- Coaster launches are some of my favorite things about them. There are many different ways to make a coaster launch great so in this video we talk about the POWER of coaster launches (literally and figurativley)

Top Thrill Dragster Launch: 🏎⬅️⬅️⬅️⬅️⬅️
Copperhead Strike Launch: 🐌🐌🐌
Copperhead Strike actually has a good launch. They increased the acceleration within the past few months so you get a decent gut punch out of the first launch.
@@zerogcoasters cool to know. Thanks!
Mack launches
I love how you didnt mean to but the snails are going backwards
dragster:🏎 🏎. 🏎 🏎 🏎 🏎
Xelerator: 🚀🚀🚀🚀
Logged on RUclips hoping to see a new Coastoons video. Was not disappointed.
Sqme
Same lmao
Ask coastoons have you Bern to Liseberg????
wtf are you logging out of account whenever you leave youtube or something?
@@waveiscursedyour always one of those people who had to go after every comment you see
This is the first “The Power Of” that discusses physical power.
My fav launch is Taron by far. it's strong and the most important element, the sound! it's more than half of the experiance and you can hear it before entering the park so the anticipation is there before even thinking about getting in the queue
When you use the back entrance yes, and its realy great
You’re darn right Dragster has the best launch! I haven’t done Kingda Ka, but Dragster is unbelievable.
Eh, Ka is more intense in my opinion. Doesn't mean dragster isn't the better ride, but Ka is still great and underrated in my opinion
Maxx Force's launch is better than any of the accelerator launches and thts hard to beat
@@MoneyMakeOnlineEasy maxx force is nothing compared to things like… uh, do dodonpa
@@ax8te lol Do Dodonpa is a dream for sure. I was talkin about in the US, even then Maxx Force might be the most intense accel after Do?
I love going on Taron Row 1 with friends who haven't experienced it before. ^^
Lightning rods launch is so good it launches you while a car’s engine is reving it sounds so good
I personally really like Xcelerator's launch. The raw acceleration get me everytime. (Keep in mind I haven't ridden that launch coasters.)
"lightning rod without a launch" 😢😢😢
With Thunderbird being the only launched coaster I've ridden, I'm so looking forward to my Enthusiast trip in 2022 where I will be going to Dollywood, Busch Gardens Tampa, and Islands of Adventure! This video really let me see how forceful these launches are, and now I'm looking forward to riding them even more! Great video.
Oh yeah ur going to have a great time all 10/10 parks
Shocked that this comment is the first to bring up Thunderbird... I’ve ridden a few of the rides mentioned in the video, and Thunderbird shocked me with the launch. Maybe it’s because it’s a wing coaster, but it felt like I had been shot out of a slingshot
@@tomasparsons3386 Very true, it only reaches around 60 mph but feels much more powerful!
As someone who has ridden maxx force, it’s hard to describe. I like dragsters more because once you can comprehend MF’s launch, it’s over
Wickeds launch is honestly very slow, but the spectacle of being launched 90 degrees upwards makes it one of the most insane launches of any coaster I’ve ridden. It really is a strange feeling being launched 90 degrees upward and the airtime over the top hat because of the launch makes it a seriously underrated element.
Rockin roller coaster has an awesome launch, especially with Steven Tyler counting down from 5 with the bands music!
My favorite launch is easily Formula Rossa's. It does the same thing as Kingda Ka where the launch is in stages, and that second kick all the way up to its top speed took my breath away. After our first ride in the front seat, we had no interest in riding it in any other row.
Watching this after just riding Storm Runner! The acceleration is nuts and the presentation is simple but extremely effective!
NOW GET READY HERE WE GO!!!
Storm Runner’s my fav. Short but worth it
Most powerful launch I’ve done is Stealth (0-80 in 1.8s). The most theatrical one though is probably those at Disneyland Paris; either Rockin’ Roller Coaster or Space Mountain (From the Earth to the Moon).
I remember telling my pussy ass self I was gonna ride stealth (I only did The walking dead and the labrinth maze that day and the walking dead was MY FIRST EVER COSSTER)
And I was in the middle of the queue and i was just watching that thing blast off every time, the queue alone gave me a adrenaline rush XD
And I chickened out :p
PLUS that day the countdown was off (it would go 321 GO and then u wait like 2 years before blasting off) HELL NAW thats just cruel knowing your gonna go any second just waiting (the anticipation is prob scarier than the launch)
After being on both Maxx Force and Ka, I think I prefer Maxx Force just a bit. While Ka’s lasts forever, the absolutely bonkers acceleration of Maxx Force was crazy, instantly pinning my head and shoulders to the seat.
