- Reviewing the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra after some long-term personal testing, including camera improvements, AI shenanigans and gaming performance. There's lots to love with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, from the battery life and Genshin Impact skills to that improved camera zoom. But is it the best 2024 smartphone vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Nubia Z60 Ultra etc?
This near 7-inch titan is certainly one of the biggest phones around, boasting a crisp QHD AMOLED screen and beefy stereo speakers. Gamers will enjoy the smooth performance on intensive titles like Genshin, while Samsung's S Pen is once again stashed inside the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Upgrades vs the S23 Ultra and S24 Plus include that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 brain (a definite boost in the UK), as well as the powerful camera setup. The Samsung S24 Ultra boasts an excellent zoom arrangement, especially when shooting portrait pics or video with family or pets. However, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra still beats this Galaxy smartphone for contrast shots and pro video tools.

I got the S24 Ultra and it is my first flagship as the cost is too high IMO. Only reason I got this one is that mobile company gave me a half-price deal on the 512GB model. Loving it so far.

Just upgraded to the ultra from an s10. First new phone in 5 years ive had to relearn the new systems and gestures. The s10 was and still is a great phone. It was hard to give up

I agree that the Samsung keyboard is very poor. Gboard is definitely an improvement, but I think the best I've used so far is the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard. The autocorrect is next level and the word prediction is excellent.
I've been using Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard for a few years now. It's one of the first apps I install on a new phone or whenever I factory reset my phone.
Yeah, SwiftKey is excellent! I think they need to add an AI function button on it but other than that I think it's the best out there!

IDK if it's the case for english speakers but I've never had any problems with the Samsung keyboard
I got the Galaxy S24 Plus. It is nearly perfect, especially the battery life. I'm glad I got the smaller one.

@pillepolle3122 believe it or not, it has practically the same specs and the 8 gen 2 instead of the exynos 2400 gives it a longer battery life despite the smaller battery due to better thermal management on the special made snapdragon chipset

@@Georgio-Giotto I usually get 8 - 10 hours of screen on time. I suppose if you were gaming nonstop, it might be lower. But with my usage, it's consistently 8 - 10.

I upgraded my Exynos S22 Ultra to the S24 Ultra and I'm loving it so far. The most noticeable difference is the battery life, such a game changer for me! However, one issues that still persists from the previous phone is that a lot of the times the notifications come in late, specifically when I unlock my phone. All of a sudden, all notifications just start coming in. I've seen that a lot of people have had this issue for years with Samsung phones, and some are saying that this is a typical issue with Android phones in general. Mr. Spurt, have you noticed such problems with delayed notifications?

You can toggle the apps you want to receive notifications from to not be affected by this battery saving behaviour, just hold an app icon, go to information about the app, go to battery and select unlimited. Now this app should be able to work in the background even if the phone is locked/in deep sleep, so that you get all your notifications.
Swipe down the scroll menu and look for the sync option and enable it. That's it. Sorry for my English

I have used the Galaxy Note 10 Lite for four years and had the Galaxy Note 4 for a few years before that, and the S-pen is absolutely essential for me. So, I just ordered the S24 Ultra, but I don't have giant hands and really wish I could get a slightly smaller model with the S-pen. I tried it out in a shop and almost changed my mind about buying it because it's considerably less comfortable to hold than the Note 10 Lite. I hope I'll get used to it.

Ordered this phone for myself and my partner we got them half off through Google Fi and while I'm not sure 1k is worth it 600+ certainly is I'm sure after watching this! Very excited and also never had a phone in my fav color, purple.

i got the purple as well my carrier had a deal if you turned in a device worth atleast 75 trade in value you got 1200 to a new phone got the storage upgrade size to the 512 and am effectivelly only paying 200 for the phone 5 bucks for 36 months

I had zfold5 and traded for s24u no regrets and i really love every bit of it! The boxy from factor is a different user experience, media consumption is much more enjoyable

Thinking of doing the same. The aspect ratios on the Fold5 are just annoying - and this is coming from someone thats been exclusively rocking Folds since the Fold2 release. The actual screen space taken up by apps/games/movies when at the right aspect ratio ends up being essentially the same as just having the Ultra. Multi-tasking is nice but not used enough to be missed.

I put it in case so sharp corners don't bother me. I put a glass screen protector on, so I miss out on the glare free screen. I take handwritten notes every day and wish I had other flagship options with an SPen. I'm a 2 handed user and find the size in a slim phone case is perfect for pocket storage and usability. I wasn't going to upgrade from my s23 ultra, but got drawn in by the 7 year updates and the flat screen. The only thing that will cause me to upgrade for a few years is if they come out with a user swappable battery model with an irblaster.

