We live in Springfield, IL and I never realized that we hosted the Clydesdale sale. I would have been there just to admire all those fantastic horses! Glad you liked those old horse barns. As a kid, my Dad used to walk us through those stately old barns just so we could talk to and pet the horses. Your enthusiasm for Clydesdales is contagious. Thank you for the high-quality video of the sale and thank you very much for listing the horses’ names as well as their sales prices. Wouldn’t be nice if you could always keep those feathers that white? They are stunning.
Try the shire breed, black with 4 white legs and a wide blaze is my top choice, preferably 18h and up. But I have a grey shire that is ALL white. Very impressive

Buyers should be screened as closely as the horses. Way more experience and money needed in this case. Good hearted folks, but they're naive in every aspect of horse world. I can't take these videos serious. Meh.

I’m so glad y’all took the time to find him and share his story. He is a beautiful soul now! Thanks again, you have such a nice loving family. Nice to see these days. Keep up all your hard work!
Wow what beautiful Clydesdale horses!! Very impressive and will be dreaming of finding a great mare for Oliver 😊❤❤ Thanks for sharing the auction and meeting with followers!!
Enjoyed the show. Remember Brielle from the short a while back - she really was gorgeous. And that little one at the end that you had regrets about missing was super cool. Pity, but at the end of the day it's also good to keep your ability to say "no" to snap decisions in good practice.
@@Looiiish I am not a native English speaker. Docking refers to cutting off body parts of animals I think. Like dogs ears and tails and horses tails. When will they be ready to get outside into the pasture with the other moma's & their foal's? I can't wait to see them all together out in the pasture running, jumping & playing with each other!!!
Brielle is certainly a lovely lady horse. When the time is right I am sure if you want a Clydesdale mare for Oliver that she will come your way. It would be really nice if you could rescue one like you rescued Oliver. I hate to see any animal in such poor shape but it feels wonderful to watch you turn a horse’s life around.
JR, WHY would they be selling such a young horse #39?? Also Brielle(?) #55 was absolutely a gorgeous horse!!! Ceys Magnus was so good looking. You know the 1 thing that ALL horses seem to have in common are the soulful looking eyes!! So warm, so caring, so loving. I have no idea how anyone could an sell a horse after having raised it for 2 to 4 years??? I know you raise most to sell to their hopefully forever home, but it's got to be so heartbreaking. I've never seen an auction and I thank you for dragging me and others along. Ron
It's called an Egg Butt Snaffle, JR. Best bit to start any horse on, other than a Rubber Bit. Best Regards from a Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn 💖 🇨🇦
@Homestead Horsemanship Bull crap!! I've used them on stallions. Do it all the time!! He just wanted you to spend more money, that's all. But the Egg Butt is still a great bit to start Oliver in. It is a very gentle bit to use. I do suggest though this one thing. When you bit him up, don't put any creases where the bit sits. Let Oliver learn " To carry the bit" on his own", I don't mean let it be so loose he can put his tongue over it, but loose enough that Oliver has the responsibility of where that bit sits in his mouth. You will find you'll have an easier time of him 1. Accepting the bit, and 2. Being able to be very deliberate at first with what you ask of him. And once he knows what you're asking of him, you won't hardly have to move the line or rein at all, and he will respond in a heartbeat. Just a suggestion as that's what I do as a trainer. And I've been training horses for 50+ years for both riding and driving. Hope this helps JR. Remember, please, these are just my suggestions only!! So people out there don't get on me for how I do things. Every trainer trains differently. And you always have to have a Plan B, C, D, AND E, because every horse is an individual. I used to live near a family whose last name was Large. Years before I moved to the area, that family had raised Arabians and they had a decorative metal sign over their gate that read "Large Arabians". At some point, they had switched to raising Clydesdales. I thought it was so funny to see the "Large Arabians" sign and then see the Clydesdales in the pasture! Thank you! This video was just wonderful, my gosh! I think this was a training trip for you so that you can prepare yourselves for the future Clydesdale addition to your Stall. It will happen! By now let’s go back to all those dear horses and babies you left home. I’m missing news from the blond baby and mummy. How are they, still quarentined? And Oliver, how is he after doctors appointment? Legs itching are better.
Thanks for letting us tag along. I'd need deep pockets to go to one of those. Just to many good options to snap up. Glad to see it was a well programmed auction for Draft.
The cheapest shires/clydesdales I've seen in my country starts at like 5000/7000 euro's but mostly above 10... Brielle is a mare of my dreams, never could afford buying her here
@@bernadettecartin The Netherlands. No, as far as I know that's illegal to do nowadays... (Some Belgians/ Drafts still are, but they are bred in other countries) it's, I think, the same law that applies to dog ears and tails of breeds that are known like that. I was one of those horse crazed teenage girls, but now in my 60s, I started a small meat goat operation. Horses and goats - you want one of each color and pattern!
A great idea to look and learn about bloodlines when considering breeding Oliver. As with any breed, there are some that are better dispisition and conformation, color and markings than others. Always fascinating when ya get to tracking bloodlines! Is Brelles color acceptable for a Cydesdale? A lot of white......curious as to how they got to that color!
What a GREAT Family Adventure----educational and inspiring! LOVED watching all these gorgeous horses. Maybe you'll be doing something else with John in the future, seems like a good resource.
I love the Clydesdale! I did see one in the auction with a long tail! I have a lot to learn! Thank you for taking us along! Sure do appreciate you explaining things!❤️🐴🌻
She is a beautiful mare, i have never seen markings like this on any draft horses. If you are not the ones who adopted her i hope she got into a super good home that loves her and spoiles her rotten
I grow up in Illinois. I went to the Illinois State fair many times for many victorious reasons. I loved going through the barns for many animals. Horses, large dairy cows, jacks& Jennie’s, etc. The barns in my opinion have always been kept clean. I loved going through the barns with my Dad. He grew up on a farm using work horses. Some Clydesdales, Morgan’s, Percheron, etc. It was so exciting.
It is great that you got to see and evaluate so many Clydesdale horses at various ages and stages of development.. You have a much better idea of what Oliver's potential is through John and his research of Oliver's sire as well as seeing some horses with similar bloodlines. I sure hope Oliver makes a full recovery and that you are able to show him in competition. It sure would be great for all of us fans to watch Oliver grow and develop to become a winner and a sought after stud stallion.
I am shocked at how low the prices are on these Clydesdales!! WOW! I would think they'd be double the price at least. Absolutely gorgeous, magnificent gentle giants.