As someone whose been on wicked, it is so intense, and it looks slow over the top, but when I rode it rocketed over the top. Seriously feels like blast off
People mock copperhead strikes launch, but its not meant to powerful, its meant to be enough to give you insane hang time on that first loop which I personally love. There is a stronger launch later in the ride but everyone just talks about that first one.
I haven’t been to another theme park minus my home park, Kings Dominion. But honestly, the thrill of Flight of Fear and Backlot Stunt Coaster shooting you off make me happy. These aren’t exactly the type coasters talked about in the video but they still hold a place in my heart.
"No, they don't put launches at the end."
Clearly he forgot about Thi13teen's launch at Alton Towers. It just launches you straight into the station. LOL
Jokers Jinx is insane that launch is the real deal
honestly, red force at ferrari land's launch is really underrated, it's a rolling launch, it has that anticipation with lights before you start rolling so you feel that "oh shit here we go", and you start feeling like you're out of control halfway down the track
As someone that has ridden Wicked 20 times in a row without getting off, that launch is gnarly! You're pressed into your seat on the way up, then the lap restraint on the way down just makes you forget you're safe. Plus, the forces as you crest the hill are crazy! Going straight up to straight down that fast is so fun!
Stealth at Thorpe Park has a crazy launch, 0-80 in 1.9 seconds. It is the most intense element I've ever ridden and I dont think anything will beat that any time soon.
Launches are my favorite element and not because of the forces but because of the sense of speed it just gives me more adrenaline than anything else
I love a good buildup to a launch, but I also really like how on Maxx Force, there's nothing happening, so you have no idea when you're going to launch. That feeling of silently waiting for the most powerful launch in the western hemisphere is surreal
If you want on-ride build up, nothing tops Storm Runner for me. "Now get ready, here we go!" Is burned into my mind.
I've been on it easily over a dozen times and I still get butterflies in my stomach right before the launch. The set up is so good!
My favorite launch is the hydraulic launch prototype, Xcelerator at Knott's. It's absolutely nuts.
Velocicoasters first launch has the best build up. From the roll back to the loud clicks as it counts down. I can’t get enough of that launch tbh
The launch seems to last forever
@@Daredevillevel the second one for sure but the first one is short and punchy
@@toxicghoul238 my memory may not be serving me correctly I last rode it in 2021 lol
@@Daredevillevel understandable lol. I’ve had over 20 rides the last of which being 2023
The best launch I’ve been on is probably stealth at Thorpe park or Rita at Alton towers
One launch that is very underrated is Maxx Force’s at Six Flags Great America. It’s very sudden and it’s actually very forceful, I grey out on it every ride.
The reason multi launch coasters have a stronger launch for the 2nd one is that it takes more energy for LSMs to launch from a standstill. The point of having 2 launches is that it requires less peak electrical load, so your first weaker launch can start the ride and then you spend the same amount of juice accelerating to full speed.
You’re raving about hulks launch and calling maverick’s forceless 💀. Been on both, walking feels more forcefull then hulk’s launch and Maverick’s launch is insanely forcefull and intense af.
Despite being a launch with average launch in terms of power I think cosmic rewind at Epcot has a world class launch because of the themed buildup and also being launched backwards for the immersion and intensity
I remember when I was little and riding hulk for the first time I was not expecting that launch and hulk roaring scarred the shit out of me
I'm a total ride weenie, but my friends made me get on the Maverick and I loved it. Making me reevaluate my fears and look at more rides now...
Crazy fact. I've never ridden Xcelerator but I've ridden Hagrids & Velocicoaster each 3x , Tron in Shanghaiand Cheetah Hunt. Oh, I live 20 minutes away from Knott's Berry Farm lol
Intamins least Reliable I Think Is Hagrids Their Most Reliable Coaster is VelociCoaster Expecially if there was a rollback after 2 minutes of being stopped on the middle track the ride will launch you backwards then Forwards over the top hat to finish the ride.
the space mountain in florida is alright but the one in paris with the launch is insane. i loved the ride and was continuously my number one go get to
talking about astronauts, but even on earth:
you know what's also a good launch, a winch launching a gliderplane 0-60 in about 2 seconds and you also gotta pilot the plane.
