This man has many God given talents, song writing, guitar skills, but undoubtedly his vocal skills are unmatched. While I agree he's great. Waylon actually lived every word in the song. There's something about someone singing the truth that's unbeatable. This is a great cover, but nobody does Waylon quite like Waylon.

Playing bass guitar, Don Was .. famous record producer and part time bass player. Don Edward Fagenson, known professionally as Don Was, is an American musician, record producer and record executive. Primarily a bass player, Was co-founded the funk-rock band Was. In later years he produced songs and albums for many popular recording artists. Who has Don Was produced ??? Over the next two decades, Don worked with everyone from Jackson Browne and Bob Dylan to Willie Nelson and the Rolling Stones. The list of artists Don is credited producing includes: Bob Seger, Glenn Frey, Iggy Pop, Khaled, The B-52's, Barenaked Ladies and several albums for Bonnie Raitt. ~~ 🎶🎸🎹
While this is not Waylon or Mooney it's still pretty damn good. I wish these new guys would do something this great rather than the pop and rap crap county they are playing today.
Well, Mr. Mooney is no longer with us, bummer. This guy is one of the best alive. Ry Cooder has a song dedicated to "Mr. Mooney". It rocks, after all it is Ry. "Let me empty your ashtray Mr. Mooney". I believe the tune is "Prodigal Son".
I saw Emmylou and the hot band in 1976 opening up for the Willie Nelson family she had Rodney Crowell in the band at that time as well as a young Ricky Skaggs and they were definitely a hot band
I love watching the steel guitarist face! He is great to watch and especially to listen to! But then anyone associated with Chris or Morgan’s are great, or they wouldn’t be there. Talk about class, perfectionist and performing and giving the very best you have to give at each performance. That is what you get every time you go and listen to them. They wouldn’t be themselves to give any less.
This is a great version of this song. Chris & Wife are great as usual. Who is the band?? I'm trying to figure out who the Baritone player is. He's rippin' it up! So is the pedal steel player. I know Don Was is on bass. Should give more credit to the band!
This version kicks ass, don't misunderstand me, BUT, one of the hidden reasons why Waylon's version is so good is that kick drum on the off beat. You gotta listen for it, but its what makes Hoss' version unique. Go listen for it. Nobody else's version has that same kick drum pattern. This kicks ass though.
Such a humble cat, him and Luke Colmbs, exactly how I want my country stars to be, amazed to be there and thankful to the people that bought their stuff!! And props to Chris for dancin with the one that brought him!! His wife is an amazing singer and they go everywhere together!! Respect!!
I see Don Was on bass, Mickey Raphael on harp, George Marinelli on guitar, Matt Rollings on keyboards ( I think), Stapletons steel players name is Rob Turner. Anyone know who's drumming and playing the sunburst guitar?
He needs to put this song on one of his albums!
YESSSSS. i found this video by accident, and wondered why it wasn't on any of the Chris Stapleton CD's i own.
Sharon Mitchell This not his song. The original is by Waylon Jennings
And he does Waylon proud.
Evan Hester negative. Rodney Crowell is the original.
CHRIS STAPLETON does everyone proud! Just saying........
I actually grew up in Houston off Wayside drive. Area called Denver Harbor.
Still miss Waylon....
Y'all better thank Rodney Crowell for writing this song.
Viva the memory and music of Waylon.

Hell yeah
The guy playing bass looks like Hank jr. in the 80's
The steel lap top guitar is the best. Its great but its not Waylon. You cant beat that
Anyone have the band lineup?
Gta
My Lord.....Chris Stapleton singing with Morgane dancing and Everyone else playing their solos Awesomeness

AWESOME TALENT and he makes you feel his lyrics, knowing they are coming from the soul and he's rock'n it to a whole new level!!PLAY ON BROTHER AND SHOW EM HOW'S IT DONE
The blond back up singer is a knock out. HOT
this man is the REAL DEAL !
Two years and more Stapleton's added to their Family (Damn call u Bunnies!) Best friggin version of RC s Song
The incomparable Buddy Miller on guitar!
Robbie Turner on the psg and the guitar solos are awesome. Long live Waylon Jennings and his songs. Well done Chris Stapelton
I don't know who the guy is playing the steel guitar but I've been playing music 30 years and he's the best I've ever heard on the steel
John Baisden What about Waylon’s guy Moonie?
He’s good but not Moonie!!
Meh. You lost me at the Che Guevara sticker. I’m out ✌🏻
While this is not Waylon or Mooney it's still pretty damn good.
I’m 40. By the time I’m gone, CS will be in the pantheon of the greats. May already be.🤷♂️
Rodney Crowell SONG; Waylon COVER , peeople...
Bigelow John Great song, however it got here.
I think Emmylou Harris covered it as well
@@billjones1848 Emmylou did this a year before Waylon covered the Rodney Crowell tune. Rodney was in Emmylou's Hot Band at the time
I saw Emmylou and the hot band in 1976 opening up for the Willie Nelson family she had Rodney Crowell in the band at that time as well as a young Ricky Skaggs and they were definitely a hot band
Woohoo! Love this song!!! Steel guitar...awesome!!!
I love this song. He is taking it to a whole new level. Well, actually they are all up there kickin' ass.
I hate to be THAT guy, but I'd really appreciate it if y'all took the time to check out my cover of this bad-ass song on my channel!
+Michael Young --- I agree, it's way past time this duo are heard. Let um shout from the rafters!!!!!
Just found it and on my 12th in a row listen. I may just keep on
Who is on that lap steel? My god
Thats Robbie Turner, he played in Waylons last band.
Absolutely great! Killer performance from both Stapleton and wife AND the band! That brunette back-up singer was the cherry on top :-)
Can't be performed ANY BETTER!
This is my giddyup music that I put on first thing when I start the car......never tire of it
He is missing the twang in this song. Its good but its not Waylon.
I do love Chris Stapleton. But its not Waylon.
This is a great version of this song. Chris & Wife are great as usual. Who is the band?? I'm trying to figure out who the Baritone player is. He's rippin' it up! So is the pedal steel player. I know Don Was is on bass. Should give more credit to the band!
The great Buddy Miller with the trademark hat.
Chris's wife is Beautiful 😄
This version kicks ass, don't misunderstand me, BUT, one of the hidden reasons why Waylon's version is so good is that kick drum on the off beat. You gotta listen for it, but its what makes Hoss' version unique. Go listen for it. Nobody else's version has that same kick drum pattern. This kicks ass though.
Wow! Great rendition, I’m glad I found this.
Almost forgot! Thank You, Rodney Crowell, Too!
All i can say is I like this song.
I like Chris Stapleton. But there is just no replacement for Waylon.
Absolutely LOVE THIS! Try and sit still listen to this, I dare you hahahaha!
Absolutely pumped to go see his concert in 2 months, dont have a date, dont have a plan. Just ready to enjoy this mans music.
I WANT CHRIS STAPLETON'S Hat!!! ✔♥♥♥✔
Man, I could listen to this all day long.
For the past 2 days I have.
One drummer is Waylon's Richie Albright
Gwen Miller I thought that was him...
That's not George Marinelli. It is Buddy Miller with the hat
Just when I think he has done the best in country music..Chris sings another hot song!!
Sherry Ulmer Waylon is best ever look at symbol on curtain drrr..Waylon Song also
Karen, Chris Stapleton is the best..we all have our own opinion...rude comment.
Ladies. They are both great.
Sumbitch, this was refreshingly damn good.
