Realistic expectations for most MGB's here and so nice to see from this un biased restoration. I have owned several of these and seen a lot more. I would say that most of the listings on Ebay will not be much better; probably all nice and shiny though. These cars are soooooooo easy to botch up and sell on. Proper restoration is very expensive and some may even be on their second "rebuild" by now. £600 sounds ok for the car you bought and you could possibly have shelled out £10,000 for an un-documented "rebuilt" example of similar quality.
Will enjoy seeing how you get on, sounds very interesting.

These projects benefit from soda blasting. It gets rid of all paint, crud and filler and really shows the sold bits. It’s quick and great for the moral of progress. Finished article in British Racing Green would look amazing. There is a simple shock absorber conversion which gets rid of the dreadful level arm Armstrongs too. Good luck. I am really looking forward to watching progress. Thanks for posting. David

I drive an Land Rover 90 everyday and for ages been thinking about buying an MGB GT as a 2nd fun car, high days and holidays cruiser....but thought I was not really old enough to own an MG (most seem to be retired or close to it!!!)so you have inspired me!!! I will be watching how you get on....although I think you have encouraged me to spend a little more money and get one that's already sorted & restored. I don't think I could go through the restoration pain (again) 😎

Best thing for the paint and under seal is a heat gun and scraper!! Definitely v8 it

Tip for the underseal i used an air chisel low pressure so didnt just smash through the rust and just knocked it all off so much faster and easier but loud lol

I almost bought a concourse MGB GT with wire wheels and chrome bumpers-but then bought a more practical car-is this going to be a regular series from your good self now???

What was the alternative? Nice little cars for the summer weather though.
I’d like to think so! With winter coming up there’s more time to hide in the workshop and get projects sorted, so it’ll free up some time to work on the MGB

@@carsandbras2202 The alternative was a Porsche GT3 RS

Acid dip would of been great, strip back all the paint, filler and rot. Not as much fun though.
Hope this is going to be regular.👍

Please, drop the mx 5 idea, agree they are good units and tuneable too but that car is crying for some kind of v8. Even if its just a tuned RV8.

It's going to be.....'emotional'.. Big project there, but well done & full kudos to you both for doing it!
    Polite observations (not complaints);-
    1) Seems to be a loud noise through a lot of the video (like a gas blower - your heater?).
    2) Camera goes out of focus a lot. Could you tripod/mount it on a stand, in a position that you can see what's going on, so it doesn't have to focus so much - for outside of the car, when you are both in shot? Appreciate you can't do this in car/moving along car.
Best wishes to you both, take care.