But because you're under a cannopy and instantly in the air it feels slower.
sitting on the front row makes the launch also more intense because wind and a frame of reference
My favorite launch that I have experienced was the first launch on Velocicoaster, the buildup is awesome and you hear the raptors as you whip out of the station. Although I'm sure if I were able to ride dragster it would probably top it,
Intamin launches: 🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎
Mack rides management: WHAT YOU EXPECTED OUR LAUNCHES TO BE FASTER THAN MILLENNIUM FORCES LIFT HILL.
such an underrated channel
the fact that i’m a (new) enthusiast and have ridden tons of rides, I HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A LAUNCHED COASTER!!!
expect for hulk
ive had a horrible day thanks coastoons youve fixed it
If you like TMNT shellraisers launch, may I raise you Flucht von Novgorod you just get yeeted through darkness, these gertslauer launches are insane, there’s a video of it taken by an engineer watch it and you’ll see what I mean
I have marked the flag where coastoons has 700 LIKES AND 1 DISLIKE. CAN WE GET THIS MAN TO 30K PLEASE HE NEEDS IT.
My favourite launch is definitely tarons second or velocicoasters second one.
3:58 What about the Fastest Rollercoaster in the World Formula Rossa Also fun fact this ride was also made by Intamin
Taron is my #1 coaster just because of the 2nd launch!!
I highly recommend you to go to Portaventura/Ferrari Land in Salou, Spain. It has shambala, hurakan condor, dragon khan and red force. No telling. No spoiling. Your choice.
Taron and stealth's launches take it for me. The raw strength of stealth's and the power and sound of taron's make it a no brainer for me
I love ronin rollercoaster it is amazing
the only launch coaster ive ridden is stealth, i cant even describe it because i was focusing on staying alive, it literally took my breath away so i couldnt scream.
taron's second launch is cheetah hunts second on STEROIDS (and better theming because phantasialand) also, the launch on FLY while forceless has amazing buildup and feel.
Taron’s second launch actually doesn’t wow me. It’s loud and fast but not that intense
These coasters still can’t launch faster than my little brother after I drop kick him.
Icons launch is underrated it has some deceptive force I got pinned to my seat quite suddenly and stealth is just a punch in the face
10:15 ever heard of this little coaster called… FORMULA ROSSA?!
6:27 th13teen at Alton Towers is crying. good.
What about volcano the blast coaster
Coastoons : They dont put launches at the end
Th13teen : hold my tires
plopsaland de panne's anubis also has a good launch imo
So far I've only been on 3 launch coasters, all of them being at six flags magic mountain, but out of all of those launches, the second launch on west coast racers on the white side is my most favorite, you really feel it kick in and even though you already have a good speed going into the launch it gets even better and then you fly into that corkscrew which for the speed you gain you get a good amount of hangtime, but at night it's even crazier, 2 of my 5 rides I've gotten on west coast racers have been at night and i enjoy it way more than in day
You need to go to Cali for sfmm and knotts. Xcelerator has a crazy launch
sad u didnt do space mountain cuz space mountain launch is rlly awesome
They do put launches at the end of a ride, Th13teen at Alton towers.
launches always shock me
best AND scariest part
The most underrated launch in the world is the first launch of ride to happiness because it’s pretty forceful and you spin while you launch
Very cool
Ok, hear me out, if this already exists please tell me, but what about a launch that goes DOWN an incline. An augmented fall into something like an inclined helix or a drawn out loop sounds nuts.
very good idea, but the g's at the bottom must be insane
Storm Runner Is the BEST! Lovin the thumbnail!
6:25 *cough cough* time traveler *cough wheeze* full throttle *cough*
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is definitely the most intense for me, I loved it!
My favorite ride ever!
Oh yeah, between going on hulk and this, rock n’ rollercoaster is the superior one.
6:29 The ride next to Rita actually has a launch at the end.
