Here’s version 2.0 - ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.html Thanks Everyone! I never dreamed there would be so much interest in my little trailer. I love the built, not bought passion that so many of you have! Keep being original!
Check out Tinkers'adventure on his FJ! The solar panel would be a great replacement if your's goes out, it's a 400watt one, and then Eco's Solar review, its inside a FJ that is a Alternator charger inverter, which would be a nice addition for your trailer too. Just a thought for maybe upgrades for your trailer i think it would give you some more juice to stay out camping longer.
I've come to the conclusion that a cargo trailer build is a much better route to go on a limited budget vs an old used RV camper. They just don't seem to hold up and to me would end up being an endless money and time pit. This is a great video and you've given me a great many ideas to use on my build. Thank you for showing all the intricate details and showing how everything works so efficiently. Also, I was planning on a larger trailer, but this vid has shown me how a 6 x 10 would be just fine for me. I'm in Fl, but wish to visit the northern US and Canada so the cold weather info is greatly appreciated. Thank you from Pensacola.
Glad it helped! I loved my little trailer we have put 1000s of km on that unit! I completely agree the cargo trailer is a solid little unit that you can really work with. Also you can buy one used for a couple thousand bucks all in you can do this quite cheap. Since this one I added a bit of room on the back and sides. Here’s a link to version 2. ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=CxOUtDf0Gw50Eqd8
Very good observations! During Covid, my hubby & I stayed on our property in Coloroda by the Wyoming boarder. Everything was a chore & thank God my hubby knew what to do & how or it would have been freezing. It got down to 11 degrees & a diesel heater kept us warn however the slide-out let cold air in. I think u would be much better off financially & much more comfortable. You'd probably be better off on gas too! Best wishes! Take it easy!. 😊
As a single woman .. I sure wish I had the talent and ability to build a trailer like this.. you’ve created an awesome build…thanks for sharing this..I’m glad it came across my feed. Happy New Year and be safe,
Thank you so very much. We made significant changes to the trailer, please let me know what you think of them in this video ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=fWtQNBxe_ctYH0ky
Well today is your day gal! You can come help me and then both of us will be happy! I just got a 6x 13ft, 3ft of it is the tounge, a old Scotty camper I'm fixing to tear down and make a off road camper out of it. You xan come help me I don't mind and WEE DOGGIE and we willbe so happy! See there you woke up this morning and thought this was going to be just another Ole day and then here I come! GOD is so Amazing!!! So I will go ahead and heat the coffee water so it willbe ready when you get here. Thank you so much for being so kind for coming to help me!
Thanks, appreciate that! We are really happy with the trailer, though I am right now in the process of expanding the back a bit so we can sleep length wise at the back.
Thank you so much for showing your toilet and shower. Any cargo trailer conversion or camper of any kind really needs an indoor shower and toilet especially for us senior citizens.
Well I’m not that old but I 100% agree. After a hard day of hiking and exploring, I like cranking the heat getting everything all nice and toasty and having a hot shower. 👌
WOW! What a neat clean ORGANIZED build. You could definitely do any or all of this as an income maker. I have NEVER seen anyone’s electrical/plumbing systems done this neatly, and you have thought of everything as far as noise reduction, seasonal, ease of use.. you name it, you’ve done it. OUTSTANDING BUILD and an EXCELLENT PRESENTATION. Kudos and Thank You for sharing
I really appreciate it! Honestly though it’s just a collection of ideas I’ve picked up along the way. Glad now it can help someone else in their build 👍😁
You accomplished everything that I'm struggling to design for a 6x12! Look forward to reviews of your own setup, pros and cons (we all have them!). Thanks!
Check out my playlist I did my too favourite things about this trailer. Here’s my version 2 - ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=VcXwCLG3z_fNOuJz
You did a great job of fitting a whole ton of stuff into a really small space. You covered all your bases, especially when it comes to camping and temperatures that cold.great job😊
Wow! Awesome Camper Trailer very impressive. Lots of cleaver ideas and good use of space. You kept it very simple and easy to work. The water heater, the diesel heater and your battery box locations are very clean looking. I also like the (4) stabilizer jacks. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Thoroughly impressed. I have a 6x10 Homesteader. I am 60, widowed with some mobility issues. I have everything I need, however, I need to find a competent helper. I am working on it. I am a thin build but 5’ 8”. Your design and application gave me many new ideas. Thank you. Subscribed
