I believe that when we look back on the Yamato situation in the future, it will seem much more like a weekly chapter issue. Like you frequently say, that's the problem with reading a chapter a week, you can't grasp the full narrative as quickly as you want so things can feel clunky. But I think when looking at it as a full volume, the flow will feel much more natural. I could be wrong but I have faith that the Yamato problem won't be remembered as poorly as it's viewed now
I was thinking the same thing. Oda likes to set up bait and switches a lot so having luffy and crew suddenly leave without a word, only to have a flash back explaining things later makes sense to me.
I was thinking this too. Oda is about leaving behind his work as a whole when he dies, so it could be gathered he writes with that creed in mind first.
I am 99,9% certain that this flashback existed ONLY because of the fan complaint about how Yamato was dealt with. Fans didn't like the reason for Yamato not joining, the Strawhats (seemed like even the ones who didn't want Yamato join didn't like the justification for it) and this short flashback was tooled specifically to retcon that event.
@@Asko83 lol you guys really don't know that oda is several chapters ahead of the current one. You really think he saw all that heat and decided to publish a chapter lmao
@@Asko83 No. As we all know Oda has drawn at least 7 chapters in advance. Would not surprise me if we get a lot more of Wano flashbacks like this one in the next chapters.
I understand better for Jimbe's bounty with that, but i hope Oda will give us a better explaination than just "They were warlord so we need em all over 1 B". Like some were warlords for decades so we can justifie these huge bounties with at least some few damn impressive feats.

It sounded since it was introduced like the rocky port incident was a fairly recent occurrence so Blackbeard‘s new bounty update may just be considering the fact that he defeated Wang Zhi at the beehive and is now the ruler of the pirate island like his new bounty may literally just be because of that and maybe factoring in the fact that they’re hunting down powerful fruit users many of whom would assumedly be marines

