Jedd you have convinced me that you are the best guitar player in Nashville. Man you really deserve some recognition and respect. And you are also just a good guy.Good grief once in a lifetime performance.
Got to be in the top 5 best live performances of all time on RUclips. Every solo by every artist was out of this world perfect.
#1
Years later Jedd Hughes is still smoking from this performance.
Such an under-rated song by Rodney Crowell - one of the top 5 or 10 best r&r songs ever written, IMHO. And this version is the best I've ever heard. Jedd Hughes is a monster guitarist and steel player Steve Fishell... Damn, they're both CRAZY F-ing GREAT!
I’m not sure why you say the song is underrated. I have a playlist with 9 or 10 recordings of it.
@@TheMargarita1948 Then you, my dear, have EXCELLENT TASTE!
Live music just does not get any better than this!! Rodney and Emmylou with perfect harmony and the band is just smokin' strong!! The sound mix is dead on perfect.
One of my most prized possessions is a video of me singing "Till I can Gain Control Again" with Rodney in Telluride in '99.
And the memory of standing 6 ft from Emmylou and Mary Chapin Carpenter & Shawn Colvin as they sang under a canopy across from the Opera House.
Very cool my friend. I might be tempted to give up an arm or a leg to be that close to emmylou - and hope like hell she'd smile at me!
@@Scott-sv8mz She is definitely one of the most beautiful (inside and out) and classy women anywhere.
Now THIS is country Rock ‘n’ Roll at its finest.
absolute SHREDDING on lead guitar...good lord!!!!!!
Jedd Hughes burning down the barnyard.
The steel player whooo we..
Great tune...
This song is right in their wheelhouse
Wow! What an exciting performance! Strong driving beat, 2 exquisite country singers, perfect musicians who are in tune with each other... Really a treasure of country rock!
Very impressive and exciting performance of this 1977 country rock song. The best version I ever heard! The musicians are brilliant.
What a band!!!
Spiffed-up Jedd, who knew! Great stuff!
Jedd! Out of the shed, full on beast mode! 🤯🤯🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥
That guitar player Stuart is burning a hole in my brain fantastic
I just can’t stop revisiting this great performance, a great duo and a great band. Could it get any better than this? I really don’t think so.
i still watch it almost every day lol
@@danieldavis4494 Everyone should watch this daily, it’s the antidote to the blues & the times we’re living through.
I need to listen to this at least once a week!
Yeah they tore it up at Austin city limits that steel guitar player ripped it up what a great show!!!
Can it get better than this?? Yes! Viagra Boys cover....check it out.
This is a mind-blowing stuff what a great band
Rodney is the old master song writer. This is about the finest performance I’ve ever seen of this song.
Best version ever.
Best version of this modern classic that i've ever heard!!!
Incredible music played with real passion!
That tele was played accordingly. You all know every night is different. All that matters is he held the song. Jeeees
This really drives and grooves !
Blisters on my blisters...
CAN'T. STOP. WATCHING.
Emmylou still has the best hair in the business. Period!
Two of the most overlooked rhythm guitar players extant.
Emmylou is also the most exquisite vocal harmonist still kickin', especially with Rodney...
Also great songwriters.

You know it's really cool about this is how he take from his version originally and he's doing more of the Waylon rev up which is awesome.
Drummer has a nice feel and groove.
Nice groove :D
Drummer's name is Jerry Roe.
O M G ! This was GREAT! Love emmylou and Rodney! and after all these years still best friends started out together as practicaly kids! Amazing! :)
these are some real bad boys. don't get no better. the drummer be great as well, keeping that beat going
Each time I view this clip I enjoy it more. As this is my third comment about it I guess I’d best leave to other folk to comment. It is just great though !!!

Awesome performance. as good as it gets!
Just smokin!
The recreation of the Hot Band with both Rodney and new youngbloods? Outstanding!!!