Nice to have you along! You can’t beat the cost to build out a cargo trailer especially when you already have one! It sounds like you are on the right track…plan, plan, plan…. take the time to lay it out well you won’t regret taking extra time in the planning stage. Not too much weight on your hitch but enough that it tracks nice… Lots of great designs online, we do really enjoy ours. I’m upgrading it a bit now, we will see how the finished project looks…I’ll keep you posted. 👍
A friend of mine is doing a conversion, your ideas, especially with the shower, water heater and diesel heater are going to make a big difference. Thanks for posting.
Yeah you got it…. I know my wife is happy I have a shower 😜 I agree with the heaters…couldn’t imagine camping without one in winter. Thanks for the comment 👍
Really informative, thank you. I have a 6×12 I've always wanted to turn into a camping/motorcycle trailer but I have a 2500 diesel and the better half wanted more so I bought a 43' toy hauler. Now I am retired and the 6×12 is calling me again. Thanks for the ideas
Appreciate the comment! Thanks Yeah I can guarantee that little 6x12 is going to get you into a lot better campsites. But definitely not the comfort of 43’ 😁
Thank you very much quite the compliment. We did make some changes to the trailer u can see here ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=WwyWAyJXt4rB4FFW
You're a kindred spirit! I' ve built something with many similarities but on an 8.5 x 16 platform. I needed something to camp and haul my sxs. You've inspired me to put a video together of my own. Its great to see that there is so much interest in innovative solutions and creative thinking!
That sounds awesome. Send me the link when u do. I made major changes to the trailer in this video ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=15pdltZoiNXnQtOs
I’m absolutely amazed at how much you put into such a small space lol. My trailer is 27’ long and I think you have everything I have lol. And yours will probably go places mine won’t lol. Oh except solar panels which I dint have yet lol
I really love the details of your plumbing and heating config for the cold weather. I also really like your shower and deep sink. Thanks for showing those!
Nice build! If you want to make your windows into four season make a plexiglass insert to go inside. Did my truck camper and Class C like that. Worked GREAT and cuts down on condensation and icing!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR INVITING US INTO YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME, VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT, GOOD WORKMANSHIP AND TIDYNESS, BRAVO AND MANY LONG DAY'S USE WITHOUT ANY PROB'S FOR YEARS!
Thank you so much for the comment. We made significant changes to the trailer in this video ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=gm4ZeeiVvI0xrxZn
@@waysoutback I didn't catch what the extension for the bed is? Because you needed more length? Is it supporting the table in the center or just providing a longer sleeping surface?
We did a cargo trailer conversion also 7 x 16 we really injoy it i really like what you have done with y'all conversion great work and happy camping to the both of you
I made significant changes to this trailer in this video. ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=yMSU9SOtwOs3fbmA You will notice I actually changed the table. The one benefit of the poke in a hole type table is ease of sliding in to sit. One of the changes I made was no rear door, so I no longer needed a table to move and put outside. Let me know what you think.
This is such a well engineered build! It’s incredible how much you have fit in there. I appreciate the detailed tour and will look for a diesel heater with a metal housing. I like the table legs. I’m not a fan of the insert on the floor between the beds - tripping hazard. The table can be set up outside, nice! Too many good things to list. Well done!
Congratulations on building a great little off-grid winter camper! Watched every minute of your humble and informative tour. Thanks for sharing your creation!
Super informational and awesome build!!!! Just bought a trailer a little smaller and I want to make something similar out of it and I’ve gotten so much inspiration from this video!!!!!
Great build. I have a 12 x 6 with a V nose. I decided against the bathroom but may change it around. I made it for one to start with but had to add a bed for a passenger. I don't do winter camping and didn't need 30 gal tank. But don't have a shower inside either. We use 6 gal jugs for water supply and Grey water. Use of foot pump instead of electric pump. We have an ac window unit put into the wall. 500wts of solar with 800 amp hour lithium batteries. We tend to eat outside and can cook in or out. We do have a microwave as well and about the same sink. We are Arizona folks so the climate makes a big difference as to what you need Inside. I love seeing everyone's different set up. Love your 2 big windows. Great video and explaination.
This looks like a great build! I live in the south, so luckily I won't need all of the freeze protection. I plan on building a 5x8 conversion, just for kitchen and bathroom. We tent camp as a family of 7, too many late night bathroom hikes for my liking. This gave me lots of good ideas! Thanks. Liked and subscribed!
