Take away tax exemptions from ALL religious groups!!
YESSSSSSSSSSS
Take away tax exemptions from the lgbtquia religion!
They also get to write off their housing!🤬

Taxes, the civil costs of being able to practice whatever religion you want.
You don’t pay taxes, you don’t have a say in governing a municipality, state or country
Can we call them “MAGAchurches” from now on?
Have you decided on a gender yet?
Magachurces is perfect.
@imperialmotering, it must be hell to have so much empty space between your ears. Can't answer a question so you do right wing nut job deflection.
Well said.
@@powelllane Well I do not want to take the Queen's crown off of you (or are you hitting on me)?
TAX the Churches NOW!
You don’t pay taxes, you don’t have a say in governing a municipality, state or country
Churches should finally pay taxes, just like all other branches of the entertainment industry.
Annual tax-free income of the US churches: between 70 - 80 billion per year.
Amen to that, please tax these churches 🙏🏾
oml 80 billion tax free income???? 😢
Yes. Some are just entertainment businesses
All lgbtquia organizations should have to pay tax, I agree!
@@imperialmotoring3789What on earth are you whining about? Your input is not interesting, not funny, and decidedly not welcome. If you consider yourself as representative of the Christian faith, you are doing an excellent job of putting people right off. Please stop.
@@angelamaryquitecontrary4609 Sorry I upset you. I guess no one ever told you the Truth. I guess it hurts at first...
Mega churches are businesses, period, and should be taxed as such.
You don’t pay taxes, you don’t have a say in governing a municipality, state or country
My minister didn't have his own a plane.
Tax the churches!
Tax lgbtquia activists!

