    Used your vids to help me learn how to run 5/32 overhead last weekend for a job where I had never used it before. Got the full time job offer with them yesterday. Thanks a ton

    Awesome video. I've been in the welding industry for 16 years now and recently started a mobile welding business, I always like your videos I like to watch other welders and their techniques. Always got to have a bag of tricks for different circumstances.

    Your 7018 videos got me through my d1.5 3g,4g test and now have successfully completed smaw, after repeating the 7018 videos hundreds of times I’m now onto .072 wire d1.1 3g, 4g & d1.8

    Thank you Jody for another very educational stick welding video! I really appreciate the shots showing a tight arc - the more of these the better. I’d watch a whole video of nothing else because this helps me know what to look for. I’ll watch this video many times over.

    Great to see another video Jody. I see you are still exercising that 210 MP. Those things have sure gone up in price as people realized how good they are. Watching you demonstrate how not to weld overhead sure takes me back to my learning days. I vividly remember laying under our bailer welding something up, slag dripping on me, molten metal doing the same. Luckily, if you can call it that, we had an asbestos blanket that we would put over us when we had to lay under something. But as we know, asbestos isn't a good thing. I can still remember taking the blanket off and seeing all the fibers float off in the air. I cringe thinking about it now days.

Just did a large welding job allot over head realy wish I had watched this video before hand my feet would have appreciated it lol. Interesting that the metal cohesion is strong enough to prevent the low-density slag from wetting the steel and floating into the overhead joint as a slag inclusion. Is this ever a problem?

    I have to admit, I have just got my first modern welder with arc force on it, and it is stuffing me up. The welder is certainly chalk and cheese compared to the old unit, but I am finding setting the arc force is a puzzle.

    • @stevesmith2171
      @stevesmith2171 2 года назад +1

      Set it in the middle and get used to it welding in all the positions you can with as many different types and sizes of rods as you can then start tweaking it.

  • @jamesretired5979
    @jamesretired5979 2 года назад

    The only thing I do different is to move at a speed that the puddle flows just to the light line of the last bead. ( The point where the arc light reflects off the highest point of the bead your tying in to) This makes a very flat weld, not rope like.

    Great job. Serious question about stick welding. I have stick welder with Tig lift setting. Other day i accidentally stick welded with machine on Tig lift setting. I did notice way different sound and smoother arc,not as violent as when using arc setting. Will this hurt my machine,any pros or cons to doing stick welding while using Tig lift setting.