Glad you can use some of the ideas…. You will be really happy building your own you can add just what you need. I’d love to live in the south and not have to worry about the cold… it will make it so much simpler. 😁
That’s so great! I love hearing that others are ready to build. It’s a learning curve for sure, but we are so happy we did it. We use to have an older fibreglass trailer, which we loved but no comparison to our cargo. I created a guide to help eliminate the problems I ran into, complete with links where to purchase parts if your son is interested. Look forward to hearing how it turns out. waysoutback.com/product/how-to-guide/
Definitely pretty cool. I'm deep in planning mode for my own right now, it is a challenge, and definitely a fun puzzle. I'm trying to think outside the box with some features, it's definitely a great challenge. That's why I like viewing other people's ideas and tactics. Have a great day, buddy.
@MHLivestreams that’s awesome. It is a puzzle. What size trailer do u have? You can see the changes I made in this video ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=6mcpXeX_6RhNy9Cd
@@waysoutback I'll check it out, thanks. Bought a lightweight, galvanised al-ko chassis to cut down to around 6x10, fancy a 2' bath with shower that doubles as closet, light stainless steel sink, light stainless wood stove with heat exchanger for externally mounted, insulated water tank. Small back up propane, and want to eventually try making a 'quiet' small, single cylinder diesel generator to run on old oils for power and more heat scavenging, to compliment the solar and wood power in winter / in case of emergency or sheer convenience. There's a fair bit of room underneath that can be used cleverly too, so may give that more thought, this build concept is going ultra lightweight foam and fibreglass, an easily removable, modular pod style of system that can be used anywhere. That's the idea basis, although permanent chassis is very acceptable when all bells and whistles are in play! Have been collecting useful things like stackable 20 litre water containers recently, anything that is free, cheap, in good condition, and looks like it has a potential usage! You know how it is, trying to keep things light, practical, useful, functional, simple yet technical, and clever use of available space! I believe it's a resolvable paradox. 🤓✌️ Positive Nerd Power! Have a great day, fella.
I've been wanting to buy and convert a cargo trailer into a camper for about 3 years now, but have hesitated because of the concern over lack of usable space, if a bathroom was to be installed. I'd only use mine for perhaps a 3-4 day weekend, so now I can plan on using the space that the shower in your build takes up, to make an enclosed bathroom. Thank you for sharing this content - You now have a new Subscriber!
Used the trailer for a year and you know what you can change and do better. Completely according to your own needs. Everyone has their own needs. Greeting from Sweden. One that built many off-road cabins.
Yeah that’s the plan we are headed on a huge trip in a month I’m sure I will have a few bugs to work out after that. But it’s definitely nice building it just the way you want. 👍
You should add a roll up canopy mounted on the side taken from an old rv. You can find small ones that go over slide outs that would be perfect for your trailer.
You read my mind version 2.0 has just that! Cargo Trailer to Camper Conversion Tour: Off-Grid Adventure-Ready Oasis!" ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.html
Just a thought....make your “bed extender” a back cushion for the bench so you don’t have to open the exterior door to remove or put it away. Btw like your setup 👍
Amazing build! Love how far it's come since the original cargo trailer. It's nice to see you out and aboot, putting the thing to use! Ranger bolt pattern rims match standard trailer axles btw hint hint :) Keep up the great work, would be cool to do a collab sometime.
Thanks Joel! It’s definitely nice to move from the building to the using phase …. I can’t wait to put some real tires on it. Just got to wear out these ones first. Bought them back when I was using it for construction….. not so good off-road Yeah North Bay is not that far away… lets stay in touch! 👍
😂 You got it…. Some might say the only problem is you could wash your dishes while on the toilet. I’m expanding the trailer a bit I think I fixed those problems. 👍
As a fellow 6x10 owner, I really liked what you did. You did a lot more intricate work on it that I'm inclined to, but those are some great ideas. A couple of the downsides to our trailer is that it didn't come with a side door, and because I still teach scuba diving most of the trailer space is necessarily taken up with our compressor, tanks and student gear. I've got a video tour of ours on my channel. Since there's no room for us to have benches or a bed, I used the idea from Gonagin' RUclips channel to create two removable pipe berths. I was actually surprised how comfortably I slept in it...even with two of our dachshunds sharing it with me! I'd like to replace our big cooler with a 12v compressor refrigerator, but we don't yet have battery capacity to handle that (100ah hybrid gel is what we have). Eventually would like to bump up to LiFePO4.
