers-CC, PC, etc-relate to a DAW? Your video makes a presumption of prior knowledge. I for one, am clueless on step by step how to use the features you mention.

I've downloaded mini software manager ,but when I'm trying to download the app including Mpk mini Mk3 editor the app won't download ,a massage pop out mpk manager encountered an error and can't process the request,what shall I do ?
I bought my MK3 2 month ago and I returned it because I could never get the Editor. I called support and made several seevice requests. I even uninstalled, downloaded and re-installed.
thats cray, program one program 2, (alternating on the pads tho?) obviously no drums affiliated with that if your going to be making beats and seeing your edits on the mpc interface.

Yes. I often see CC also meaning "continuous controller". The reason I chose the tern "Control Change" is to stay consistent with the terminology Akai Pro uses in their manuals. Issue with using the terminology "Continuous Controller" in this video for me is because in other Akai Manuals, like the MPC One/Live/X manual, Akai Pro define Control Change in their glossary as such: "Control Change (Controllers) MIDI messages enable you to manipulate the behavior of a sound generator to a significant degree. This message essentially consists of two components: • The controller number, which defines the parameter to be influenced. It can range from 0 to 127. • The controller value, which determines the extent of the modification. Controllers can be used for effects such as slowly swelling vibrato, changing the stereo panning position and influencing filter frequency. " -Source is Akai MPC X, MPC Live, MPC Live II, MPC One, MPC Touch User Guide, Manual Version 2.8 When Akai references CC number in the manual Akai uses language as such: "CC Number: This determines what MIDI Control Change number the button will send to the software. " and "Control Change: Select this option to show only MIDI CC messages". Furthermore, when I connect my MPK mini MK3 up to my MPC Live and use MIDI Monitor and turn a knob it says "Control Change 70" as an example. And when turning that same knob and using the Midi Monitor in the MPK mini editor it says "Control 70". So that is the reason I used the term "Control Change".
Do you have a file that I could import? Love your work. So I was just wondering something : I programmed some midi for Traktor pro. So stoked about it. It saved me money on a dj controller. But now it doesn't work at all in Mpc software. Not well or near well. How do I keep them separate?

Make sure you are sending clock out to your keyboard. Press play in FL Studio first and make sure FL studio is set to send.

Do I have to re-map it in Logic all over again? And do you know if there's a way to create a map preset I can save so I don't have to redo it in each new project? (except for CCs I add as I go, of course)

I don't understand the K knobs , if I use mpc beats the knobs all work and are what they say on the keyboard. I go into Abelton and they don't do anything ? I just want them to do what they do stock
Little correction here. I'm pretty sure CC stands for "continuous control" and not "control change".
Yes. I often see CC also meaning "continuous controller". The reason I chose the tern "Control Change" is to stay consistent with the terminology Akai Pro uses in their manuals. Issue with using the terminology "Continuous Controller" in this video for me is because in other Akai Manuals, like the MPC One/Live/X manual, Akai Pro define Control Change in their glossary as such:
"Control Change
(Controllers)
MIDI messages enable you to manipulate the behavior of a sound generator to a significant
degree. This message essentially consists of two components:
• The controller number, which defines the parameter to be influenced. It can range from 0
to 127.
• The controller value, which determines the extent of the modification.
Controllers can be used for effects such as slowly swelling vibrato, changing the stereo panning
position and influencing filter frequency. "

When Akai references CC number in the manual Akai uses language as such: "CC Number: This determines what MIDI Control Change number the button will send to the software. " and "Control Change: Select this option to show only MIDI CC messages".
Furthermore, when I connect my MPK mini MK3 up to my MPC Live and use MIDI Monitor and turn a knob it says "Control Change 70" as an example. And when turning that same knob and using the Midi Monitor in the MPK mini editor it says "Control 70".
So that is the reason I used the term "Control Change".
Do you have a file that I could import? Love your work. So I was just wondering something : I programmed some midi for Traktor pro. So stoked about it. It saved me money on a dj controller. But now it doesn't work at all in Mpc software. Not well or near well. How do I keep them separate?
Akai MPk Mini Mk3 editor is missing two options which are
1.Toggle
2. Momentary
They were in mpk2

@@lexgeorgoulopoulos2372yes i even mailed this issue to akai customer services and even they don't have ny clue. Guess we eill have to wiat for them to figure out and patch it in their next update