Interesting thought process for fujitora "We dont need loyal/disloyal pirates, we need extremely powerful child soldiers that looks like those loyal/disloyal pirates"
Katarina Devon talking about taking Boa's head was a clear reference to Medusae's lore, also, Hancock's powers are pretty much the same as in the Medusa myth, just wondering if her fruit could be a hidden mythical Zoan.
My thought about the Buggy sheraphim is that Buggy sherpain will be one of the strongest and broken. Because not only it will be funny but the information that the characters have in universe is that buggy is one of the strongest man in the ONE PIECE, he is now the boss of two of the former Warlords, and well all his backstory.
I always thought Buggy was actually really strong. Roger wouldn't just let some kid on his ship if he didn't have potential. He's like Usopp. His personality gets in the way of him reaching that potential. So since the seraphim presumably have no personality and can therefore unlock their originals full power then the Buggy clone will let us see what he's actually capable of.
If the Seraphim have at least the devil fruits of the people they copied, then a Buggy Seraphim would be invincible. Having the toughness of the Lunarians to take on blunt force combined with the fact that you can nope being cut or slice is a formidable model. Its also a more single minded killing machine model.
For the whole Yamato situation I think it’s one that’ll probably work a lot better in book form. We are all emotionally dissecting shit week by week but on a quick read you get the emotion of a goodbye and right after you get the actual good explanation
regarding the whole yamato and marco story placement, I think Oda was thinking of how they would neatly fit into a volume format. Sometimes you gotta zoom out and see that one piece weekly releases dont make sense, but they do in volume format sense
While I do think that Yamatos flashback would've been better in the main story but I do think it fits very well here. It contrasts with what's doing on in Amazon Lily showing two island Lucy has had influence on still being in danger when he's not around. They serve to compliment each other.
1. The Yamato thing being now was to parallel the need for each islands “protector”. Marco with Sphinx, Yamato with Wano, and Amazon Lily with Boa. The twist being that Boa’s presence on Amazon Lily could be adversely effecting her people (probably partly why she’s suggesting running away to luffy when we first see her again). 2. Chapters are always completely finished 4 ahead of what we the reader are currently reading. Meaning this chapter was finished by the time 1055 officially released and no moment in this chapter could be retroactively trying to tie up the yamato ending. It was always meant to be this way. Doesn’t necessarily change Wano’s actual ending in a bubble from feeling very unfulfilling for the 10+ years of hype we had, but at least outside of reading weekly it may hit a little better in the end as long as Oda stays self aware.
Interesting. Plus where have you heard of the 4 chapters completed before publishing ? Always woundered how Oda planned his chapters with publication ... (and I also do think that Oda planned Yamato's excuse from the begining it was pretty odd to me otherwise)
@@tomgu2285 I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m not like some Wano hater. The arc was still top 5 easy I just would’ve liked a longer post-wano. I think there’s a good chance we’ll see Wano again (since Pluton + old wano is there after all) so I’m not stressin over post-wano anyways since it seems like we’ll get more info down the line. I think Oda wanted to reveal more in Wano but realized it’d give away too many cards for the final saga and if withholding at the end of Wano means a more satisfying final saga ending then I’m all for it.
I feel a lot of Blackbeard's fears come from the fact that his introduction, and as far as we know, only real interaction with Rayleigh was when he was a child on Whitebeard's crew; That was Rayleigh in his prime; world's more powerful than he was as a child, and in his mind, Rayleigh is still that man, and Blackbeard is still that kid.
And I think we are going to get several more chapters like that, we already spent too much panels on the Kinemon Gang, so I think Oda is going to deliver several rushed chapters with a lot going on in them like this one,
I've been hearing many people yell "retcon" for Yamato's reasons for staying, but it's clearly planned. Momo told Yamato not to interfere with Greenbull. That right there was the set up for Yamato not being honest about why she decided to stay. It wasn't a retcon, it was just Oda doing his usual thing of planting story developments with delayed effect. It's been this way for decades with Oda. I trust him not to let us down and leave us hanging with unresolved story elements (carrot).
I think you are overestimating Oda. Because it wasn't just Yamato's part that was rushed at the end of Wano. Everything was. We didn't get any scene with what was happening to Kaido and Big Mom (or their bodies if they are supposedly dead). I mean, Green Bull was there and fought some of Kaido's crew, but he surely wasn't able to imprison them all by himself. Other thing with Carrot. While I didn't need her to be a strawhat member, she becoming the warden for Zou also felt kind of out of place and more like Oda wanted to give her something in the end even though it was never really a thing that she wanted or strived for. There are a lot of other things as well.
I love how much people hate it because it is a made-up reason for not upsetting Momo anyway, so it supposed to make no sense. I think the chapter serves its purpose well.
@@cybercolony7176 Ah yes, that is why this was a thing they ALWAYS did. You seem to miss the point. So well that I actually look forward to them more than the actual battle. It's funny that you say not everything needs to be baby fed as some kind of insult when you are missing the core appeal of One Piece which is the freedom and that is best portrayed by these moments.

The end of Wano definitely suffered thanks to movie:red. That much seems to have been made clear. And I think oda knew that, seeing as he threw in those flashbacks with Yamato here. It definitely helps a little, but that abrupt ending will forever be a mark on the arc's quality for me. That and how pretty much any arc for Zoro was seemingly dropped near the end of the raid.
At least people will complain a little less about Yamato now. I spent the past three weeks saying "Hey, wait for a bit. Maybe the explanation was just delayed. Be patient." to my friends

I had my doubts about the Warlords replacements, but these Seraphim proved me WAY wrong. Also, we have been majorly sleeping on Hancock. If every chapter is going to be as densely packed like this from here on out, I’m all for it.