Finally a camping trailer that anyone with some skills can build without spending tons of money. Everything is basic and useful. No money is spent needlessly. I like the design and layout. As a Canadian out in BC I have always thought about building a unit like your. Thanks for the show and tell.
Thanks for the comment that was the goal… function over shiny. I firmly feel it’s the best way to go… just build it yourself. You get just what you need
Thank you so much for doing a step by step detailed video of your build. I just started my second cargo trailer conversion 6 x 12 ( just sold my 1st one, 7 x 12) I'm like you, I need something a lit'l smaller & more ground clearance. I'm going to steal your idea the way you built the long cabinets. Where did you get the gas struts for the cabinet doors? My concern is getting the right size. Okay thanks again. This video is going to be a great help for my current build for new ideas...✨
Glad it helps a bit 👍 The struts I just got off Amazon. I’ll throw a link in the description box…. You need the light ones. I ordered 3 different sets before I found the right one. I think they are 4lbs
Very nice build, I'm picking up a new 6x12 Fast Cargo trailer this Saturday to start my build, Looking forward to getting started, you have some excellent ideas well thought out.
Right on it’s always exciting to start a new build. My biggest recommendation is plan plan plan. Especially with weight distribution. Glad my build helped a bit. My latest build might give you a few ideas also it’s closer to the same length. ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.html
Really nice build! I was just curious about the diesel fuel line, serious question I was wondering if there's any chance of the diesel eating away at the "garden" hose. Other than that one question, you did an amazing job!
Thanks! There is actually a hard nylon diesel fuel line inside the garden hose. The diesel doesn’t even touch the garden hose…. It’s just there for protection against sticks, rocks etc. 👍
This was very helpful and enjoyable to watch. As we too are in Ontario, and have had many camping trailers in time. We are now looking to build something similar as yours. One question comes to mind, the diesel heater im sure gives lots of heat, did u not think of a propane heater, or would the lack of wall real estate be a stumbling block.
Sure I’ll give you my two cents…..A few things to keep in mind. If your doing propane RV heater then no problem but if it’s a non vent you will get a lot of condensation buildup inside…. like a buddy heater. I’d highly discourage that kind of heater…. I ran one for awhile and the condensation was dripping off the walls, it was terrible. Another thing I kept in mind…. I had propane give me problems below-20C seems to freeze at times… I knew it could drop extremely cold so I had that in the back of my mind. Also in my research the diesel heater draws less current. If your doing campgrounds with hook ups then I’d definitely just use a RV propane heater… if your doing a bunch of off grid camping with spotty solar… then I think a diesel heater is the way to go. Hope that helps They also make very reliable quality diesel heaters… I think they are made by wabasco… but I have no experience with these.
@@waysoutback yes I agree. The Wabasco are top notch, but obviously very expensive compared to the Ebay Chinese heaters. And yes the condensation is not a good thing, had an Aliner for ten yrs or so and even with a vented propane Atwood furnace, condensation was awful. Anyway. Great stuff. Thankyou for your timely response. I have subscribed to your channel.
@@brmelectric thanks appreciate it 👍 The diesel I think does a great job drying things out… I know I’ve heard of some horror stories with them but I believe a good percentage of the problems are due to a poor install. If done right and maintained… not letting old diesel sit in it etc I think they should work well… I’ll keep you posted. 😁
Thank you so much. We do love camping year round, so it was important to have something that would be comfortable in the cold. I made pretty big changes with a very important element for winter camping in this video. ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=isYtE6KMsbkm8mDd Let me know what you think about the changes.
Just stepping up from backpacking gear. The priorities are that you sleep well, eat well, relax well and what must people miss, transport well. Anything other than that and you are overdoing it. All about efficiency.
I use a 6x14 cargo trailer. It is insulated, has a mini wood stove, direct vent heater and window ac unit for the summer. It's also got portable solar and 2000 watt Honda generator. I can use it to haul stuff, I can also use it with cots and folding furniture. I would never buy a designated camping trailer.
@@jimsteele7108 sounds perfect. It’s definitely the benefit to going with a cargo trailer. You can make it just the way you want it! 👌 I’d love to have a little wood stove in mine I’m envious!
Very nice. You set it up to enjoy outdoors both winter and spring. Not designed to live in but a. Rey good getaway rig. Kind of inspired me to make one. Simple and less expensive. Thanks for sharing.

