@MrPleasant: This isn't a song about about the depths of depression. The person in this song is not depressed, they are crushed by life. They aren't looking for an escape or improvement. They are done, used up. Its over, there is no way back for them and they are no longer interested in trying to find a way back. They just pray for the end and embrace it. I suffer from clinical depression and this is worse than any depression. Depression is a feeling, it implies emotion. This person in the song is empty, they feel nothing. This is the song of someone who is already dead, but their body has not realized it yet. Depression for this person would be an improvement. Its not meant to help the depressed. Its meant to show what it is like when you have been lost so far in darkness you can't even feel it anymore. To compare it to depression minimizes the enormity of what this person is experiencing.
