Waylon was the real deal, The Outlaw, Everyone tries to be like him. Chris doesn't try. He just is. The first real deal since Waylon. He's naturally a badass singer. And Morgan's vocals are brilliant. Great job.

Yah..... I came later to the party. I checked him out because he looked so much like one of my students. First time I heard him sing I was blown far, far away. Back when grit and pain and passion were all a part of Country music. Blessed to have lived long enough to hear this dear man.

Being the music snob I am, I wish I could be mad at all the bandwagon jumpers who suddenly like him since the awards... but damn! this guy deserves every single bit of attention and praise he can get. I could list a lot of amazingly talented country singers, but nobody touches his voice.

I saw the Timberlake/Stapleton performance on Facebook, which led me to a bunch of other videos of Chris, and Steeldriver. Now I'm a fan. It's not that people suddenly like him. It's just that it's probably the first time they've seen him perform. Isn't that how things usually go in the entertainment culture?

You are so right. I went back and listened to some of his very early songs... 2010 & 2011....the raw power and emotion are just part of him.
Chris is an intimate invitation. Every song he sings is like an invitation into his soul. I'm immediately engaged. His effortless mixed with conviction is what is haunting. Time stands still when I listen to him. I grew up listening to Willie, Waylon, Merle, Ronnie Milsap......I just revisited my childhood, excuse me while I go wipe the tears from my eyes.....
You are so right... as a girl, I listened to Hank Williams senior...... getting WSM late night on clear channel all the way up into Michigan. Now, at 75, I hear Chris Stapleton with that haunting power and I have hope that this will continue long after I am dust in the garden.

SOOOO MUCH SOUL!!! Saw him and his wife open for of all people GNR in Nashville! They definitely showed why they were chosen to do so. So epic! Axl for sure knows music when he sees it! Loved Chris and his wife, the love is so easy to see, just like I feel for my wife after almost 16 years now and I still shiver at the sight of her and feel so lucky to have her! She's my back up also! She stands beside me also!!

I'm a huge Guns n Roses fan someone once told me the best thing about GNR was that they came along and made rocknroll dangerous again I also love old country music especially Waylon country music these days sounds like nursery rhymes to me but Stapleton is like GNR he is what country music needs to be he sings with so much passion in his voice and people can relate to his music such a beautiful voice and GREAT songwriter
Good point. That gravel and pain in his voice..... it relates to how real people struggle and fight to survive with their hearts still beating and their souls still having hope. It's a Struggle and it hurts just to keep living each day... and it is all there in his voice.

It is a struggle for me and many people to survive I'm not saying that I have ever thought about doing something to myself. But one other thing you mentioned is HOPE and HOPE is one thing that you definitely need to have at times. Without HOPE it would be very difficult to want to keep going. 🌹🌹

He's making serious headway fast. He's written great songs for big name mainstream singers, even Adele covered one of his bluegrass songs!. I found him less than two years ago as the singer for the Steeldrivers... Any time I show people Chris, they are shocked. He turned heads at ACL here in Texas this year, and I saw him in New Braunfels last week- he sold out the show, and it was a rowdy crowd. Everyone there knew every word to all of his songs. Make way for this guy, he is a musical monster and extremely talented. I can't wait to see where his career takes him from this point. Be sure to check out Steeldrivers, and especially his recent live performances. This won't be the last you hear of Chris Stapleton!