I LOVE IT❣️ LOVE IT ❣️ I have a white trailer But no windows or doors. One large door that drops down in rear of trailer. I would love to find someone as brilliant as you to do my work. Amazing ❤❤❤❤ Everything is Perfect🥰 Thank you for the video👍
Right on glad to hear your building one… I really think it’s the best way to go! Glad you liked the tour! Yeah I tried the No shower thing… after a day of snowshoeing thru the bush I’m quite happy I got it. 😁👍
Great job,I built something similar/6’x12’-61/2’Tall.8’ kitchen/bath/Closet//wall//4’ carpenter tools.Pulled it with 4x4 Ford van.It was my bedroom/ nice thick comfortable foam-Down sleeping bag.My business was …Have tools will travel.Mostly worked for a company that built fast food restaurants.I kept the rig very clean/ professional, so I would not attract trouble.Again GREAT JOB-Much respect.
Thanks! Yep nice and simple…. Works good for my brain. 😄 It’s also nice building it yourself because if something does go wrong you can figure it out so much easier!
Neat little setup. I think the only thing I would change is I'd have something around the shower. I've had the claw foot bathtubs before and I hate having the shower curtain wrapped around me. But other than that it's a perfect little setup
Yeah excellent point, I completely agree …. Its something that I have want to do but I can’t figure out how to… I need the pipes exposed so I can camp in extreme freezing temperatures and I need access to the hot water heater. Any suggestions I’d appreciate it. Appreciate the feedback 👍
@@waysoutback They sell plastic wall shower enclosure kits.Just cut walls to any size you want, glue them to foam board insulation, with the foil sides, from Home Depot. Keeps all the water in pan,you build it around.Make cut out for your water heater door. Kits about $100 ( 5 yrs ago) and as I remember, made in Ohio.Easy fix, clean it all up,no water leakage. Then just shower curtain on entry side, rest is enclosed.
@@bcole3442 You got it…. definitely on the to do list. 👍 I’m hoping in the next month or so to get that done. I was thinking a boat hatch for the hot water heater and wrap the pipes in insulation so they shouldn’t freeze. I’ll check into that Kit you mentioned see if they they offer something similar here. Thnak you for providing all the links for the how to stuff. I want to do a conversion like this sometime soon. I have never done it before but i think with the links it will help a lot.
Yeah…. It’s really it’s not that hard- if you want I also have a downloadable guide. But either way it’s not that difficult to do, and you build it just the way you want! www.waysoutback.com/downloadable-guide-cargo-trailer-to-camper/
I liked how you described the practicality of each item. Very logical with every mod. Slight concern about rocks and stuff damaging your pipe and hose under the body.
Thanks appreciate that! Yeah I’m always worried about those pipes I’ve been debating building a guard like I did for the diesel heater air intake. Thanks for the input 👍
Awesome. I wrote a guide on converting a cargo trailer it’s available on my website. I’ve updated the trailer you can check it out here ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=ZDXOqQ-hSM5QX4rw
I appreciated your very extensive video of your 6x10 cargo trailer. I am still trying to build my 6x12 and I got some helpful ideas from you. Maybe I can make some progress now. I am a senior so I guess old and slow and hardly smart enough. Thanks from Central Oklahoma.
Glad it helped a bit…. Keep at it you will feel great once it’s done and you built not bought it. You might be able to get some more information from my build videos you should find videos on each section…. Electrical, plumbing cabinets etc hope they help. You’ll do great most seniors I’ve met have forgotten more then us younger ones know. 😁
