Ok. I have a question. You are using and external camera to record yourselve? I am trying to implement this one but with my integrated camera pc and can not connect to skype even doing your complete tutorial.
It would be great if you can do a tutorial on using a second PC running Skype and how to get video/audio between the 2 systems. It's nice you are showing us how to use virtual camera, running Skype on the same computer, but it does not work in windows.... win 7 or win 10(running it in wirecast gear 210). It's frustrating when you see a tutorial like this but can't actually do the steps because it doesn't work. I know it's a Skype issue, but any help on showing how to do this using 2 systems would be appreciated.
Wirecast yes, I did some testing and the video now shows on the callers system. Still need to make a "real" call and not just to the computer on the other desk in my office. But, it would still be great and VERY helpful to do a tutorial on using 2 windows systems to bring skype into wirecast. If you do find a tutorial out there it's a very old version of wirecast and/or skype. Thanks for all the tutorials that you do. It really helps.
Now that Wirecast has NDI as in input, if you have a second PC using Skype/Zoom using NDI Monitor you can bring in the video easier. However what is the best solution to 'return' the program out to the guest machine?
That is trickier. Skype and Zoom don't use NDI at this point, so it's hard to go the other direction without using a capture card push out, or using Wirecast to grab an NDI signal on the Skype machine and passing it via Virtual Camera the other direction.
Wirecast It seems odd that you don't have an alternative solution. On the one hand you need a high specified i7 machine to do it internally, on the other it seems very vague to not be able to create a solid reliable return. If Wirecast 'output NDI' then I'm sure it won't be long before someone created a 'virtual NDI camera' which would work with Zoom and Sykpe.
I've found the solution and unfortunately Wirecast has created a bigger problem by not offering NDI out. If you have a second machine (PC not Mac) running Skype, you can use NDI Monitor (Free on Newtek website) to bring the signal without delay into Wirecast. IF Wirecast did output NDI, then you could use NDI Transmit ($190 on Newtek website) to bring in the 'return' to Skype on the PC. So hopefully the next version of Wirecast will see you implementing this vital facility? Both NDI Monitor and NDI Transmit need to be installed on the Skype PC.
Can you use Google Hangouts instead of Skype? Also, will doing a Skype "Conference" call, where you are talking to more than one other person work with this? Also, can you chroma key yourself and the interviewee? Thanks Beforehand.
Q1: is it less taxing on your system to run skype or zoom from a separate computer, such as using desktop presenter? Q2: If you are using a capture card to bring skype or zoom into Wirecast, what steps do you recommend? Q3: Does the virtual camera work with the capture card, meaning, are my guest able to see their titles, lower thirds, etc...? Thank you.
Hi Curtis, great questions! A1: Yes, it is less taxing because you are offloading the decompression to another computer. All Skype/Zoom/online video is compressed and needs to be unpacked before it can be displayed. This uses some resources on your computer. A2: Honestly, at this point it is probably easier to use NDI and Wirecast 7.6+ over your network. Install NEwtek's free NDI Scan Converter tool. Then full screen your Skype or Zoom call on a 16:9 monitor. In Wirecast you should be able to just add the NDI signal directly in as long as both computers are on the same network (via ethernet recommended). A3: Virtual camera and capture cards don't really have anything to do with another. Typically a camera is plugged IN to a capture card, then in Wirecast the titles/graphics are added to the camera shot to create the "program mix/final composite" -- that final composite is then sent OUT via the Virtual Camera. Programs like Skype/Zoom, etc. will then grab that output if they are running on the same computer as Wirecast. So in that sense, they do see titles. Hope that helps!
You should NEVER use stretch to fit on video feeds of people. It distorts the input. You need to scale to fit then increase the scaling to cover the canvas. Also, there are settings in Skype to hide their logo. If you have the ability to run skype in a second display as full screen, you should also be doing that as it would remove the need to have any cropping what-so-ever (if you’re running the display at 16:9).
What version of skype i should use? Because i dont have the interface that you showing on the video. I want to do this but pc. I am using this version of Skype 12.13.257.0 I can not find the option of Video Wirecast. Can you help me?
Hi, I followed the tutorial. I use WC tor stream a live program from a WebTv. The point is that when I capture audio from the windows of skype, it capture the audio of the speaker in houes from skype twice, because it adds to the audio from microphone, and cause eco. If I don't capture audio, I loose the remote speaker.. How can I solve it?
The solution is to make sure you turn off the source you don't want to hear twice in the "Monitors" in Wirecast. Uncheck the "Monitor" box for any audio sources that you don't want to hear echoing or get captured on the microphone. And whenever possible, wear headphones! Great tutorial on audio/audio loops here: ruclips.net/video/R2JeNntjLfk/видео.html
Ok cool, now another tutorial is necessary for How to bring in live guest with FaceTime Video. I know I am gonna be ignored as usual about FaceTime Video.
Promise not to ignore you ;) We will look into this. In the meantime, a quick suggestion: setup FaceTime call on your phone and capture your iPhone directly into Wirecast (if you have a Mac) by plugging in your Lightning cable into the computer via USB. Barring that, you will probably need to use AirSquirrels app to mirror it to your Wirecas computer then screen capture it in from there just like a Skype Call. Hope that helps!
Cross posted this question to your Zoom video.
Is there any way to make Wirecast automatically switch scenes to the “active speaker” ?
You should do a video how to bring multiple people on Skype

You are the best My friend... I'm really grateful... Thanks a lot...
Currently running the latest SKYPE, WireCast and MAC OS and striking out every time! Any tips?

Skype updated something. This is now fixed in Wirecast 7.7, virtual camera should work great with Skype on all Windows OS' we support. :)

Thanks for watching! We will try to do a tutorial on a 2 computer system setup. This is a lot easier to do now with NDI.
Thanks!

Wirecast 7.7 now allows you to output NDI :) You will need Wirecast Pro.
This solution now exists. It's called "Newtek NDI Transmit" www.newtek.com/software/transmit/
CPU resources are over 80% . I am having the same issue. What are the computer parameters that Andrew is using?

I upgrade to wc 8 I hear I can just send a link to a friend to make everything faster

Great points, Matthew. Stretch to fit should be used with caution!