@@rblxfan22 Who broke what law?
@@imperialmotoring3789
the law prohibits political campaign activity by charities and churches by definition a 501(c)(3) as one which does not participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements),
any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office.
it would seem most churches are breaking the law.
No pastor should live in a million dollar mansion using church donations
Exactly but most of them do or are aiming to do so.
💯 agree
I don't have a problem with a true Christian pastor living well. A nice but modest home and driving a nice car. But there is no justification WHATSOEVER for a televangelist hoarding and grifting his followers WITHOUT both paying their taxes and donating the bulk of those donations to charities, and back to the communities they represent. Any net worth of a televangelist into 8 or 9 figures is a blatant abomination of excess!
@@robertheintze9413 agreed, true Christian pastor deserve to live comfortably but not mega church excess.
@@nevbaker7642 I remember seeing a video of one pastor telling his church that God wanted him to have a private jet and that his congregation had to get it for him.
If they tax the churches, imagine how booming our economy would be!
We could absolutely take care of everyone; no more homelessness, no more hunger, everyone gets a job that helps our communities.
@@CKLee-rs4klsociety would finally benefit from religion 😂😂😂
Mega and church should never be in the same sentence
Churches purchase a lot of things so they can have services each week. If you tax them and just say they pay sales tax at 10% which is a thing in Memphis Tennessee. Churches will buy less if they pay sales taxes
I've said this before, I'll say it again: Forget the opioid crisis, addiction to religion is the greatest threat to America.
I wonder how many have suffered through the opioid crisis because of shame from these churches
Do you think religions prey on those with mental illness, or the mentally ill gravitate towards religion?
Religion is the greatest threat to the whole human race too. In my opinion. Mass delusion.
I've said this for years; "I would much rather deal with someone on drugs than a 'born again Christian'. At least the person on drugs has a reason their brain isn't right." I'm not real popular in religious circles. 🤔
Thanks for calling out the MAGAchurch grift.
Mega "church" = mega hate.
Just wear the pointy hood guys.
that's about all they lack but they probably keep those in the trunk to put on after sunset.
IMHO any church that prompts politics should immediately loss tax exempt status. They have no business there according to our Constitution. 💙 Vote straight 💙🔵💙🔵💙🔵
The Johnson Amendment technically allows it. It's just that nobody in the IRS or in a position of power has had the fortitude to try and enforce it (and with this current court, my guess is that they'd arrive at a convenient ruling striking it down). It's a bit like the superpac law, though: a lot of them get around it by distributing "voter guides" and showing which issues that candidates support/oppose - and guess what, all the issues on the card are cherry-picked for right-wing evangelicals. They get away with this a lot because the law basically just prohibits direct endorsement/opposition of specific political candidates. So they can legally say "candidate a supports this, candidate b opposes it", but if they say "vote for candidate a, do not vote for candidate b", then they can lose that tax-exempt status in a heartbeat (again, in theory).
@@MikelosM thank you. I did not know that. My Daddy always said you keep learning until you're dead. I sincerely hope the majority of Americans are sane and want Democracy. Vote BLUE 💙🔵
churches are 501(c)(3) organizations and according to the IRS, these organizations cannot campaign or be involved politically through their religion.
Tax evaders are not patriotic. National security and wellbeing should be a duty shared by all.
🙏🏾 Amen
I believe in freedom from religion.🦎
As an ex pastor and executive officer of the pentecostal denomination in Australia, I can confirm you are so correct on every aspect of your discussion... Sooo much bullshit and soo much grift im ashamed to say. I've since seen the light and became a lawyer defending children abused by these privileged perverts. Go hard girls. Love your work from Downunder 🎉
Thank you. I am Australian and some of the things I hear from local people involved in the local Pentecostal church makes me wonder " what Bible are these people reading?"
Notice that whenever there is a disaster and people are in desperate need of everything that these mega rich conmen are nowhere to be found?
Same with the right to lifers who don't care about the kids after they are born.
Yup, they never volunteer their churches or time and when asked, refuse outright. My church when I was growing up and was still religious had boxes for donations for the shelter next door at every service. Every service you could bring a little something to help.
The cognitive dissonance also allows parishioners to pat themselves on the back for being "pro-life" while voting against all social welfare programs, Medicaid/Medicare and helping immigrants fleeing extreme poverty and violence.
Amen!
yes, it's sick isn't it?
I used to sing in church choir and when I got older and realized that churches are just another cash grab business, that is when I stopped going regularly. So Very Sad. They say they are about community and belonging etc..etc......but if you are Not Giving 10% of your annual salary to the "church" - guess what, you are not really part of that community.
BLM and DEI are cash grabbers. So is the lgbtquia cult.
The primary reason for the mega churches is to make fortunes for the ‘pastors’.
As an atheist, I firmly believe that these mega churches should be fully taxed unless they prove their donation go to helping the poor and the community at large!
Not religious here. I believe spirituality is more important than christianity. I believe any church that is involved in interstate commerce should be taxed, heavily! In their world didn’t christ say shed all your wealth and follow me and, spread the word of the father? Just paraphrasing.
There's no reason they should be exempt.
He did, indeed. He expected the kingdom of god to come within the lifetime of his followers. Hence, leaving family, hating your parents, selling everything and give to the poor, etc., was going to be just for a little while, until the Messiah came. The kingdom of god was going to be on earth, not in heaven. When he didn’t come back, Paul had to switch the system to something he made up himself. Former Christian here. He also told his disciples to hit the road with what was on their backs and count on others to provide a big welcome (I.e., food and a place to stay and host gatherings). I guess the scamvangelists have decided to ignore that, along with virtually everything Jesus else taught in the bible.
Love your work Jen. Keep fighting the good fight and exposing these evil hypocritical deceivers. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you for including that interview of Copeland. He is obviously the demon in the story ~
Spot on . He's a scary looking mf.
Crazy demonic eyes
Copeland and Trump attract that part of society that wants to be led and have given up on the ability to question bullshit.
