Congratulations, enjoy sharing your passions with your family. Your build isn't what I need but has been a huge inspiration for my 23 foot Harley Hauler build.
Kids change your life but you will look back when they become young adults and realize what a gift they are to completing your life. Enjoy your newborn son because you will blink and he will be in high school then you will blink and he will graduate university.
Interesting - You identified the baby seat as the design issue - I thought the design issue was simply the Ford Logo! Congratulations to you and your wife on the baby! If you look after the new truck it should last until your child's 16th birthday. All my Toyotas trucks have lasted 16 trouble free years - just follow the maintenance schedule!
Thank you, yes the baby seat is definitely an oversimplification of "issues" with the ford, but at the end of the day I can't complain. The ranger has treated me well the last 7 years! Thanks for watching.
I sort of joke about the Ford Logo - my favourite Graphic Designer (Massimo Vignelli) was commissioned by Ford to redesign their logo. He decided that it only needed a few minor tweaks to make it a bit more crisp. Vignelli and his wife were great designers. On another level I was run over by a Ford truck in 2014. The accident was horrific but at the end of the day I can honestly say “I am Ford Tough!” based on my recovery. One piece of advice - ditch the Good Year tires and get Michelin - they give a better ride and last longer!
Congrats on the new baby. That's awesome. I have a 2012 Tacoma and love it - 274K. I'll have to drive mine another 10 years before I can afford to upgrade to a 2024 -LOL.
Congrats Joel on both additions! By the way, my 2003 Lexus (Toyota) just turned 265,000 miles today. Still going strong. I love your truck! I'm anxious to see you take the wife and little guy on his first camping trip. Enjoy!
As someone with a 3rd gen tacoma, a kid, a dog, and a small trailer.. I would LOVE to see what you do to it! Particularly if you make it modular and removable to convert the bed back and forth as needed. Commenting for the algorithm.
PS: I've also got an ARE topper on the thing. Having a sliding window on it that matched up with the rear tacoma window, plus a small bike inner rube to seal it, has been absolutely amazing for the occasional times the dog needs to ride in the bed because of additional passengers. I've sealed the bed, tailgate, and topper fairly well, so now running the AC or heat with the window open as a passage between the areas keeps the topper quite livable for him.
Congratulations, enjoy every adventure in dad life and with your new truck. Looking forward to seeing how your hammock set up goes. The idea you have is very cool.
Congratulations on both new additions to your family. I don't think the Toyota is a mistake, but I might be a bit bias. I agree the camper shells don't seem to get much love but the versatility is amazing.
I just looked them up, although they look interesting I'm not sure about durability. Also would they support the weight of a canoe?! Thanks for watching.
Congrats Joel - on the baby and the truck! Your cargo trailer conversion (your architecture training sure showed!) was a big inspiration in my own trailer build and I look forward to seeing your truck cap modifications too!

Congratulations Joe
Congratulations on the little one! Nice truck!
Thank you
Way to go Joel, what a great choice for a truck, now it will not be complete without a "baby on board" sticker
🍼🍼🍼
I NEED a set of those hammock hangers that go under the tires.
Noted!

Same reason I had to say goodbye to my Ford Ranger 21 years ago 😂
Awesome truck Joel

Likewise! Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I have added lights, lift/ level kit to my tuck, engine mods and storage to the bed of my Chevy ZR2. Interested in your truck mods!
ZR2 Colorado was my second choice!! I test drove a bunch. I was trying so hard to convince myself that the 2.8l duramax would be a right fit for me.
Nice Truck Bro, I love it ! And congrats on having a little baby.

That's awesome thanks for sharing and following along. I've got big plans for this, stay tuned!
Looks beautiful !! The baby that is! The Taco??? . Just kidding. Congrats on both.

Thanks for the support! Let's make camper shells cool again 😜
Oh nice truck, I was worried you were going to get a ram lol
awesome channel, Joel. I can't seem to find where you talk about what wheels/tires you upgraded the trailer to. Love the color of your taco, man.
Check the Chuck Box video playlist on my channel, I have a dedicated video just on the wheels!
Have you considered the GetFlated trailer caps?
I just looked them up, although they look interesting I'm not sure about durability. Also would they support the weight of a canoe?! Thanks for watching.

Thanks for sharing Steve!
Any plans to get rid of the lame Toyota roof rack? Those things are worthless.
Will see how I like them, other priorities first. I do like the idea of building my own. Thanks for watching
