I own a 1988 Iroc which has (mostly) an identical motor only mine is TPI but this helps a lot. Mine hasn't locked up but I noticed when I changed my plugs that it was trying to lock up and I haven't had to change one yet so this helped a lot! Thanks! Don't let my username fool you, I'm female. 😁
MotorScotti yes you would but in this case it’s so old that it has stopped working in some time and it was never hooked up when I bought it and I would have to upgrade the whole system to convert to today’s standard
@@juggalo450 you don't have to upgrade the whole system just make sure their are no leaks make sure to get new fittings and get some r134a and estrol oil and you're all good im a proud owner of a 1988 pontiac trans am GTA
Mines a 91 firebird formula and there no air coming from the vents only the air goes through the defroster when I turn it on do you if it’s the air compressor or some relays fuses?
And like you said they don’t make the r12 anymore so it’s gonna have to be converted anyways when I buy a new compressor and refill it with the refrigerant r-134
If you haven’t converted to the new lines yet then you won’t be getting anything until you upgrade your ac lines and recharge but if you did all that check your ac blower motor is it making a weird noise coming from the glove box?
@@juggalo450 My current issue are my fans not coming on haha turning on the AC doesn't turn either of em on and neither does the car getting up to temp. I know my relays are good. I'm assuming it must be a bad fan switch. I'm gonna change that soon to find out. Im curious though. I have a bad AC compressor. I'm pretty sure it had a bad leak somewhere and it must be empty now cause it cycles on and off every second or so. If its empty and not working, would that prevent me being able to turn on my fans with the AC?? I read somewhere something about needing a certain amount of pressure for the AC to kick the fan on??? Its a 91 Z28 350 L98 TPI
Erick Quintero means that if you plan on running no ac in the summer then u can don’t have to have the hook up just having a ac that free spends that doesn’t require it to generate ac
Straight to the point. No filler content. Thank you!!

Yes she is female, but i do all the work on the car and I am not female.
see the round plug in the back, my new one has a lock ring in there, how do you move the plug over to the new compressor
Looking for the answer to that myself
Thanks for the video. Would you normally not have to drain the AC gas beforehand and refill it after the installation of the new compressor?

@@dylanstallings5891 so put oil in with the r134
What did you do with the plug wire from the back of the old compressor?????? I see there is not an insert on the new one.
Exactly what I've been trying to figure out, any updates on your find?

Don't forget to make a video of the whole conversation 😁
I got some bad news I sold the Firebird a month ago 😞
The 2 Sensor do it need the one in the back of the compressor to work, cuz got a new one without the sensor in the back.
If you plan on running no air then it should be okay cause you must got the one that free spins are u doing a ac cutout?
Yea mine doesnt have one either
@@juggalo450 what do you mean by running no air?

That is the pressure switch for your engine fans. You have to switch it over from the old one or buy new one
Did Convert to the new one?
I haven’t bought anything yet still working on it I do have a rusted fuel rail I need to repair
Is there a way to delete the compressor all together????
yes you would need to get a smaller belt to by pass the pulley or get one that free spins you can pick it up at any auto parts place
Can you tell me what the torque is for the bolt holding the compressor hose assembly to the compressor.
so we don't have to worry about it being pressurized
i ment to say wrench instead of rachet ughh i feel stupid
Give it a like for 2:17