So what if: they assumed kaido and big mom were keeping shanks and blackbeard in check. Now that theyre gone, shanks and black beard are more of a threat so both their bounties go up
Loved this chapter but I agree with Liam at the end of this video. I'm really banking on the anime "polishing up" some the loose ends/gaps in the story that Wano had since Oda was trying to quickly wrap up the arc.
The Cerberus Theory, easily one of the most popular within the One Piece community, posits that Blackbeard had already eaten a Devil Fruit before he ate the Yami Yami no Mi. Specifically, a Mythical Zoan Fruit possibly called the Inu Inu no Mi, Model Cerberus.
Prophetic that I just recently asked you about Rayleigh, and how you thought he stacked up against luffy & the current world power scheme. Based off his comment about blackbeard, I'd assume that means luffy has done what zoro hasn't done, and surpassed his mentor; now has sanji surpassed Ivankov?:)#)
id say yes, sanji has suprasesd ivanokov. zoro is close to suprassing mihawk. like 70% their. and luffy is still weaker than dark king, i think he would still win
Theory time So King seems way too important to me at this point. So I'm suspecting another reason Oda is having Yamato stay behind is to eventually meet with King, perhaps restore his belief in Joyboy and re-enter the story as an ally alongside Yamato. Okay it's a bit of wishful thinking on my part but it does make sense. I seriously doubt King would be too happy about what the Government did with his DNA- making child slave soldiers, after wiping out his race.
Rayleigh coming and saving Hancock reminded me of Shanks stopping the war at Marineford. Both times Blackbeard caused havoc and Coby was trying to avoid any direct conflict.
Blackbeard coming in again going after Boa's powers was great stuff plus both of their bounties being shown with updated amounts was awesome and Koby out here talking for a deal with baby kidlords shooting off lazers then Rayleigh clouts his way towards a solution lul well kinda
I liked this conflict because it didn't downplay either Hancock or Teach while also showing us Koby still has a long way to go before he can stand against them. His comment about Hancock giving them more trouble than they thought she would also proves that just like the fan base the Marines underestimated Hancock as well
I’m assuming that the stuff on Amazon Lily is a half-flash back, and taking a high profile Marine hero hostage is probably a one-way ticket to big bounty city, right? I hope that the “Rocky Port Incident” is never completely explained. In my head, it’s one the darkest things that ever happened in the world during the time skip, and I’m not sure if anything Oda could draw would accurately showcase the “9/11”-ness (I apologize, but I can’t think of a better descriptor) I imagine it to have. The Seraphim are such a neat and horrifying idea: sort of a “fine, we’ll do it ourselves” variant of the Warlord System, these artificial death robot children who will not and cannot disobey the WH or Celestial Dragons. I would love to see various ex-warlords encountering their Seraphim counterparts. Raleigh showing up was so great. He pulls up, and everyone just goes “fuuuuuuu-,” and plays nice because NO ONE wants to fight the Dark King. So, while Marco was on Wano, Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates were nearby out in the sea the ENTIRE TIME. I don’t think the implication is that they would’ve helped if things went really bad, and I do like the idea that Shanks was watching Luffy fight and defeat Kaido.
@@Deathmare235, personally, and this just my preference, I want it to be “too bad,” but I also want whatever Law did to get those 100 pirate hearts to be so unspeakable that no one in story (not even him) ever gives a straight answer for what happened. So if Oda just wants to keep referencing the Rocky Port Incident but never actually draw what happened, I’m fine with that. I think this is a rare case for One Piece where the imagination can spiral into crazy off the wall directions Oda CAN’T properly capture in One Piece the way it’s currently written.
Its gonna be explained anyways and it's the darkest yeah no it's not the darkest compared to what other things the word government has done in the past
Shakky was the one that left the Amazon Lily because she fell in love with Rayleigh and perhaps they had a child, Mihawk. Grandma neon did say that the a past empress left because of an illlness called love.
Oda just had a idea in his head that his readers are smart enough to put two and two together about Yamato we failed his test failed it bad failed it like a second grader trying to take a college entrance exam to Yale
The only reason, i could see at least, for holding out on the marco and luffy flashback (as well as the yamato stuff) because it’ll fit better thematically with the final war. Maybe im getting ahead of myself.. but it just seems like Sphinx will be the next island. And having this moment and the connection to Ace happen at the start of the new arc, and continue when we reach Ace’s grave, will flow better when we read this new saga as a whole. As with a lot’ve one piece, its always just wait and see. A lot of criticisms we have are often addressed some time later because they just dont fit or flow better for what Oda’s has in mind.
Koby being abducted by Black Beard means that he’ll be the damsel that Luffy has to save in the final war against the World Government instead of Nico Robin, Fire Fist Ace, or Sabo himself.
To me personally, the "new" reason for Yamato staying doesn't make a lot of sense either. If another enemy of Greenbull's calibre is attacking Wano, theyre fooked, Yamato being there or not. We saw how Greenbull obliterated them, no contest. So the reasoning for her staying remains weak to me. The fact that Wano is now under Luffy's protection makes Wano a million times safer than the fact that Yamato is staying behind now in my opinion.