I like the shock absorbers and that hole you drilled fire the lock was ingenious. I think I'd find a way to raise the sides of the shower pan up by about 6 inches. I agree that outdoor showers don't work, because even on a summers day, the slightest breeze makes you cold! This is probably the best 6x10 build I've seen. If you ever get down into Montana I'd love to feature your outfit.
Thanks… I’ve since updated it a bit - ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=oXvQoKEKIzA3cgg2 We are heading down to Arizona this winter maybe next big trip we will be around Montana, if so I’ll reach out. 👍
Thank you so much. I think you would enjoy seeing the pretty big changes I made to the trailer in this video. ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=c-gASOF2cVRgbzym
Nicely done- I'm converting a car trailer so it can be dual purpose camper or car hauler. I've found that pop-up campers with bad canvas can be had for almost nothing- so one can get the water heater, furnace, power panels, gas detectors, propane stuff, cooktop, water pumps/sink and tanks for basically free. Buy a rough looking popup for $300 and remove all the donor parts- then sell the gutted shell for $300 to someone to convert to a snowmobile/motorcycle/utility trailer. I sold one to a young lady who turned it into a mobile tea and biscuit business by just making it a portable kitchen with all the canvas removed.
That’s such an awesome idea! All the parts would be the right size for a small trailer build! I love it when ones think outside the box! We made a few improvements since this video- ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=Bh3cmdlIUw-TelXP
I think if your a bit experienced using tools it’s actually not that bad. Depending on how complicated you go and your finishes. I’d say it’s a great winter project to be ready for camping by spring. Maybe 3 months of weekends and evenings and then your ready to roll.
Well thought out and executed design. Very efficient use of space. I never considered converting a cargo trailer into a travel trailer. Very clever idea. That has me thinking now.
Thanks! A few years ago I was debating it also… I couldn’t find a trailer I liked so the only solution for me was to build one. Even if your slightly handy I would highly recommend it. You might like this video…. Weighs the pros and cons. Should You Build A Cargo Trailer Camper??? ruclips.net/video/PjjFWY3esj8/видео.html
Excellent video. I like how you made your trailer. You did it simple, did not put a bunch of useless things in it to take up room or to make it all pretty and stuff like that. I'm buying my neighbors trailer to convert it as well. I like your set up.
It's not fancy, but it does have everything you need for a comfortable and homely camping trip. I don't usually watch h all the mechanical bits, but this time I did because you made it so interesting, explaining how and why you did what you did. I like the way you demonstrated how anyone with little of this world's world's riches could make a great camper very cheaply. I hope you both have many enjoyable and safe travels.
Thank you for your beautiful comment. You hit the nail on the head, our goal was to have something that suited our needs without breaking the bank. However we did make some changes to the camper in this video ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=vDSx1O52JN1DuqeI Let us know what you think.
- Great jobb man, planning quite simular, but after having used the same diesel heater and comparing it with a propan heated water sirculating system like in RVs I learn that the 12c power use is soo much higher with the diesel heater and in the winter time must have an 220v ac aggregat to fill up the batteri. And the noise is much higher from the diesel heater fan than the very quiet litle sirkulation pump for the water. You have good solutions on the kitchen, bed and sofa,
I love those systems but we went with diesel because it was cheaper and used very little power. No regrets. Thanks for watching and commenting. You may want to check out the guide I wrote on converting cargo trailers to campers. Let me know how yours works out. Also u may like to watch my more recent tour video, had big changes.

