    These two clowns are more interested in being melodramatic than working on cars. They were just whinging pricks to that first seller with the yellow MGB. I loved it when he laughed in their faces at that ridiculous offer.

    wow they faked the car. the original rustbucket that they bought is a inca yellow Late model MGB, late model starting from 1978, distinguished by its triumph gauges and redesigned dashboard. inca yellow also didn’t come out until 1977/78. in the green car (which appears to be a Brooklands green, NOT BRG) is said to be a 76, early model rubber bumper car. The dashboard and instruments are different (which is a pain to interchange since they dont share too many differences) and also has early model headrests and early model steering wheel, whereas the inca yellow car had the late model headrests and steering wheel, which is not interchangeable without changing the steering column. so It appears to be faked.

    I have a 1981 MGB GT (yes you read that right, 1981, even though the factory closed in 1980!).
    After the factory in Abingdon CLOSED down in 1980, all the remaining MGB GT parts were shipped to British Leyland in South Africa as CKD (Completely Knocked Down), where only 200 was ever built from imported CKD kits.

And when the rear end dropped I loved the “ it may be a write off”. You gave 500 pounds for it, you can part it out and turn a profit. Lotsa drama here.

    Nice job on the bodywork but at bare minimum I would have expected a compression check, an inspection of all the engine seals and gaskets, and a test of the clutch. Without all those things buying this car would, as we say here in America, be like buying a pig in a poke! Last but not least that's not British Racing Green paint, it,s several shades too light.

  • @stuartbear922
    @stuartbear922 4 года назад +3

    So the car was faked. It made several good points and was very entertaining. The new steel roof was amazing. The paint job and final bodywork looked very nice. I still can't figure out HOW they made money on the car. It looked they lost 2,000 gbp. The bumpers looked new as well as the grills and other shiny bits. New seats and upholstery costs a fortune in the USA.

    Without a doubt the worst car program I ever saw. I thought it was a comedy to begin with.
    Everything is staged, with poor acting and if "Bernie" is a master mechanic , well, no wonder the UK Car Industry collapsed.
    If he ever actually spoke to his staff like that he'd be laid out straight away. I'm guessing the American production company thought that a guy with a Cockney accent, driving round insulting people would sell in the States, and Dick Van Dyke wasn't available.
    Why did he try to buy it for a hundred quid then claim it was beyond saving?
    When they are painting it at 37 minutes you can clearly see that they are painting over a front wing with huge rust holes - no repair, no replacement panels.
    It also looks like the drivers door doesn't close properly.
    Bodgers and cowboys.
    It's criminal to claim this is a restoration.

      @@joanned8172 Agree - there was an awful, awful show where the otherwise highly skilled Indian mechanic/panel beater overacted so badly it was impossible to watch. The 'moment' was him pretending to go into a trance to get his 'vision' of how the car would look and we were told if he did not 'feel it', the restoration could not happen.
      Of course, he did 'feel it' and we all were so relieved and happy.....yeesh....as corny and silly as you can get.
