Chris’ cover of Nothing Else Matters is OUTSTANDING!!! I was shocked the first time I heard it. So so good! Stapleton’s voice is awesome.
Where would county music be today if not for Chris!! He has brought a whole new world listening to his music. I’m 75 years old and love the old country music, but I love his voice and style.
That’s why I love Jamey Johnson so much! He really takes me back to the good country music days!

Chris is double tracking to sing both parts, as James Hetfield did on the original (according to Rolling Stone.) And yep, he is absolutely playing the guitar. I'm not a guitarist, but there's something so unique and distinctive about the way he plays. I've seen him say in an interview that he doesn't consider himself to be the greatest guitarist, but he's great at just being him. Yep, I would agree that he is great at being him and go further to say that being him is pretty dang spectacular!

Yo, Sebs! Chris’ version gives me this back bayou, deep woods, swampy feel and it’s FANTASTIC! They could insert the track into the next Netflix crime drama set to take place in Louisiana and it would be RIGHTEOUS!
Chris has had many incarnations as a musician. He was a member of the SteelDrivers (a Bluegrass band) and the Jompson Brothers a Swamp rock group, both excellent!

Metallica does an excellent remake of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page". (that's coming from a die hard Seger fan, so I don't say that lightly)
Try the live version of chris Stapletons song called barely alive the quality isn't great however his voice is amazing in that performance.

This was on the special 50th (?) anniversary of the release of the original Metallica album. Many different artists did covers of the songs. Proceeds went to charities.
30th. Metallica, aka the Black Album, was released in 1991.
He actually did the harmony track as well, if I'm not mistaken.

This is an awesome cover. There is another equally excellent country corer of Metallica's Enter Sandman by the Zac Brown Band. To me the best part of it is the "guitar" solo. Which starts about the 3:30 mark.

Chris Stapleton is probably the most talented musician I've ever seen. And a shocker is Justin Timberlake is also an amazing musician. They do quite a few songs together.
Chris was part of a more rock group called “The Jompson Brothers” in 2010. They have one album on Apple Music.

But a song you should check out by George Jones is He Stopped Loving Her Today. This is a country must. It has been listed as the #1 country song of all time by many different magazines and charts.

Love the original but the thing about Chris is he is tru to the song but he ads more blues and demands you listen to the lyrics.

If covering a song an artist should never change the song, why would you cover it if its not great already?? However, an artist SHOULD interpret the song the way they would do it! Chris does that perfectly here! Also metallica does that great with Bob Segers song “Turn the Page”
