A funny piece of trivia: it’s actually pretty realistic that the mama penguin doesn’t try very hard to stop you from getting rid of her baby. Real penguins will often favor self preservation over protecting their young from certain predators, particularly petrels.
I'll be honest, It took me a while as a kid to realize they where completely different levels, since the painting you jump trough in the mirror's reflection is the same as cool cool mountain's painting

The Snowman's Lost His Head star has two main requirements to get the snowman body to follow you towards the head: - Touch a certain region about halfway down the slide before the snowman does - At the time the snowman reaches the end of its path, be inside its field of view. The reason why the star is so confusing is because most of the snowman's head actually isn't in the field of view, so simply waiting behind the head likely won't work. Instead, you should stand to the right of the head (as seen from the body's perspective). Once the snowman body sees you and starts rolling towards you, then you can move behind the head to guide the body towards it.
I remember Snowmans Land was one of the stages I didn't find until after beating the game, along with Shifting Sand Land. Also, Big Penguin Race was one of the last stars I completed cuz I couldn't beat the slide without the shortcut for a while.
I’m partial towards Cool Cool Mountain as it has a better atmosphere and has more memorable elements. CCM feels both barren and cozy, has a slide, and has cute penguins (you’re a monster if you throw them off the edge), whilst Snow Man’s Land has the giant snowman, the igloo, and the underrated Chill Bully.
Am I the only person that got to the bottom of Cool Cool Mountain by jumping on a Spindrift and hovering down? I honestly didn't know there was another way to get there until I was an adult
One thing you didn't mention about Whirl from the Freezing Pond; If you are in the water while jumping on the Spindrifts, the Spindrifts will instantly die for some reason. Idk if this is a glitch, but it made the star much more frustrating.
Funny enough, on my very 1st play through of super mario 64 in 3D all stars, for cool cool mountain's 6 star "wall kicks for work" i found it and got it early by complete accident. I was going for the 8 red coins star when i accidently fall off the mountain to what i thought was certain death, but i somehow managed to land on the platform leading up to the star. That was some serious luck on my side!
you need to touch two checkpoints along the snowman’s route in order to get the star, which I bet is why you the snowman sometimes misses you at the end
Cool Cool Mountain will always be SSS tier for me because it taught child me the important lesson of manipulation, grief, and sacrifice (aka throwing the baby penguin off the cliff in front of his mother)
idk if its already been said buuuuuut: another youtuber actually explains the wonkiness of the snowman head star. its the hitbox thats extremely off center. u can't just go infront of or right behind the head. u have to be standing a bit a bit to the...right? of the body for it to trigger the head to go the the body. if u dont go into the hitbox, the head wont go to the body. i suck at explaining things so just look up the snowhead head star and u should find it. he explains it way better than i ever could XD

For someone whose favourite games are Mario and Minecraft, I can't believe you haven't talked about the Mario mash-up pack on Nintendo versions of Minecraft. I feel you would rant about about every aspect of the map, skins,textures etc.
The canon can be used to shoot yourself up to the top of the snowman's head in snowman's Land, just unlock the canon via the igloo and then use the canon to shoot yourself to the tree on top to get the star without having to do the annoying climb.
For the snowman head star you are supposed to let the big head follow you. That means go down in front of it within its "vision" the whole time. If it "loses sight of you" then it won't follow you at the end and you will lose the chance for the star. The fact the game does not communicate this concept to the player well at all makes this well deserving of the F-tier that you gave it in the video as many don't even know about these mechanics.
Just punch, kick or bump into the head and the body will automically follow and connect with it, yes it's not explained but he also gave "lil penguin lost" an S for a risky shortcut most people wouldn't do on their first playtroughs.
Cool Cool Mountain is my favorite stage in SM64, an easy S-tier for me. Even though, yes, it does have one bad star, but on the plus side, it"s a short one that you can restart quickly if you fail.
The SNES Super Mario games didn’t have very many snow-themed courses, so I don’t mind that the main Super Mario game on the following console had two of them.
That red coin on that unconnected platform - literally just jump off the warp at the start. As for the snowman star, you cannot skip any parts of the slide, or it will break.
Out of the two stages in this game, I'm personally on team CCM. I think the slide is pretty fun and the missions are pretty solid. (except for star 5, I'm glad we can agree that star sucks) Star 6 is my personal favorite from CCM, I like how it makes you have to search through the level thoroughly to find a remote area that you're not likely to find on a first playthrough. It also rewards you with teaching you about wall jumps, which is something I doubt most players are gonna think to do on their first playthrough. also wtf happened to mario at 16:22
I've always preferred Cool, Cool Mountain. There's more to do and when you get used to the sliding controls, the ice slide is a breeze. Snowman's Land is a below-average follow-up but I think the Igloo, giant blowing snowman and Big Chilly help to make it memorable.

When I was a kid, I would always go into the CCM-slide first when I wanted to get the 100 coin star, but I get that it's a genuine complaint for some.

Lethal lava land would likely get its own episode! But I didn’t actually think about doing the bowser stages so I’ll definitely do that in the future!