Since so much time was wasted in Wano and so little focus has been on the outside world, it's been hard to catch everyone up to where Luffy and the raid boys ended up while remaining coherent. One Piece does a good job of letting it feel like characters are doing things that don't involve the Straw Hats, but other times, there's so little info that this sort of story catchup feels ludicrous.
Perfect setup for boa to join either the fleet, or the crew imo. She can't stay on Amazon Lily, Rayleigh is getting old, and there's a precedent for the empress leaving for a man she cares for (shakky with Ray)... If the strawhats get another bounty increase after the next island, she might very well join after that
She could very well join the fleet, but most probably not the crew. Hancock and Robin are too similar in terms of character (powerful, level-headed women) to be interesting in the group chemistry. Besides, Sanji would nosebleed himself to death every time he saw her.
Gunna put on a tinfoil hat here and say I think the Seraphim aren't going to be the warlords, the reason it was specifically Boa and Mihawk is because like King they were both previously captured by the WG/Nobles which could lead into a backstory for why Mihawk trusts no one and why he's called "Marine Hunter" maybe he was betrayed by those he thought would protect him or something like that
I wonder how Koby Justifies to himself using child cyborg clones in battle. I mean, that is kinda messed up. Maybe the kids are just mindless machines, and Koby knows that, but I doubt both of those ideas.
I believe this Ochoku person that Blackbeard took the island from was actually Wang Zhi, one of the rock's pirate members Admiral Sengoku mentioned previously when he was discussing them.
The last two chapters reminded me why I loved One Piece and cemented how much I disliked a huge portion of the Wano Arc chapter. Wano is mid level to me. Some of the best parts in the series but for me the Wano characters aren’t that great and Kaido’s crew was really disappointing. Kaido’s flashback was pathetically short and Zoro didn’t got flashed out as a characters. Usopp And Brook were just kind of there. The Big Mom Pirates didn’t do anything… The lack of deaths here was really bothering, more than any other arc. the power ups was too much for me. Only arcs I like less more are: Amazon Lily, Fishmen Island, Syrup Village, Orange Town and Skypia, Zou and Drum Kingdom.
@@generalyousif3640 yeah, I hate Jack as a character and didn’t love the Minks as many of the other side characters(still liked them). And although that the last two chapters of the arc are very important to the endgame, I prefer many other arcs for other reasons(action, comedy, interesting antagonists)
Wano was meh, and that's really bad considering the time spent and Oda hyping it that much... We got like 10 years of watching Kinemon's gang taking up panels that could have been used for other important parts of the story.
@@kaz7256 I didn’t disliked any One Piece arc. I meant to say I like all those arcs less than the others… I like any single arc, but those I mentioned I like less. Is it allowed?
If the Seraphim are conscious children and not just robots, then I could see end of series Zoro adopting the Mihawk clone as his son and training him...(Assuming mihawk dies at the end of the series.) Imagine if Luffy befriends the Hancock clone, and then through various misunderstandings, Hancock gets it in her head that her clone is basically her and Luffy adopted daughter. The Seraphim have the potential to bring some real drama into One Piece, but if they survive to the end of the series, I can see them being used for comedy as well. Also, think of all of the Seraphim merchandise that will be sold in Japan, as they like small and cute things.
I think Rayleigh was underestimating himself. While he likely technically was not wrong in his assessment that he might lose to Blackbeard 1v1, the fact of the matter is that him AND Boa combined could absolutely take on Blackbeard. Blackbeard could not hold Boa hostage while taking on Rayleigh at the same time, at the very least with the rest of the island's women attacking him too.
Oda rushed the end of Wano because of Film Red. He wanted Shanks to appear at the right time (the release date of the movie) and decided to add scenes he orignally would have added at the end of Wano AFTER Wano. Its all Film Reds foult basically.
The reason we got the Wano flashbacks is because Oda had to rush through the end of Wano for Red and he probably forgot to include these scenes in the rush.
Honestly at this point I’m horny for anything involving Lunarians and the Shaky confirmation was a gold nugget I didn’t know I needed. Loved this chapter!
I saw what Oda intended with Yamato when Green Bull went to Wano. It showed a panel of Luffy and the gang just watching them defend their own. That's when I knew she was staying so she could defend the place. So Oda did not make a mistake. He does these things to bring spice on certain chapters. Because if it was a full on blackbeard chapter, it wouldn't be that interesting to read. So he sprinkled some yamato and marco flashbacks. Check out the other chapters, he does this very often. Doesn't usually cover one area but covers multiple in a chapter.
That is one of the better aspects of the Anime being well done as well as obviously coming well after the manga. Oda has plenty of time to implement a fix. While a misstep in the pacing of a manga can be detrimental to the flow, I believe it can be even more so in an anime so hopefully it is tweaked.
This Yamato reason is more understandable but as you said, it still kind of undermines Momomosuke and the samurai resolve, specially since it was shown here that both luffy and Yamato were on board (pun intended) of her becoming an official SH
I, like many other people, was initially disappointed by the 180 flip with Yamato. But after a second thought it makes sense for the reason that Yamato read Oden’s journal. What Oden wrote at the end of that journal is anyone guess but it was enough to convince Momo he needed to stay alive and open the borders. Yamato is also aware of this and possibly the significance that Luffy/joyboy will soon play out. It doesn’t make sense to have a potential big walking spoiler on the Sunny until more has been revealed.

