Life in Moria - The Largest Refugee Camp in Greece | UNICEF

Clinging to hope while living in dangerous and crowded conditions, these are the boys from Section B - the area where unaccompanied refugee and migrant children live in at the largest refugee reception centre in Greece.
On September 9th 2020 a devastating fire in Moria camp on the island of Lesvos, Greece, compounded the already urgent needs of more than 4,000 children living there, including more than 400 unaccompanied minors.
UNICEF’s priority is to secure the immediate safety and protection of children, in coordination with the Greek Government, the Special Secretary for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors, local authorities and our partners in the UN and NGO community. The event serves as a strong reminder of the urgent need for a child-sensitive, humane EU Pact on Migration that respects children’s rights to adequate protection and services across Europe.
