    I’ve been making tool kits for my teenage kids to keep in their cars. Will be adding the Makita socket sets to their kits. I’m using the Maxpedition Beefy organizers so I can fit 7-inch tools. Works great and I’ve managed around the horizontal organization on the right side.

Maxpedition does make an 8" bag is called the "Skinny", but the right hand side bungies are orientated sideways. And there is no top load pouch on the left. I use a Maxpedition Skinny for a similar pouch. I just don't use the straps going the other way. The deeper sides of the Skinny, Beefy, and Fatty holds things together well enough - unless you're constantly moving the pouch around while it's open.

    • @nicholasheaps8297
      @nicholasheaps8297 Год назад +1

      The skinny is the way to go. I keep the knipex 180 pliers wrench and cobras in the straps on the left. Behind that is room for the knipex 145 combo pliers, klein precision screwdriver, a 200 mm cats paw and probably something else. On the right I use the straps to hold a fastback, streamlight mictostream, 9ft dewalt tape measure, and railer double row ball end hex set. The pocket behind that holds my makita 1/4 in sockets, icon low profile 1/4 in ratchet, extensions, universal adapter, pen, and bit extender. Zip ties in a heat shrink tube and a pb Swiss insider sit against the inside seam. Rather packed out the way it is but no issues with things rattling or shifting around.

    If I could find something like that that attached to my belt, I'd buy it in a second without hesitation. I carry a pocket screwdriver, pen, Milwaukee Sharpie, Milwaukee multitool(the utility knife with the screwdriver), a Klein non voltage tester, pencil, pump pliers, multitool, 30 ft tape, and earbuds all with me daily. Plus my wallet, keys, and a flashlight. I wanna add a pair of strippers, but Im running out of room. Currently in my pockets are my wallet, notebook, pen, pencil, light, sharpie, hankie, pliers, and knife. On my belt is my keys, multitool,pistol, tape, and ear pods

      Yes I have. I’ve grabbed it when riding with someone else and ended up replacing a dead car battery and putting furniture together. Just like you I thought would I use it? Well I’ve made sure it works for specific jobs. Replacing a faucet, changing a car battery, replacing a switch or receptacle, fixing a gate latch. I’ve grabbed it instead of grabbing the big bag as well. Thanks for watching!

    This is edc? You really need an electronic voltage tester on you everyday? Also, the giant 4 way screwdriver and precision screwdriver would have been better replaced by 1” bits used in the icon ratchet.

    While I know they've become popular, I personally don't get the point of one of these tool pouches. What's the use case for it? In the house surely you'd grab your tool box. In the car space isn't constrained so again, tool box. On a motorbike this isn't really the right setup and it's a tad bulky. Backpacking there'd be no need for half of this, way to much weight. I just don't get when it's for!

    • @projectpinehills
      @projectpinehills  8 месяцев назад

      That's understandable. I have ensured that it can accomplish specific jobs like replacing a car battery, replacing a light fixture or a kitchen faucet. Thanks for watching!

      @@projectpinehills If we are going that far might as well throw in a couple of those little solder wire connectors that you can heat with a lighter if you need to. I would also ditch the voltage tester and swap it for a pen multimeter, you can get very small pen mulitmeters not much larger than that and far more useful (though you would need to add the cable though...). I was also ditch the wire strippers for a nice sharp pair of side cutters, then you can still strip wire but you can also do other tasks.

      @@projectpinehills AHHA! UNI-T UT118B Looks exactly like the one I used to have except it's not green mine was probably rebranded from that or a cheap knockoff. I think Uni-T is a decent brand, it does take a CR2032 battery though.
      *edit* thats weird, my last reply to you vanished, what I had said was that I couldnt send you a link because I couldn't find my old one but that the Aneng A3008 looked about the right size and it used a AAA battery instead of the cursed button cell battery mine had used hence the reason I probably lost it, and hence the "AHHA" at the start of this comment because I had been searching for the one that I had had.

      I have observed the same.. I think this represents a thought exercise more than a real edc. I have struggled to figure out a combination that allows me to do the most with the least amount of tools. In reality I carry tool box with my tools.