I could be wrong but I have faith that the Yamato problem won't be remembered as poorly as it's viewed now
i agree. because for weekly viewers it was like a month of confusion. but of you were reading it itd be like 5 minutes of confusion
That Wano flashback also took A LOT of the sting out of 1057 for me.

Its also a more single minded killing machine model.

regarding the whole yamato and marco story placement, I think Oda was thinking of how they would neatly fit into a volume format. Sometimes you gotta zoom out and see that one piece weekly releases dont make sense, but they do in volume format sense
I’m wondering if the Marco and Yamato interactions would’ve been earlier if Oda didn’t have to hurry to fit Shanks in before the movie 🤔
I doubt it, since that all happened after Shanks’s appearance.
Obviously

@@devrolo ohh definitely post wano was rushed. However this flashback fixed alot of problems with the ending that I had. Not all tough.

I hope we get the fully story of the Rocky Port incident

Seeing the defeated antagonist being dealt with, having a huge feast where all characters talk to one another again before the actual departure etc. These are the calm moments you need especially after an arc as long as Wano and One Piece did them well. So well that I actually look forward to them more than the actual battle. It's funny that you say not everything needs to be baby fed as some kind of insult when you are missing the core appeal of One Piece which is the freedom and that is best portrayed by these moments.

Great vid. This was a lot of fun. Totally agree this chapter was unreal

id say yes, sanji has suprasesd ivanokov. zoro is close to suprassing mihawk. like 70% their. and luffy is still weaker than dark king, i think he would still win
No one is mentioning the fact that Boa was resting her head on Rayleigh's lap, I thought that was very sweet.
Maybe because Rayleigh is someone close to her. Like her fa-gasp

So King seems way too important to me at this point.
Yeah even of its small you can't introduce artificial lunarian child soldiers and not have the only living member not interfere
Weird why he would as Hancock says her powers are generally useless with out her. Maybe he just doesn't want them being used against him
I liked this conflict because it didn't downplay either Hancock or Teach while also showing us Koby still has a long way to go before he can stand against them.
Rocky port incident can’t be too bad since it involved Law that’s literally saying he’s the one piece version of osama bin laden
@@Deathmare235, personally, and this just my preference, I want it to be “too bad,” but I also want whatever Law did to get those 100 pirate hearts to be so unspeakable that no one in story (not even him) ever gives a straight answer for what happened.
Nah, he draws chapters in advance, but i guess you are still right, we did kinda fail.
It's funny how you didn't mention Koby being abducted😂
Koby being abducted by Black Beard means that he’ll be the damsel that Luffy has to save in the final war against the World Government instead of Nico Robin, Fire Fist Ace, or Sabo himself.