steve fishell on pedal steel ... dude's a beast
pete keim Thank you for posting the band names. They’re amazing.
Great to let people know Pete,,this is just fkn kick ass boss man!!
Thank you for that info, amazing Maestros, especially Mr. Roe, makes me just want to chunk my sticks!! :)
Great song ,Rockin version too👍
Smokin' band. I attempt to play this song solo acoustic , but as you can imagine, it lacks a certain something. ;) Steve Fishell looks like a latter-day Roscoe Holcomb. Steve and Jedd dueling it out is great. Best version of this that I've ever heard. Yee- Haw!
Yeah ,I like Emmy Lou's version and Gary Stewart who I love, but this really rocks , he's got a great voice too,I have that first album great, that's a Goodin too
Really great concert! Check out the other fantastic tracks like 'Leaving Louisiana'...Terrific duo this!
If I ever git to them ther pearly gates...Damn .. I hope they play this when I arrive .. ASAP !
Mark Cuban on the keyboards, that's real funny. He almost killed the song with his not so great stride piano deal, not to say he ain't good...I'm sure he is...the guitar player does an excellent job...the rhythm section is flawless.. Albert Lee is da Man...he ain't ain't here tonight though n he dint often play with a stomp box distortion like this genius. This is a fantastic rendition - thank god, the good lord for RUclips!!!
Chris Tuttle, piano. Jedd Hughes, lead guitar. Steve Fishell, pedal steel. Byron House, bass guitar. Jerry Roe, drums.
Best show ACL ever had
Fantastic!
This should be released on DVD !
I agree should be on DVD. Unfortunately, as a "Web Exclusive" DVD ain't gonna happen. That's what they tell me at ACL anyway.
@@seven0314 That’s a damned shame !

Young Aussie on Lead Guitar, Jedd Hughes !
Didn't someone say "there's shredding, and there's Jedding"? He was smokin' as was the whole band.
those dudes on the keyboards and pedal steel guitar!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Drummer is really good. Feel like I know that guy from somewhere? Just can't remember his name. Awesome performance from all involved.
Jerry Roe is the drummer's name.
@@seven0314 Dave's son right?
All.
🤯
That's Jedd Hughes on rattlesnake guitar
What does rattlesnake mean? Hughes just soars on this song but his bandmates don't seem too happy with him.
Great player and great fella..
Thanks.
There's shredding and then there's jedding.
What is his full name? DAMN!
stephen malm Jedd Hughes is his name. Fantastic player, singer and songwriter.
He can f'ing play.
who is the great piano player?
Personally , I hear Waylon when listening . I never looked who wrote the song, that's on Waymore's Blues.
Rodney Crowell wrote it.
এভাবে বাঁচতে পারি না........Baby...
Lyrics:
I look for trouble and i found it, son
Straight down the barrel of a lawman's gun
I tried to run but i don't think I can
You make one move and you're a dead man friend
Ain't living long like this
Can't live at all like this, can i baby?
He slipped the handcuffs on behind my back
And left me reeling on a steel reel rack
They got'em all in the jailhouse baby
Ain't living long like this
Can't live at all like this, can i baby?
Grew up in Houston off the wayside drives
Son of a carhop and some all-night dives
Dad drove a stock car to an early death
All i remember was a drunk man's breath
Ain't living long like this
Can't live at all like this, can i baby?
You know the story how the wheel goes 'round
Don't let them take you to the man downtown
Can't sleep at all in a jailhouse baby
Ain't living long like this
Can't live at all like this, can i baby?
I live with Angel she's a roadhouse queen
Makes Texas Ruby look like Sandra Dee
I want to love her but i don't know-how
I'm at the bottom in the jailhouse now
Ain't living long like this
Can't live at all like this, can i baby?
You know the story about the jailhouse rock
Don't want to do it but just don't get caught
They got'em all in the jailhouse baby
Ain't living long like this
Can't live at all like this, can i baby?
Check out Copper Chief's version, Killer.
Hey, is that Mark Cuban on keyboards?! LOL I've always had the opinion that a lot of "country" players just didn't "let it out", so to speak. I figured that a lot of those players spent so much time as backing guys in the studio, that they just didn't want to "show up" the main event person. Not so here! I've been listening to Crowell and Emmy Lou since their Hot Band days, still great!
That's Chris Tuttle playing the piano for this piece.
How Jedd Hughes hasn't caught 🔥 is beyond me.
He's in recovery now thank goodness. Opened and played back up for Vince Gill a couple of years ago. Spoke of his battle that night.. Perhaps his future will be brighter
Burned the barnyard down...
It's not too late!
Allen Ginsberg can surely play that steel guitar
THE REEL SHIT.......
Not too many songs where EmmyLou is just....window dressing!! LOL
oh
Who the hell is the Tele player......oh boy! Can he play...Anyone...?
Jedd Hughes.
@@doubleotwentyone Thank you & much appreciated!
Who is that guitar player? Wow!
Jedd Hughes
@@truckerkevthepaidtourist Thanks!
@@carlquance2542 actually I typed a little too fast it is Jed but it's actually Jedd Hughes sorry.
Now the interesting thing he's in Australian who like Keith Urban came to America
why mono?
Ignorance. Pure, unadulterated uni-channel mixing. Hi-def mono; what a concept!
Still worth a listen, if not a download...