By now let’s go back to all those dear horses and babies you left home. I’m missing news from the blond baby and mummy. How are they, still quarentined? And Oliver, how is he after doctors appointment? Legs itching are better.
The Clydesdales are so beautiful ! Thank you for sharing the video 😊 !
This was so interesting!! Love learning more about Clydesdales. Thank you!! And congrats on 50k subscribers 🎉🎉🎉
Brielle is a mare of my dreams, never could afford buying her here
Curious. What country are you in and do they dock tails there? Thank you.
@@bernadettecartin The Netherlands. No, as far as I know that's illegal to do nowadays... (Some Belgians/ Drafts still are, but they are bred in other countries) it's, I think, the same law that applies to dog ears and tails of breeds that are known like that. But I have to look it up (was just going to bed, almost midnight, no clue why I only just now see this comment tbh.. but thanks for asking)
They all looked so beautiful
This was great! And it seemed like a nicer auction place. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my! I’ve always been a lover of horses. But ever since Sweet Oliver came along and now, after this video, I’ve been bitten hard by the Clydesdale bug! Such magnificent creatures! I hope that someday there will be another Clydesdale on the Rosa homestead!
Those Clydesdales are such majestic horses! It was wonderful seeing all of these beautiful babies. Thank you for sharing and I know that the good Lord will get Oliver his match when he’s ready.❤
A FUNtastic video. I fell in love so many times. Brielle(sp?) Was gorgeous. I'm glad you all got to go and had such a good time. Thank YOU for taking us along. Great camerawork Emory!!!
A Colorado Mountain Grandma USA 💜✌️💕🐴😁
I am seriously thinking that if God blesses me with the ability I would LOVE to have a couple Clydesdale they are just so gentle and beautiful!
I was one of those horse crazed teenage girls, but now in my 60s, I started a small meat goat operation. Horses and goats - you want one of each color and pattern!
The right addition will come when the time is right, be ready!
The Clydesdale horse brings to mind of the warhorses used by knights. Just beautiful.
Im from Sweden and read about a clydes dale breeder. They wanna save the race so its not dies out. Love that❤
A great idea to look and learn about bloodlines when considering breeding Oliver. As with any breed, there are some that are better dispisition and conformation, color and markings than others. Always fascinating when ya get to tracking bloodlines! Is Brelles color acceptable for a Cydesdale? A lot of white......curious as to how they got to that color!
I have watched this presentation 3 times and enjoy it each time. Thanks so much for sharing. They are such majesric horses.❤❤❤
Thank you so much for filming this auction. I have a Shire yearling and dont know much about Clydesdales, so this was interesting.
I would be heartbroken if I couldn’t get her. She so gorgeous her markings are outstanding.
Yes, we were too.
i had no idea clydesdales could be so sporty! these look like absolutely beautiful riding horses.
23:48 i like this gelding too!
30:40 also love this mare and foal
So nice to meet John and his information. Never mind J R next time ❤😂
Beautiful horses. ❤
I hope all these horses get to live a good life till the end!
