    I think Alex, maybe 1 person in 100 thinks they’re a photographer, and more realistically 1 person in a thousand actually is. I was in France last weekend (❤) walked across the Seine at about 8pm, so kinda dark, there was a boat load of people going under the bridge, i whipped out my phone and did what 999/1000 people actually do……point and shoot…… i did it a few times, and every single shot was stunning. Clear, vivid, in focus, beautifully crisp and caught the moment. And that has been my experience with this, and indeed my last few Samsungs. They deliver a vibrant fun image and preserve a wonderful memory. Surely we cant ask for anymore than that?

      The iPhone pill is for 3D Face-ID something only Honor and Huawei also have. It is one feature that differentiates it from run of the mill Android, and Apple would be stupid to change it because people put form over function. Next year we get a pin-hole as Apple is developing an under-display sensor for 3D. But the face ID is one of the main features I buy an iPhone for. Without it, it would be just another Android looking device and if you know anything about branding, that is shooting yourself in the foot.

      Gotta get both. Use to go back and forth and finally I said that's it! Have 15 pro, z fold 5 and using both all the time is just so releaving. Use the fold most of the time but have my iphone for communication mostly. If you can afford both just do it, I had some trade ins, promo codes so all that put a dent in $$. But, if I had to have just one phone.. go with s24 ultra all day. 15 pro sucks to be honest compared to the fold but having both it doesn't matter. I didn't go with s23 ultra or get s24 because I didn't want to carry 2 slabs all the time and having smaller pro and fold is easier to carry if I'm out. I also have Galaxy watch 6 classic and apple watch. Sometimes I wear apple watch and sometimes the galaxy.

      Yeah, I get you, man. No worries. I'm just saying this because I care. I've been using Samsung for a while now and I know they can do better. I mean, I called the S23U the phone of the year last year before anyone else did. But I think it's fair to criticize them when we're paying so much for a smartphone. Same thing with Apple. I gave them a hard time for overheating the iPhone and nerfing the iPad.

    • @latviangypsy
      @latviangypsy 5 месяцев назад

      I particularly love "nitpicking" reviews because I feel like it gives a potential consumer information they didn't know they needed. I want reviews that get into the nitty gritty so I don't waste thousands of dollars on something that looks nice compared against another phone, but in reality, there are a lot of little issues that would maybe be a deal breaker for some.
      Like the shutter lag. That's a main deal breaker for me, so it's between the OnePlus 12, iPhone 15 pro max and the SGx24U.

    The new update gave 3 levels of Vividness, right
    so my question is
    What level of the 3 levels of vividness is equal to the vividness of s22 ultra 🤔

    • @AlexGTech
      @AlexGTech  7 месяцев назад +4

      In my quick tests, the levels are actually just two (level 1 doesn't do anything and leaves it as it was, level 2 slightly adds more saturation and level 3 does that again.) At level 3 I found content to have too much green and red. So I manually toned those down in the sliders above. That got to pretty much a similar picture to what I had on the S23U (which would be close to the S22U too)

    2:14 call it whatever you want, pictures of moving subjects still end up blurry and unusable. And that's on auto mode (I really don't think many people use 50 or 200 mpix modes). Year after year after year - the same thing. Competition solved it a long time ago, so I guess the main reason why Samsung ignores that are users that are "ok" with blurry pictures of people, kids, pets...

    • @AlexGTech

    I kept my ZFold5 over the S24 Ultra because of the inconsistent performance of the camera. I took an entire week to compare both devices side by side and my ZFold5 produced photos that were just as good as the S24 Ultra and in some cases better. When the S24 Ultra took a good photo it was really good but when it wasn't it was very poor. If I received the update during my evaluation period I probably would have chosen the S24 Ultra. I think I'm going to wait and see what the ZFold 6 has to offer before deciding which one to use long term. I upgraded from the S23U. I wasn't going to, but the deals meant I paid about £60 after deals, freebies and trade-ins. On paper, I was not expecting much; it looked like an iterative sideways upgrade, and it transpired that it was a bit more of a downgrade for me (cameras ATM even after the update - very inconsistent).
    Battery life is similar to S23U, as is performance. I never complained about the speed of day-to-day stuff on the S23U, so the S24U makes little noticeable difference. I have not used any AI that will come to the S23U. The flat display was a bonus as I could finally wear a tempered screen protector. But what they gave they took away as a tempered screen protector will ruin the anti-glare display's benefits!
    I kept it as the net cost was nominal. I would only recommend an upgrade from the S23U with good deals. For those upgrading from older phones, the S23U and S24U are both excellent but more just two variants of the same phone rather than any noteworthy differences.

