In the USA I believe that would generally be charged as conversion. Basically you have permission to have or use something, but you do things with it you aren't authorized.
Ciro is the genuine good person car guy. I meet him when I was starting in automotive photography. He was so nice with me and my girlfriend, we went to Santa pod for some photos. Mind you, we come from Portugal almost specifically to be with him. Many years later, fortunately I got much better and Ciro still the greatest person around. Hope to see you soon mate!
Thanks Ciro for recounting the theft and recovery of Alistairs Lamborghini in a condensed format. The good news is that the car was found and is in the process of being rebuilt. The bad news was the lack of effort from the Police and the horrible realization of the ease in getting car keys made without proof of ownership. I'm glad to see you guys back in the Big Chair!
Had a brief moment before he said "happy to see it on the UK roads again" where I thought CURATED in Miami was the proud owner. Great story, well done with all the effort. Glad it has a happy end.
I traveled between yovil and Brentwood at this time, and was aware of this car but never saw and i even parked in the public car park just next to the disused catle market.
This is a prime example of why you should never trust anyone with your things. If he hadn't stored his car with someone, it wouldn't have been stolen by that guy. It wouldn't have even mattered if his insurance paid him fully or if he got it back in perfect condition the day after reporting it. The fact that it was stolen is the biggest issue. I do not trust anyone with anything of mine I am not fine with immediately throwing away. That is how you protect yourself and the things you value.
Yeah, you can live your life that afraid of everything. Or, and hear me out. You could learn to trust some people. When you trust absolutely no one, that makes you untrustworthy. But go ahead and be that loner with no friends
Ciro is a great guy and very passionate about what he does. I've spoken to him several times at some of the shows that he has organised, he's such a down to earth guy and his own murci is 👌. This story should be turned into a Guy Ritchie movie 100%. Ciro, I'll see you in August at the soapbox race 👍
Hello @VINwiki - im Michael from Germany. I've been searching a BMW 3 series in Europe. I got the VIN but except of a few clues i got no lead to follow. Is there any chance to get in touch with you?
Great story! I loved following the series and it made me go to Petrolheadonism underground just to see it. Very interesting to find out all this other stuff like the kidnapping, definitely worth a movie . . .
Will not series came out on RUclips from petroleum I couldn't wait for the next video to come out that whole series was intense but I felt a sign of relief when they did find the car and they got all the parts back I was very happy for that
Probably to some degree but they are smart enough to use a burner phone linked to a vpn, etc. End of the day, do you want the parts back that are an exact color match and vin match or would you rather piece the car together. Sucks it happened but 40k vs 120k is an easy call. The hardest part is ensuring the deal is done are stated and you aren't robbed.
@@awsomo53yeah unfortunately it was honestly the easiest option.. I’ve heard people do the same with car keys when a purse is stolen because paying the thief to return them is cheaper than paying to have new ones made.
If the authorities *really* want to, they can do all sorts of clever stuff. For example, the scratches on the lens are unique to the phone and can be used for identification with the right software. Also, there are hidden borders on the photos that can sometimes be used to identify and geo-locate. The problem is all this takes specialists which costs money. Most forces can't afford to use them on 'just' a stolen car. 😢
All this over a Diablo lambo VT. I say this as remember being in college in the 90s in a college town And seeing a red Diablo VT go down the street in front of me and some fancy dressed folks getting out of it. I still remember the sound of it going by. Way more memorable than most of the Ferraris going by in town for sure.
The big lesson here is when you’ve got a three car garage with the mercy, Lago or Lamborghini something else and one of those hot shot cars store that somewhere else and keep your Lamborghini where you can see it…. And when this whole thing is finished, I hope they explain how and why and what happened with the guy storing the car giving it away to someone else is payment for a debt that something that wasn’t his
Whole story I’m thinking about the excessive engine wear from the thieves definitely cold starting and beating on it to move around. Along with not servicing it for ages, I just feel bad for it.
Douchebags tend to be attracted to status symbols rather than simply the performance of the car. Lamborghini is a status symbol in those groups, similar to hellcats, and nikes. Each class has its own douchebags.
If it makes everyone feel better, Rutter and his wife have both been made bankrupt and are being evicted from their home where the Lambo was stored. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 😃😃😃😃😃

im guessing we get this video because ppl have been arrested. otherwise they wouldnt say this much now and they are awaiting trial of some sort. and he would be saying more about who did get arrested and who all is exactly guilty
As far as I'm concerned, anybody named Alistair is tall and lanky, always carrying books, works in finance, and drives a Volvo station wagon for its safety features. 'Murica!! Lol
I had a US spec 2013 WRX in plasma blue stolen while I was stationed over there in Huntingdon. The police are less than fucking useless. Never heard anything from them. They don't care. Never had a problem with my Mustang and it managed to make it to Petrolheadonism Knebworth house in 2022 I believe when Rabbit and Tavarish were there before I moved back to the US. That and Supercarfest the Runway are two of the best car shows I've been to. Need to get with Tavarish and Rabbit and get something like that going in the US lol
I heard about people from my home town that used to steal lambos and strip them, then add night vision visors so they can use them for drug transports. The point was to get rid of the lights and extra weight so they were able to run across the USA within 6-8 hours while filled every square inch with bags. Also made running from the cops easy within a night.
The lesson here is that the police can and will always make things more difficult. Tracker tags and great friends will get the job done faster than any useless Badged criminal.

Kind of hard to follow but if I heard correctly, the owner tosses the keys to a friend who's been swindled by a scam and says to friend this should make you whole. Then gets upset when the car mysteriously disappears? Kinda stupid if you ask me.
So did anyone get arrested? From what I gathered, it sounds like Paul paid a debt with car that wasn't his. Why wouldn't he be arrested?
Either no hard evidence just word of mouth, or currently in being fought in court but best to leave that out
@@zipa1908i don’t even know what you’d charge him with because he didn’t steal it he basically gave it away… probably right it’s in civil court or something

Why didn't the guy who stored it get in trouble? He was the idiot who started it all
uk justice system is a joke thats why and with out concrete proof our police wont do anything as when it goes to court they will throw it out.
That police for you not going after the lead but after the information
Not allowed to investigate migrants only citizens
so the original guy who stored the car is the real criminal to prosecute

change the thing from a diablo to the cobra replica at the end of the first movie and it would fit right in lol

Best video yet awesome job vinwiki.
Why is it that nearly every story in which shady douchebags and cars are involved, the car is a Lamborghini?
It is where the money comes from, large amounts of cash. Audi R8s are just as bad
