Walking to school at age seven, I reflected on how contradictory the Bible is and how I needed to avoid men like this. It was reinforced at Bible camp when the leader made a bee line for me… I was 13 and “beautiful” as Trump says. Luckily my father did not take kindly to being told what to do by church leadership and we all left. I am very worried for parts of America 💙💙💙💙

When I was in school in the UK our headmaster gave an assembly before exam season to tell us the story of how to cook a frog in order to get us to take revision seriously. If you drop a frog into a boiling pan of water, it jump right out, you have to start with the water lukewarm let the frog get used to the pan and then turn the heat up gradually that way by the time the water is too hot the frog hasn't noticed and it gets boiled alive. The first or second commandment is 'thou shalt not have any other gods than me'. I'm not sure I would say we hate competition but we do acknowledge it. Everybody serves someone. Everyone is "religious" to something. We understand there is a "marketplace" of gods out there but we have been charged with sharing the good news of Jesus. I'm a veteran who makes a living as a pyschotherapist and I'm absolutely sickened by the direction and decline of our country. The level of manipulation and self deception that's neccessary to rationalize such clearly delusional thinking is well, perhaps a symptom of the sickness it is. Personality disorders are now on display, and it all support a version of governance that reduces freedom to an afterthought, and supplants democratic decison making with authoritarian- and worse-patriarchical control. What's at stake is perhaps the heart of our democracy. Righteous intolerance of difference is surging and threatens to turn the clock back on experiment to a time where differences simply just weren't tolerated. People need to open their eyes to the reality and severity of the threat that Christofacism presents. Sadly, I think what we're seeing now is simply the blow back from the progress of civil rights, it's just finally got the legs, support, and hate to assert power and control. As you might imagine, religion wasn’t a topic of conversation in our house, although if any of our three boys asked, we would tell them all aspects of world beliefs without bias. The boys went to the nearest school which was church funded and when we went to Will’s parent/teacher evening his RE teacher told us they had a discussion - Will, aged about nine if I remember correctly, announced that there was no such thing as god. She told us that she put her point of view, and he countered with his, he didn’t accept hers and they agreed to differ. Actually, what did impress me was that they accepted Will’s stand, with no further fuss. I don’t think that would have been the case in America , from what I understand.
I attended a Lutheran school in Monroe Michigan. We spent a lot time being brain washed, to make us good Lutherans. I remember one day a book mobile came to the school and we all got to pick out a book,i picked out one on dinosaurs the teacher said i couldn't have that, which i replied why not. When I was in school in the UK our headmaster gave an assembly before exam season to tell us the story of how to cook a frog in order to get us to take revision seriously.
If you drop a frog into a boiling pan of water, it jump right out, you have to start with the water lukewarm let the frog get used to the pan and then turn the heat up gradually that way by the time the water is too hot the frog hasn't noticed and it gets boiled alive.

I'm a veteran who makes a living as a pyschotherapist and I'm absolutely sickened by the direction and decline of our country. The level of manipulation and self deception that's neccessary to rationalize such clearly delusional thinking is well, perhaps a symptom of the sickness it is. Personality disorders are now on display, and it all support a version of governance that reduces freedom to an afterthought, and supplants democratic decison making with authoritarian- and worse-patriarchical control. What's at stake is perhaps the heart of our democracy. Righteous intolerance of difference is surging and threatens to turn the clock back on experiment to a time where differences simply just weren't tolerated. People need to open their eyes to the reality and severity of the threat that Christofacism presents. Sadly, I think what we're seeing now is simply the blow back from the progress of civil rights, it's just finally got the legs, support, and hate to assert power and control. Thank you for your courage in speaking openly and directly to these issues, as it's part of an education that's desperately needed right now!

As you might imagine, religion wasn’t a topic of conversation in our house, although if any of our three boys asked, we would tell them all aspects of world beliefs without bias. The boys went to the nearest school which was church funded and when we went to Will’s parent/teacher evening his RE teacher told us they had a discussion - Will, aged about nine if I remember correctly, announced that there was no such thing as god. She told us that she put her point of view, and he countered with his, he didn’t accept hers and they agreed to differ.
Actually, what did impress me was that they accepted Will’s stand, with no further fuss. I don’t think that would have been the case in America , from what I understand.
I attended a Lutheran school in Monroe Michigan. We spent a lot time being brain washed, to make us good Lutherans.
I remember one day a book mobile came to the school and we all got to pick out a book,i picked out one on dinosaurs the teacher said i couldn't have that, which i replied why not. Because it's biased on lies he replied.

You are correct, but it is not just Trump. It is 100s of right wing organizations. And they will make all these policies with another candidate when Trump is gone. These Christian Nationalists have created their own revisionist history of this country. We need to call this out loudly, clearly, and often!
Not to mention that they require the use of THEIR version of the Bible, which apparently doesn't even match the King James version, never mind the RSV version which has been corrected and updated against ancient sources to be more accurate to modern language.
Absolutely agree! Florida is moving the same way. More and more politicians are determining what is taught at our universities. It’s heartbreaking to know that another generation of women will face the same bias I have.
I wonder if the Bible will be discussed when teachers use it to talk about how it was used to justify slavery and genocide in the US?