great build, I hadn't even thought about shocks, I'm borrowing that idea next spring
Great job
Besides the trailer Wanda you think you spent? Rough estimate and how is it registered and insured? As a trailer or motor home? How’s that work?

Great job!!

A friend of mine is doing a conversion, your ideas, especially with the shower, water heater and diesel heater are going to make a big difference. Thanks for posting.

Finally someone that thinks a shower is a "must have". Diesel heaters are expensive but worth it. Super great build!
Yeah you got it…. I know my wife is happy I have a shower 😜
I agree with the heaters…couldn’t imagine camping without one in winter.

I made significant changes to this trailer in this video. ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=yMSU9SOtwOs3fbmA
You will notice I actually changed the table.
Well done!
Thank you for the kind words and glad it’s helpful 👍
It's amazing you can successfully camp in this at 38 degrees below zero comfortably. Nice work.
Yeah it was colder then what I had planned. But with good insulation and the little diesel heater ripping it was actually quite nice. Super peaceful!

Wow that sounds incredible. I’d be very interested to follow you on this project. Are you planning to post anything to social media?
I've been wanting to buy and convert a cargo trailer into a camper for about 3 years now, but have hesitated because of the concern over lack of usable space, if a bathroom was to be installed. I'd only use mine for perhaps a 3-4 day weekend, so now I can plan on using the space that the shower in your build takes up, to make an enclosed bathroom.
Thanks for watching! 👍

@@waysoutback great idea
@@justwannasay5454 Thanks
thrilled you built this for very cold weather and on top showed it off in an ideal Winter spot
Yeah Honestly the older I get the more I love winter camping. Super peaceful 👌
Hope that helps
They also make very reliable quality diesel heaters… I think they are made by wabasco… but I have no experience with these.
@@brmelectric thanks appreciate it 👍
The diesel I think does a great job drying things out… I know I’ve heard of some horror stories with them but I believe a good percentage of the problems are due to a poor install. If done right and maintained… not letting old diesel sit in it etc I think they should work well… I’ll keep you posted. 😁

Just stepping up from backpacking gear.
The priorities are that you sleep well, eat well, relax well and what must people miss, transport well. Anything other than that and you are overdoing it. All about efficiency.

Wow, best bed extension, shower plumbing setup, so many cool ideas!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Glad it helped 👍
Thank you for adding the parts in the description area. I’ve followed your complete build wondering why yo didn’t do this earlier. Makes finding and using similar parts much easier. Again thank you
Mostly because I’m lazy 😂
Hope it helps
Super Cool. I got alot of ideas to use on my trailer. Thanks for sharing.
Also i really like that you explained and showed how you did things like the plumbing, electrical etc. Again Thanx for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! I improved a few things in the rebuild….
Here’s version 2.0, I added a few things!