Been enjoying mine, especially the flat non reflective screen. I do wish they had of left the 10x optical zoom though good thing i still habe my s23 ultra.
I have been iPhone all of my life and recently after seeing a commercial this galaxy S24 caught my eye I’m pondering whether I should switch or not. This video nudged me a little over towards switching, it is just hard to switch considering I have been iPhone all my life. I switched to Samsung from iPhone about 3 years ago. I have an S21 Ultra and am about to get the S24 Ultra.
Don’t do it, you’ll regret it… I’ve switched twice now in my life, from iPhone to Android (samsung) and was initially impressed with some of the customization features and options but those get old real fast and after a week or two you don’t even bother with them anymore. The experience, while much better on the s24U compared to previous years Android experience, pales in comparison to just how smooth and seamless the iPhone is… it’s just more refined in every way and you’ll see that pretty quick if you decide to switch.
If you do decide to switch I’d recommend NOT getting rid of your iPhone just yet as you’ll definitely be back to it within a few months if not weeks…. Android just isn’t there yet and they try to make up for that with gimmicky features … simple minds are easily entertained with these …. for awhile….
The S 24 was marketed purely on AI features, I'd be kicking myself now if I just purchased an s24 only to find out that 99% of the AI features are coming to the most recent devices.

I got the 24 ultra for 1 month now. Aside from the camera quality inconsistency, it's the perfect phone for me. Customised everything to my liking and lifestyle. From the home screen to smart thing , modes and routines . For me it's the second time in my life I feel this is the perfect phone for me (the other time was with a note 8😅). Great review and a big thumbs up.

The problem is i need a watch to go with it, in your professional opinion which would be the best option, i dont need to fly to the moon on it but i do need all day notification. I see an overwhelming love towards the S24+ and after trying it out at the store, I get it. It has the same footprint as my Galaxy A50. Just with a slight bump up in thickness. This size is perfect for smartphones and A50 has been treating me well with its build. I doubt S24+ would upset me over it if I had the money to buy one.

But it just seemed funny to me how u put in a comparison the A50 cuz I had it a while back and its really ugly compared to any flagship with thinner edges and the same dimensions. Its not the same when u got two phones with same dimensions, but different screen to body ratio. Plus I find it funny how u said it wouldnt upset u if u could buy S24+ like no sht, no one would be 😂all good tho
@darna02 a50 is a beautiful device. Thin and lightweight with no camera bump, and the back color is great. Sure it doesn't have the thinnest bezels but we are talking about the overall build.
Also, many prefer the s23 over s23+ because of its size.

I am currently using the flip 3 and i was thinking about getting the S24 Ultra in July this year but I think I will wait for the S25 Ultra. If it has major improvements then it's a win, if it's worse (because of a exynos chipset in europe) it's still a win because I will then get the S24 Ultra for a lower price
S24 plus for me. Love it: the size and rounded corners are nice. I rarely used my S pen when I had the S22 ultra.

Excluding the apparent manufacturing issues, best screen on a phone hands down. I sold mine after a couple weeks, I just don't like One UI and I wish the back was curved and the frame didn't add so much width. I think I'm going with the Honor Magic 6 Pro or waiting for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

How reliable is the ultrasonic fingerprint reader? I'm on a Pixel 8 Pro and frankly I'm tired of getting timed out of my company's SSO app because the optical fingerprint reader constantly shits the bed and refuses to recognize any prints which flags me and puts me into timeout.
Sensor is good. If you plan on using a screen protector get the Torras screen protector. A bit pricey (25 USD) but it comes with an installation kit and the sensor acts as if there's no screen protector applied at all.
It works quite well for me and much better than my old Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus. It also works with a cheaper screen protector, but I am now using it without one to avoid losing the anti-reflection feature. However, to avoid the risk of cracking the display, I am using a very protective case.
@@MarcelaoVMS you can use official Samsung anti reflective screen protector, you lose just a tiny bit of reflectiveness, but save screen from scratches.
It works good by itself.
A tempered screen protector can cause issues, but works mostly.
Screen by itself though, works flawlessly.

Samsung game hub set the framerate on games to 48hz you have to start a game pull out the little controller from the right side of the screen tap on it go into game settings and turn off 48hz mode.
Great review! I have my new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra being delivered tomorrow. I currently own an S20, which has been a great phone, but nearly all the internal memory of its 128 gb is almost spent. Thus I opted for 512 gb on this new s24 ultra. Can't wait! Thanks for the video, because of it I know I made the right decision...
Love the phone and a good case solves the sharp corners issue. It proper hates Android Auto though and is pretty much unusable at times in the car.
8:57 can confirm, the glass is FAAAR more resilient to scratches than my previous s23 ultra, it got a tonne of microscratches just from taking in and out my pocket, and I only had it a few months b4 upgrading. 2 months now and the s24 ultras screen is as pristine as day i got it

I have the s22+ ive always wanted the ultra version but always bailed out of getting one. Should i stick with the plus version, which would be exynos or bight the bullet and get the ultra.

