Still one of the best appearances they had IMO. A great reintroduction for new fans, and a brilliant way to modernise the visual design. They got to the POINT in that story.
@@curvingfyre6810 Oh yeah I actually really love the Cybusmen in their first appearance. One of the key parts about the Cybermen is that they need to reflect onto the other characters as well. Tenth Planet had the Cybermen talked about emotions and flesh bodies as weakness while General Cutler almost accidentally destroys Earth trying to save his son and the first doctor nears regeneration, only for the Cybermen to be defeated by pure arrogance. Tomb Of The Cybermen sees the Logicians set up their own demise with the Doctor very willing to help them get their quicker because both then and the Cybermen are too focused on logic to deal with the unpredictable element of being human. Even Earthshock allows 5th to be truly angry, to have the Cybermen be the antithesis of everything he stands for and defends. And the Cybusmen shows off the inevitable dehumanization of capitalism and the 10th’s empathy weaponize against them. As one of the few Doctors to really understand what it is like to be human, he understands, maybe more than any other Doctor before him, that no human could function like that without all emotions removed. This is also why I think the only other Cyberman story to truly work is Doctor Falls because it excellently connects the struggles of 12th to the Mondasians. Also a key thing all these stories do is keep the Cybermen scary which is also key.
I mean honestly this is the sort of thing the legit TV series is afraid to put onscreen but would benefit greatly from. So if nothing else its a great showcase at the absolute potential of the monster Cyberman concept.
I mean we have World Enough and Time which is probably the closest thing to Spare Parts we're ever gonna get on tv. But yes I would love to see this body horror explored to way greater lengths
Also I'd like to add the Doctor casually disposing of the Cyberman under the innocent notion of "Emotional inhibitor/Saving the world/universe... IT'LL BE FINE!!!" unawares of the pain they're causing Cybermen no matter how many "Sorry I'm SO SORRIES" they cry out. This is what's going on, from the otherside.
But the reason it reminded me so strongly is bc of how In Alyx the “grunts” can ask for help in their dying breath very similar to the inhibitor malfunction situation
I’m already accepting this as canon because it shows what the Cybermen truly are inside: helpless humans who were stripped of their humanity for the sake of survival.
I've always belived that the Cybermen are some of Doctor Who's best antagonists when done right, and this really nails perfecty everything I love about especially their earlier appearances. Very very well done.
If you face copyright action, it will show extremely poor commercial judgement by those who start it. It should be obvious that your talent is revitalising the core concept of the Cybermen. I remember watching these episodes when they were first broadcast. Your work matches up to the sheer, unutterable dread those early episodes inspired. There was a reason “behind the sofa” attached itself to early Doctor Who. Congratulations - an extremely well-crafted piece!
This is really great, but the computer nerd in me would have done the text differently. Typing and backspacing looks too human, even if it would be what the BBC may have done at the time. @@LordOfRibenaoh no. The Cyberman screaming was just taken from the first clip when the Cyberman was electrocuted and whatnot by the Doctor. The screaming itself was taken from clips of The Invasion Cybermen
have you considered a video based on the cyberwoman torchwood episode? i think it would work extremely well with this concept, its terror in itself already (please please lets ignore the design :] )
THIS! THIS IS WHAT I WANT! dude, cyborg Analog Horror is exactly what i want to see. I dunno if this counts as that as it doesn't have the infomercial feel or such, but i LOVE THIS. Please, more, i'll sub. Transhumanism horror is so underrated.

This the way the Cybermen should represented. Not as generic evil robots, but as pure expressions of body horror.
Which is why that colony ship episode(s) was so great it didn’t shy away from that
"Emotional Inhibitor offline"
*muffled screaming*
That’s a chilling detail.
Remember when 10th's strategy for defeating the Cybusmen was to turn off all emotional inhibitors because they end up killing themselves? Good times.
Remember when the Cybermen were actually scary thanks to the constant brutal reminders that these things were once human? Good times….

They really should have an r rated movie or series focused on the darker side of the Cybermen. Let their horror really shine

For that one brief moment they remembered what they were and how far they went to survive and now they have no mouth, and they must scream.
Reminds me of the combine from half life (especially in half life Alyx as you can hear stuff like this as they fight you)