I really like your dish drying drop down counter. So simple and smart.
Thanks! Simple and cheap that’s my goal! 😄
I think I’m going to build one that pops up by the stove also. A bit extra counter space by the stove would be really nice!
I like it. I have been debating whether or not to do something with my enclosed trailer and you have given me lots of ideas. Thanks
Glad I could help!

Thank you for sharing your designs. I really like your practical applications and approach to how you did this. Happy and safe travels.
Thanks appreciate that! It’s been a great little camper!
Excellent work sir, looks great! Wouldn't mind some winter camping in that little piece of home. May many great camps await! 👍
Thanks…. Yeah we are enjoying it a lot can’t wait to get away in a couple weeks 😁
@@waysoutback Great to hear, enjoy it! Dunno if I can do that well, but you've given me a sure good look at what's needed and what can be left off. It's about what's outside and who's inside that really matter! Good Speed sir!
@@koori3085 very well said… we don’t go camping to stay inside 😁
Amazing work well laid out and planned. And nice to see someone else who does winter camping! Thank you very much for the video
Thank you very much! Favourite time for camping!

Compact design. Can always use residual heat from appliances to help prevent freezing. Very nice!
Thanks for the comment 👍
What a great job! Thinking about doing a partial conversion on mine and this video is chock full of excellent ideas and solutions. Well done!
Thank you!
Here’s version 2.0 I added a wood stove 😄

Thnak you for providing all the links for the how to stuff. I want to do a conversion like this sometime soon. I have never done it before but i think with the links it will help a lot.
Yeah…. It’s really it’s not that hard- if you want I also have a downloadable guide. But either way it’s not that difficult to do, and you build it just the way you want!

We just landsd a cargo trailer and am looking for ideas!! Thanks for the tour!
Awesome. I wrote a guide on converting a cargo trailer it’s available on my website.
I’ve updated the trailer you can check it out here

i watch many shows about camper build give a like but this one i had to leave a message to say nice job that is a nice smart conversation
Appreciate that 👍
Constant work in progress but we are really enjoying it.
Excellent design. Love the simplicity, and thought-out design. Nicely done.
Thank you very much!

Thanks… I’ve since updated it a bit - ruclips.net/video/6G1-MKZaC4c/видео.htmlsi=oXvQoKEKIzA3cgg2
We are heading down to Arizona this winter maybe next big trip we will be around Montana, if so I’ll reach out. 👍
Bro, you blew my mind on such reduce space, truly amazing. ! Muy bueno Amigo ! I will learn from you. ! Thank you !
Thank you so much. I think you would enjoy seeing the pretty big changes I made to the trailer in this video.

We made a few improvements since this video-

I like how you did your trailer and with the drain for the hot water tank that's a great idea
Thanks
I love my winter camping…. Had to figure out a way to still have a nice hot shower 😄
Very nice, I like that you put windows in it. I have a 6×12 I'm considering making into a camper. I can see it would be a lot of work to make
I think if your a bit experienced using tools it’s actually not that bad.

@@waysoutback nice!!!
Excellent video. I like how you made your trailer. You did it simple, did not put a bunch of useless things in it to take up room or to make it all pretty and stuff like that. I'm buying my neighbors trailer to convert it as well. I like your set up.
Thanks appreciate the comment…. No frills is where it’s at!… also keeps it nice and light. With today’s gas prices the lighter the better! 👌
There are some really smart build solutions here, well done
Thank you so much. You may enjoy our more recent tour, we made some significant changes.

However we did make some changes to the camper in this video

So great working it's a full home on wheels 🚌
It sure is!
Thank you
Alright a ford ranger tow trailer!! Very nice set up and you really had some nifty ideas!
Thanks
Appreciate the comment…. Love my ranger! 👍
You had fun…..great work. Happy trails
Yeah you bet… it was fun building it! 👌
Thanks