    I wanted to see if there was any criticism of the every day usage stuff to make sure I wasn't making a mistake with the S24, but turns out it is just criticism of the camera in ways most people probably won't care enough about.
    I respect the review nonetheless, because he is just sharing his use case but also realize he likely considers himself a professional photographer/video Grapher of sorts and cameras are just subjective mostly on smartphones. I personally find the pixels to have the best cameras in my opinion for example.
    Anywho, since most of the video is just walking about a camera and myself alongside most others aren't photographers and may just share something on social media or whatevs at best I'd say as long as ypu don't mind the squared corners/bigger phone then it doesn't sound like too much criticism while also offering more than iphones do at the moment since they have none of AI that can actually be useful ironically even in photography/cameras.

    The resolution of the display is only slightly increased from the note 10 plus. I'd rather get a higher resolution in exchange for removing the stylus and selfie camera. The haptic feedback is better on the Sony xperia, and it needs SD card expansion. Samsung is slowly turning into apple by removing stuff that everyone expects to be there. They want you to buy the more expensive phone instead of upgrading the storage with SD card on your own terms.

    I hate my S24's camera. It DOES have shutter lag. Especially in low-light scenarios. I used my in-laws iPhone 11 and it takes better photos in low-light scenarios, even with moving subjects! If the basic 11 can do that, I can only imagine how the current Pro series would look! Oh yeah, don't even get me started on they take videos in comparison!

      I recently upgraded from a 13 Pro to Pixel 8 Pro. I had been on Apple since my last Samsung S9+. They made huge leaps in functionality and polish. I find myself really appreciating the little extras in Android 14 (even more since I revived my Nova Launcher setup). Great video as always. A few points which are preventing me switching from iPhone:
    1. Screen issue - you just don’t get this with Apple, pretty much all displays across their devices from MacBooks to iPhones are same colour profiles.
    2. Camera consistency - again, you just own what you’re getting with iPhones when taking a shot and also doesn’t change if you change to 48mp etc.
    3. Software just isn’t as reliable. macOS is a big dealbreaker with the ecosystem, I know there’s that link to Windows workaround but it’s just not the same - integration is just not as good.
    I’d love to switch to Samsung but I still think there’s reservations for this.

    • @AlexGTech
      @AlexGTech  7 месяцев назад

      Agree on the inconsistency between lenses. That 50MP looks pretty different between main and 5X lenses. I can't challenge the MacOS point either. It's still a pain today to move things between Android and Mac. There are workarounds but it's not as convenient

      I've been in the same boat as you, I can't decide between OnePlus 12 And the Samsung Galaxy s24 ultra. But I have noticed a major difference in Samsung's "social media aesthetics" are superior. OnePlus is the best budget, all-around powerful and fast phone. But Samsung just has that edge with photography. The only thing that's a deal breaker for me is the shutter lag, which he touched on in the video.
      My fiance has a OnePlus and I have the s20+, my photos are so vivid, sharp, contrast is nice, and looks professional for still shots. His OnePlus 7 photos were very drab, unpleasant colors for food photography -- they were a bit dulled and greyish, but he does have a 7 🤣
      His micro shots are better though. My s20+ struggled with focusing close shots.

      under Wifi, Just click on the 3 dots and go into Intelligent Wi-Fi
      - Scroll all the way to the bottom and tap Intelligent Wifi a bunch of times. That will enable Connectivity Labs.
      It shows you the Wifi bands its been using but more importantly, it lets you inspect your Home Wifi, so at the very least you can tell when a router is poorly configured, or perhaps not placed in the best location.

