I’m going to build this but I would also add a telescoping magnet my dad’s a mechanic and those things are so handy for getting dropped bolts and screws , cheers
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this video because I've been looking at building my own EDC tool /survival kit to have in my vehicle and this just gives me more ideas. Thank you! Keep it up
Great update to your original pouch. I have a micro version that I use for business travel. I purchased this pouch to give me more room as well. I add duct tape or gorilla tape to each of my pouches. Ever since I was in Brazil and my friends suitcase was damaged, I don’t leave home without some duct tape.
@@projectpinehillsThanks for the prompt reply. FYI your affiliate link for the bag doesn't seem to work. It links to a product that's no longer in stock. ALSO the pictures no the model you bought, don't look like the one in the vid. Not sure why but thought you might want to know. Cheers
@@jontnoneya3404 Thanks for letting me know. The link works when I try it, but you have to click "see all buying Options" after getting to the page. I don't like when you see that on Amazon. I don't see it anywhere else on Amazon but it is still available from Vanquest. This is the exact pouch I bought: EDCM-Slim 2.0 Maximizer (Every-Day-Carry-Maximizer) Thanks for Watching!
I reached out to Vanquest, they will be restocking on Amazon shortly. In the meantime, you can order it here: www.vanquest.com/products/edcm-slim-2-0-edc-maximizer-organizer/
To allow the cobra to fit in better, take it one notch 'wider' , yeas wider! in the jaw opening setting. The result is the handles are now closer together in the closed position. I have a similar pouch based kit on the Maxpedition pouch, and In my wifes vehicle have one on this pouch. Great video! thanks. I'm going to check out that meter too!
A little something to add to your arsenal: I've just discovered that Velcro sells rolls of double-sided velcro strips. Get rid of those wires for good. Stuff comes in handy for a thousand-and-one weird little uses from tying up tools tightly, to jobs like your multi meter wire, to fastening things, to temporarily binding materials, to making fasteners. You can sow it on your pouches and attach things on the exterior, or hot-glue, or No More Nails it. It's great to be able to just rip an attachment apart, or a tool off, and then just slap it back on. The nice bit of buying rolls is that you can cut exactly the length that you want for a very specific job.
Great layout here. Using the keepers to hold the tape is really clever and I imagine quite convenient. That t-handle/ratchet combo tool seems really useful. Wish I had easy access to them or a similar product here in sweden but I can't seem to find something that does everything the icon does. That might just be on the account of my terrible googling skills though. For my own toolkit I also include a small jewlers hammer that I cut down to size. It doesn't do everything you need a hammer to do on account of its small size but a hammer is very useful to have in my experience, even a small one.
Suggestion. one of my go to items that makes its way into every tool bag load out I've ever made is the wiha xlselector great selection of bits with no duplicates excellent organization and super tough case I have two and have been using one I've them for over ten years.
I started doing something similar to this recently for a small grab bag while at work to handle basic jobs without a trip to the work bench. I ordered a Vanquest 9x7 and am waiting to try it out. I couldn't go with the Max one because I use a 8in crescent almost daily. I also keep a ratchet screw driver along with the Icon. Icon is nice and needed but isn't as comfy as a full driver. We have a lot of similar but different tools. Like I have a klein fluke that also does temperature readings because I need temperatures or the laser to point at electrical components inside a start/stop box.
Good deal. I have updated the pen to include a green laser pointer and I added a 6” 1/4” hex adapter to extend the ratchet. Things I’ve discovered as I use the smaller tool kit. The A3009 multimeter has been solid so far too. I’d like to know how the 9x7 works out for you! 👍
Well done sir! My journey to a kit is similar to yours. As with all kits, mine follows my interests. I ended up with a bit larger kit and include the Wera Tool Check Plus Metric. I added the Klein Flip Socket set to get the SAE sockets. That Icon T-Handle ratchet driver is brilliant, isn't it? I like the idea of the full size screwdriver but opted to leave it out and use the Icon T-Handle and driver bits in it's place. To fit it all in I ended up with the Maxpedition Fatty. Thanks for your recommendation on the voltage tester, it came in useful within days of including it! I wanted to use a top load style pouch but couldn't make it work; maybe in a different kit!
I’ve made some updates to this load out. I use a Klein 14-in-1 with the Klein flip bit on it now instead of the 6-in-1. I have about 3 common home maintenance jobs that I want it to be able to do. 👍 Thanks for sharing! Always room for improvement, I’ll eventually post an update.
Nice bag. Are there larger versions of these tool pouches (say 30% larger in width and height)? Would make it more useful as tool storage around the house rather than having it be very lightweight for on the road.
I have a 3' tape in there but I agree on the ruler. I have a clear one that I will add. Gives you a small straight edge as well. Thanks for commenting and watching!
@@projectpinehills As a retired master electrician I would never trust that multimeter in a live panel. For light work such as testing for live receptacles, continuity, etc it should be fine. I messed with the OC140 and found it didn't offer the abilities to hold the tools in the way that the Maxpedition and similar organizers do. I used my OC140 as a small electrical set with a butane soldering iron, assortment of crimp connectors and a pair of wire strippers.
