I would argue, strongly (while still having love for the Town Car), that the Mark VII LSC was the best American luxury (or any type of) car of the decade. Especially the 1988 model.
The white Town Car you stated to be a Cartier model is not correct...that is a 1989 Signature Series.

Had new in 1981 , Chrysler Imperial. Top of line. $23K back then. It truly was a beautiful automobile. Had the all new EFI. That was very bad. Chrysler paid to have converted to carburetor at $2,000.
We kept the car until 1985 and traded in on the new Chrysler 5TH Avenue. ( Had zero issues) Lee Iacocca was chairman of the board at Chrysler Corporation. Thanks for the memories!

The Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham (just Brougham starting in 1987), and the d’Elegance version in particular, was the true king of the road and ultimate luxury car in the 1980s.

I'm nostalgic. I remember wanting that Seville. And I was only in my teens and early twenties in the 1980s.

Town Car is fine, but the Mk VII Continental was the bee's knees for the decade. Nothing else was close.

I would have exchanged the Mark VII for the Fifth Avenue. First with composite headlights, first American car to offer ABS and would do doughnuts around that Diplomat in drag. Also the Landau top wasn't exclusive to the Fifth Avenue. It was also on the New Yorker. Buick reintroduced it on the Riveria for 1989, Cadillac offered it on their Coupe de Villes, Brougham Coupes and Eldorados. Lincoln offered something similar but it was more of a half cabriolet top with a cross bar spanning the B-pillars. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

About the Fifth Ave should be mentioned, that is based on the late 70s LeBaron.

Imperial also suffered from being built on a midlevel Chrysler platform. Its ride was criticized for non-luxe standards of comfort and driving ease.

I waited all the way to the end of the video to see if you corrected the last featured vehicle, which you stated was the full-size 1980 to 1989 Cadillac (Fleetwood) Brougham. The model ran from 1980 to 1992! 1990/91/92 had updated front header panel to include euro-style one-piece headlamps being the only major difference. The Chevy Caprice came out with the one-piece design for the 1989 model year, FYI.

The 81-83 Imperial was one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Unfortunately its EFI system was crap. Even Sinatra himself got stranded by his own one & that was the end of it

Are you kidding?! The 'Imperial' was a steaming pile. As delivered the first batch barely even ran so got converted back to a carburetor and a pathetic 140 net hp. The entire car was bumper to bumper junk, the kind of car that almost put Chrysler out of business.

Everyone likes what they like, with that being said, to me , the second generation sevills are just plain ugly. The shape of the rear end just doesn't fit the rest of the car.