S23’s screen is more vibrant but tru tone is amazing. Battery wise iPhone last longer. Camera. Landscape pictures looks better on samsung but people and moving objects better on iPhone. I miss swipe back gesture. And fast charging. In almost a year of using s23 ultra I have used multitasking maybe 4 times. Unlocking I prefer face Id. My priorities smoothness and camera. Would it be possible for you to make a comparison video of uploading story and post quality in Instagram for both videos and photos between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S24
    Ultra?
    Samsung announced that they have done a partnership with insta for optimisation

      Grat idea! I have used that in my first S24U review, but I didn't compare it with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. First impressions? I thought the audio was great but the selfie camera doesn't really help, blown out skies and very shaky footage. But the main camera or using "Duo" on Insta worked a treat! Samsung's part of the gorilla Glass is the only one that can scratch quite easily. I think there's something they are not telling us. For the photos, don't wait for the Sun to start rising or start falling, the photos will turn extremely yellow. Take the pictures on a cooler day or during the morning hours or early evening hours, that is for outdoor photos

      I think in low light you'd have to use Pro video. I think using Pro Video makes the S24U video really competitive. The problem is not that intuitive, whereas the iPhone is a little easier for most people. Although as soon as light dips, the iPhone struggles too.

    Have a fold 5 and new 24 ultra, the ultra blows my fold 5 away. Screen quality , battery life , cameras, smoothness. Really disappointing cameras on my fold 5 are a deal breaker for me which is why I bought the ultra. Tried a 15 pro max but the overly slow animations , poor zoom when taking pictures of my soon playing football , messy screen of apps without an app drawer all were deal breakers too.

    • @AlexGTech

      Yes, I think if Samsung got better cameras on the Fold, many people would go for that instead of the S24U. Couldn't agree more on the speed of operating iOS. Never noticed that until I tried Android 😅

    • @AlexGTech
      @AlexGTech  6 месяцев назад

      Honestly, I am not sure I do! I mean I know it's a way to increase quality and reduce noise and make pictures appear higher resolution whilst maintaining smaller sizes, but what I'm experiencing is the opposite of that? I'm seeing the 50MP image in RAW look like it was taken in 2003 😆

    • @fancycavegaming620
      @fancycavegaming620 6 месяцев назад

      @@AlexGTech The sensor bundles the elements in 12mp meaning it uses 4 together as one large element instead of one tiny one by itself in 50mp(48), the 12mp image is going to be better in low light because that binning. Maybe the apple phones do it better in low light with 50mp (I'm not sure) but if that's the case, certainly samsung would have room for improvement.

    What about using BlackMagic Cam with the iPhone to actually get pro controls...I understand it should be in the IOS camera app. I'm just as frustrated about it, don't get me wrong, but that app is powerful, and allows full control of the iPhones camera's.
    I have a iPhone 15 Pro Max as my main phone, and a s24 (base model). I like both phones. The s24 seems snappier in scrolling and things, but that’s just a design decision by Apple to not speed up animations. I find the s24 to scroll too fast often. I’ll scroll right past what I was looking for, with just a simple scroll. I’m sure there’s a setting for it, but in it's base form, it's a little much.
    When it comes to the cameras, the iPhone takes the cake imho. The s24 takes great photos, but often lacks the dynamic range and color accuracy of the iPhone. Videos aren't even close. The iPhone is clearly the superior phone at capturing and processing video.
    I'm sure if I had the S24Ultra, that I would enjoy the camera more. But my reasoning for getting the s24 base, was size...I was looking for a smaller phone to take out with me. Not to mention, so I can use the iphone for capturing and content creation, and th s24 for things like social media, etc.
    Regardless, all these phones are great! You really can't go wrong with any of the flagships. They are all so close in performance, that it's a win win for all of us.
    This is crazy...but still prefer the IOS experience. I don't know what it is about it, but I just do. This is coming from a avid Android user, that only own Android devices (mainly Galaxy's) and was against iPhones for the longest time. My first iPhone was the 11 Pro Max. It was still working AMAZING when I traded it in. It was the best phone I owned up until that point. Came from the S8, to the 11 Pro Max.

      I 100% recommend using BlackMagic's app with the iPhone. That's exactly what I said in my iPhone reviews. And that is what the real pros use too. I watched the behind the scenes of how they filmed the Apple event and they use that very app. And I agree, hard to go 'wrong' with these flagships, they just go about it in different ways and offer different pros and cons

      @@AlexGTech I think you were the channel that I just recently watched, where you went in depth about the BlackMagic App and hoe amazing it actually is....I apologize, bc I've been watching so many of these videos, just out of pure curiosity, that I probably glossed right over the fact you were the channel that was advocating and showing viewers the power of that app.
      I watched that video prior to this one, the other day...so the chronological order was off, but I really appreciated your reviews, perspectives, and insights of using these phones and their camera systems.