Shaky had to abdicate because she fell in love with Rayleigh.
We need 1 mill special, I love your videos
Since so much time was wasted in Wano and so little focus has been on the outside world, it's been hard to catch everyone up to where Luffy and the raid boys ended up while remaining coherent. One Piece does a good job of letting it feel like characters are doing things that don't involve the Straw Hats, but other times, there's so little info that this sort of story catchup feels ludicrous.
Of all the people i expected to find in this comment section holy shit
That's just your opinion man....
Gunna put on a tinfoil hat here and say I think the Seraphim aren't going to be the warlords, the reason it was specifically Boa and Mihawk is because like King they were both previously captured by the WG/Nobles which could lead into a backstory for why Mihawk trusts no one and why he's called "Marine Hunter" maybe he was betrayed by those he thought would protect him or something like that
Yeah it seems like Mihawk used to be a slave just like Boa when they were kids
Theres a possible ace seraphim in the cards then
Kaido Seraphim would likely be the strongest of the Seraphims
@@shadow-faye Holy shit could you imagine
I feel like Rayleigh saying he wouldn’t beat Blackbeard was just him being humble.
Dude really said zou ☠️
@@generalyousif3640 yeah, I hate Jack as a character and didn’t love the Minks as many of the other side characters(still liked them). And although that the last two chapters of the arc are very important to the endgame, I prefer many other arcs for other reasons(action, comedy, interesting antagonists)
You dislike stuff like drum island, Skypiea and zou so obviously you wouldn't like wano. Why do you even expect much???
Wano was meh, and that's really bad considering the time spent and Oda hyping it that much... We got like 10 years of watching Kinemon's gang taking up panels that could have been used for other important parts of the story.
@@kaz7256 I didn’t disliked any One Piece arc. I meant to say I like all those arcs less than the others… I like any single arc, but those I mentioned I like less. Is it allowed?
If the Seraphim are conscious children and not just robots, then I could see end of series Zoro adopting the Mihawk clone as his son and training him...(Assuming mihawk dies at the end of the series.)
Imagine if Luffy befriends the Hancock clone, and then through various misunderstandings, Hancock gets it in her head that her clone is basically her and Luffy adopted daughter.
The Seraphim have the potential to bring some real drama into One Piece, but if they survive to the end of the series, I can see them being used for comedy as well.
Also, think of all of the Seraphim merchandise that will be sold in Japan, as they like small and cute things.
first
I think Rayleigh was underestimating himself.
Pls pin first
You were 1 second slower
Shakky is the former amazon empress that got caught in love sickness, hence she got replaced by elder nyon
He certainly did not forget those scenes. Because he had to rush everything he decided to leave them out and add them later.
Doesn't usually cover one area but covers multiple in a chapter.
kiddnapping a marine hero will increase that bounty plenty quick
That is one of the better aspects of the Anime being well done as well as obviously coming well after the manga. Oda has plenty of time to implement a fix.
While a misstep in the pacing of a manga can be detrimental to the flow, I believe it can be even more so in an anime so hopefully it is tweaked.
This Yamato reason is more understandable but as you said, it still kind of undermines Momomosuke and the samurai resolve, specially since it was shown here that both luffy and Yamato were on board (pun intended) of her becoming an official SH
Love that Blackbeard was ready to sacrifice his crew
Yeh that's the kind of man he is meant to be.
You think shakky quit, because she'd die if she couldn't be with the dark king. Ya know, love is a hurricane and what not
I, like many other people, was initially disappointed by the 180 flip with Yamato.