@@sparkylights6069 it was a flagship device only 2 years ago so it's got plenty of life still in it, and the upgrade won't feel like that much honestly, but it might in another year or two. Plus it's better for sustainability to keep phones for longer and will save you money 😊

i got mine in feb on sky mobile, 44 quid a month, i love this phone more than anything, wanted a ultra for ages as the best samsung ive before was the s7 edge, proper loved that samsung
Got it at launch as an upgrade from the S23 Ultra. Very happy with it so far. Battery has improved, it is snappier and the flat screen (plus anti-reflection) is great. Also, I prefer the camera and think it is more versatile. The only downside is long zoom as that seemed slightly better on the S23 Ultra. I rarely use that anyway so not a big loss. Overall very happy, although the AI features currently seem a bit gimmicky. Hopefully they will grow on me as time goes on...
Re spen, its rarely used if um honest. Re signing docs as all youtubers say its good for, they should also know and tell you that you can just enter your signature once in the software and its there ready to be inserted in any pdf that needs a signature. Zero need to re-sign.
I find the samsung keyboard perfectly good.
I still rock the entry level 2019 Samsung Note 10+ with its 256gb and 12gb ram which works faster now than when i boughtbit due to updates etc. Camera is still great though wont be to todays level of detail obviously, but still capable of great pics. Battery life stll very good.
Plus i have an ssd card slot for my 1gb movie and tv collection.
Without an sd card slot i feel 512gb is minimum required esp if theres a goos 50mb or 100mb camera as those files willbe crazy large, and we use our phones for SO much more nowadays than 5 yrs ago.
My brother in law just upgrade his note 10+ to the 24u and loves it so im sure it great.
I realise the game has moved on so Im looking toward the Fold 5 or upcoming 6, or Oneplus open instead.

I think Samsung needs to perfect little discrepancies like producing dslr like camera photos ...maybe they could work with camera makers or photographers to get the best camera phone closer to what the iPhone is capable of or better then the 'optimization 'of the software though having gone very far can still go some way for perfection in terms of how animations are executed

Got mine a few days before release from Samsung. Initially I was impressed and am still very much satisfied with the S24 Ultra. (Switched from Z Fold 3)
Beautiful screen, great battery life, amazing build quality, new one UI is finally hitting it's stride. I couldn't be happier with my upgrade.
I decided a google pixel 4a would fit my needs and my pants best, so i just bought one, a bit dated but hopefully they still send a surprise update or 2 at me even though i think officially updates have ended.. 📱
Honestly I really like the sharp corners. That's one reason I picked the phone. The whole blocky rectangle design is how I like it
I got an S24 Ultra, has been perfect for my needs in every way, especially as an S Pen enjoyer (I use it about 50% of the time I use the phone) and Galaxy AI has been very handy with website summaries when doing research. Just upgraded to this phone from the S21 Ultra, mainly for the camera, it's all round better. The pen is very useful, snugly fitting out of the way. I love the looks of the whole phone, the proportions, the weight, the sharp edges are not really sharp and with a case, even less so. I usually keep my phones for as long as I can and I feel this one fits the bill, it is an amazing piece of tech.
I almost buy one secondhand, but the 6.1 update came to s23 series, so I desided to stay😁
With trade in and all that I was wondering Whether I should just wait for the twenty five after they work out all the bugs of this one... What do you think...🎉

i'm just wondering the screen Anti reflective is worth compare to the S24+ ? anyone using S24+ and like missing out on this alot or not?
Why pay 1300 for a useless gimmick? Sure, it's going to be nice but how often are you going to need it? If you apply a screen protector there goes that anti reflectiveness. S24+ is a good device (I own it) and battery gets the job done for me (120hz, 1440p, 5G)
I got the Samsungs brand anti reflective screen protector and it retains the anti reflectiveness

If you could wait, then I would wait for the S25 because it will come with more RAM and better specifications.

I’m still rocking my s20FE as well and I suppose the reason why I haven’t HAD to upgrade yet is that it’s still a bloody good phone😂. The S25U may get me though…

It is a really good phone with some great specs and features and well worth the money but the only things that is holding me back from buying it is the lack of basic features like the Headphone Jack and a Micro SD card slot

I have s24 ultra, whenever i take the phone in sun within few mins.. Its peak brighness goes down even little heat, the phone shows highest brigntness but in reality its like 50% bright, please help is this problem or heat management by phone.
I don't want curved screens anymore and OnePlus phones are notorious for green lines going through her screens. Their phones are cheap with poor quality control. That's the same for pixels

I've had it since release, and it's a great phone. The cameras are kind of a let down though, it just doesn't seem to take as good pictures without fidgeting with it. Oh well. It's a gorgeous phone and the battery lasts forever.

This RUclips people never talk about the Problems. Im testing Smartphones too and i found on every device at least something and they never talk about it.
