I really dig this album, I think the issue when I first heard it was, my expectations were set soooo high from their last album Like Clockwork. That had to be one of the best albums of the decade Mann and one of my personal favorites. So yea, I guess it maybe was kind of a let down at first, but I still like the album. Hope their next album is a tad darker though.
Like Clockwork is a good album. Not their best IMO but good(a little slow) Villians is amazing. I like the whole vibe throughout the album. I miss the darkness of the Songs for the Deaf and Rated R days though :(
At some point I thought I am one of the very few people who love it. Glad there are more who can appreciate modern qotsa without repeating "WHERE'S SONGS FOR THE DEAF?!?!"
Thought the exact same thing. My personal favourite on the album. I'm curious about it's origins, how much ronson had to do with that track and in what parts. A whole range of things really and hearing about Mikey's scream didn't really satisfy my itch per se.
Love FDFM, easily no doubt my fav track off Villains LP. Not just that but also fav new track to watch/listen to em play live! The long intro when played in concert is just so bad friggin’ ass! Kinda reminds me of a cool ass intro you’d hear played for some hit at a 70’s rock concert. I will say though... if there is a song to complain about off the Villains LP, it’s no doubt ‘Fortress’! I just don’t get/see why anyone loves that track. God, I mean I just absolutely love QOTSA, they are no doubt #2 or #3 in my ‘Mt. Rushmore’ of all-time fav rock groups! BUT... I have to say that there are unfortunately only just a few or so trks found thruout the entire QOTSA catalogue of music that I have just never been able to like & Fortress is no doubt one of em!