Stealths launch made me go 😷 because I was wearing a mask
RIP Do-Dodonpa
Another and cool launch coaster is at Kings Island flight of fear and the new orion
Thanks for perfect timing I've just started eating lunch 😎
I'm too starting eating dinner here
I went to Walibi Holland two months ago, and I was super shocked about the strength of Xpress 13‘s launch. It’s a Vekoma Custom LSM Coaster and you don’t feel the LSM… I SWEAR THIS COULD BE A HYDRAULIC LAUNCH WITH VEKOMA LYING TO US! The thing is that it’s REALLY INTENSE and ALSO goes Backwards a few inches like on Hydraulic Launch coasters. The launch blasted of my face and I had a grey out. Even tho it only launches you to 90 km/h it has the hydraulic launch strength, and it also has that build up in the tunnel with the lights, which makes your heart beat like crazy. The theme even makes it better.
I mean, he sort of mentioned it in the video since it's the same track layout and launch as Rock'n Rollercoaster, but I fully agree.
Especially for what was originally a Disney rollercoaster this launch really packs a punch. Much more than the stats (0-92km/h in like 2.8 sec or so) would suggest. It really gives you that initial "kick" in the back when it takes off.
Just crazy if you think about the fact that this launch is from the late 90s, when there weren't really any intense launches and also that it debuted in a Disney ride.
It sort of behaves like a hydraulic launch coaster, because similar to a hydraulic launch it uses a catch car that pulls the train along the launch track, but unlike a hydraulic launch it uses LSMs instead of hydraulic fluids to propell the catch car. Most LSM launches utilize magnets mounted underneath the train itself, so there's no catch car required.
So the whole "rolling back" a few inches before launching happens for the same reason it does on a hydraulic launcher.
This however doesn't explain why it feels so savage for what it is.
It's a long heavy train and it uses LSM tech from the 90s. I mean the acceleration does weaken quite a bit as it picks up speed, hence the 2.8 sec figure. But still, this sort of intensity just simply shouldn't be possible using LSMs during that time imo xD
Idk why but your vids have a thrillseeker vibe(they're a vr channel)
Rock n roller is amazing
only coaster enthusiast that like the same music as me. . . .
Best incline launch is the Paris space mountain.
the Lrod chain conversion forshadowing
No mention of Xcelerator at KBF??? Still loved the vid though!
how the heck are you putting all the weak lsm over the hydraulic? tmnt shellraiser? what about xelerator? maxx force? like you forgot so much
Verbolten at BGW’s second launch is really powerful if you ride the back row. You go through a dip right before the launch, which the front hits before the back can even finish the dip, and it YANKS you.
My favourite launch coaster would probably be hyper space mountain at Disneyland Paris it's easily one Disneys most intense rides. The way it launches up the tunnel on the roof which looks like a cannon then just drops into darkness is amazing. It took me by surprise my first time because I found all the other roller coasters a bit tame
One thing that makes coastoons videos a banger is the music.. it’s so overlooked but it’s what gives a video that classic coastoon feel.. and the animations.
tbh he doesnt even put that many animations anymore
@@waveiscursed fr
You sould review Silver dollar city
U should do a Canada's wonderland reveiw
One launch to talk about is that of formula rossa, it doesn’t start with anything crazy but the longer the launch goes on the faster it accelerates, and the launch feels like it goes on forever, which makes sense as it’s the fastest coaster in the world, definitely top tier
b&m have 3 launches on coasters hulk, decepticoaster and thunder bird
Doesn't cheetah hunt's 3rd launch kinda count as a ending launch? I mean there's 2 beginnings and then like a half middle half end.
If you like Launch Coasters you neeeeed to ride Hyperspace Mountain in Disneyland Paris, is so good 😍
The old launch on Hulk was so much better at building the anticipation. I know a lot of people may disagree with me but I hate the new harsh LED screens in the tunnel and think they're an eye-sore. Also the fact that there's no dialogue anymore is also just lame, it feels hollow. The physical launch itself is still great, but it used to be so much more.
Mummy's launch is better though, that ejector air is killer. And Flight of Fear has a much better launch to me than Rock'n'Roller Coaster, the LIM has such an iconic sound and listening to it launch down the track while you're there in the station really builds the anticipation knowing you're next!
2 years later, and lightning loses its launch 😢
Kingda Ka actually has three stages of it's launch each one slightly more powerful than the last. Intamin did this to help with reliability
launches are actually goated