Spot on! My evangelical indoctrination began at age 17 with a deep desire to understand self and what unconditional love. After 20 years and years of domestic violence... I was not a devote person but a devote liar.
Twenty years later, I am more my authentic self...
BTW You forgot Franklin Graham
Visit this topic again any time. Love it
Mega churches should not be tax exempt...it is a sham
great topic, ladies. these megachurches are disgusting and an insult to authentic neighborhood churches that truly give back to their communities, often on a shoestring budget.
I don't attend church anymore, not for a very long time. But when I did, I always felt like my pastor at my neighborhood church knew me, acknowledged me and knew the other parishioners personally. That can't happen at a mega church!
What?!
We’re not even going to acknowledge that perfect clap?! 👏
Right!!! Totally spot on
Way to go Pumps! 🎉
Tax the goddamn church tax the god damn rich.
💯
I was involved with these people for quite a few years and made an exit. Your assessment is so good and true. Thanks for making me a laugh at what used to be in my life. Free at last.
The first Megachurch in our city was built in a former Home Depot building...It looks like a coffee shop in a Home Depot!
“I don’t have anything against Jesus. Jesus is one of my favourite fictional characters”, had me in stitches. Thank you!
It's exactly the way I feel too. Having been been brought up in a strict Catholic home, and later tried to fit in at a happy clappy Baptist church, I now regard organised religion with horror. I do, however, love many of the teachings of Jesus, and strive to follow them.
What I cannot abide, though, is Christians of any sort, including Jehovah's Witnesses and LDS, attempting to make me, and members of my family, part of their church.
Not trying to nitpick, but it’s worth pointing out that it is 100% a fact that Jesus was a real man. There is a lot of historical evidence all over the place to suggest that a man named Jesus was going around and teaching people about God. Even Jewish people recognized that Jesus existed, they just did not accept him as the Son of God. It’s fair to believe that he was just a man who liked God, but it’s just sort of silly to try to say he didn’t exist at all. Not sure where the confusion comes from, but a lot of these most important biblical figures did in fact exist in some capacity as people.
You won’t be in stitches when you stand before Him at the Great White Throne Judgement at the end of millennium. (Revelation 20-22).
@@jackieburelison5546 jack and jill went up the hill to fetch a pale of water ...
see, i can quote fairytales too.
Yes you can but the Bible says: Whoever believes and is baptized (by the Holy Spirit) will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned (Mark 16:16). If what you believe is true, you have nothing to worry about, but if what you believe is not true, "HELL" is waiting for you.
3..00 am in New Zealand and I’m enjoying watching you! Love your comments and agree. We have them here too. Well, a couple…
You have more in NZ than many realise.
Tax churches! Could instantly take care of deficit.
Churches have to start paying taxes since they’re all up in politics!!!! 🤬
OMG when Pumps starts giggling 🤭 I just lose my shit, you ladies are so funny because what you say is true. 😅
Spot on yet again ladies!
You have hit the political nail on the head with this one. The cognitive dissonance you discussed is what is driving political power, using these people as a cudgel and a wedge to assert authority and power over others and laying claim to some moral instrument which is nothing more than "because I said so..." When the authority and trust of a society has little to no basis in fact, a determinative analysis would suggest the society is doomed to fail. Doesn't matter what or how institutions are structured or organized, having authorities claim "to eat one's own feces and drink your own urine will cure what ails you..." clearly makes these authorities suspect, AT BEST.
Imagine our society helping everyone in this country if we collected tax money from all churches/religious based business/corporations. That's WWJD
There's a huge church in our area that advertises at the movie theater before the previews. They have concerts and an outdoor ice skating rink, rock climbing wall, snack bar and store, soccer fields and that's just what you can see driving by. Pretty sure that's not what Jesus had in mind. Maybe all that money could go to helping those in need. I wonder what the pastor is driving.
Love love love, you ladies are amazing and I watch and rewatch your videos every day. Hope you are well and I'm loving the news content!!!
The way parents let these insane grifters groom their children makes me sick to my stomach.
3:43 - that poor zebra!! 🦓 ❤ love you ladies, thank you for your podcast.
Hey ladies! Fantastic piece as always and really timely to remind folk of who holds the reins in Conservative politics.
Something that I haven't seen being discussed much is the changes in Russia where LGBTQ+ folk are now officially classed as (and added to the state list of) Terrorists.
Yet MAGOP are still trying to support Putin by proxy. We know that they're homophobic and would like to do the same. But they still try and pull the "love the sinner hate the sin" or "I don't care what "they" do in private" bull.
Maybe that's something you might be able to cover and raise awareness of? ❤️ Love to y'all! 😘
As a lesbian Episcopal priest, i agree with you about the megachurches. I love you ladies! I look forward to your episodes. Being from the south, it’s refreshing to hear supportive voices. Thank you!
i mean no disrespect, but how can you believe in something that condones your death for being who you are?
Not all Christians believe that and certainly not the Episcopal Church

I came out to my parents last year, and they were like we still love you etc. But I know they're going to vote all Republican in November 😐 it's the same feeling as the Republican Congressman who voted against the Respect for Marriage act and then went to his gay son's wedding 3 days later
One of my brothers is gay, the other goes to Hagee's church and supports Trump. Our family is very close, including my brothers. I don't know what cognitive dissonance you have to have to not realize what could happen to your brother if Trump is elected and lets these churches do whatever they want.
I think FFRF has a document that if filled out and sent to the IRS the religious organization will lose their tax exempt status of that church. FFRF had a program recently discussing this issue.

There is one person who would never attend a Mega Church.....Jesus.
One of the BEST exposes was John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight (?July 2017) episode on Televangelists.
The “$38 dollar ‘plant a seed’ to the setting up a religious non profit called, “Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption” was priceless

@JamesDio-yu5yd are you signaling to me with symbols? Isn't that really what religion is, just needy people signaling to one another?

Ladies, this is EXACTLY how I've always felt. I was raised Catholic (that's a whole other thing), but these megacurch evangelists make my skin crawl. So satisfying to hear you call out their bullshit! 😅
My dearest Jen, you described the mega church I was forced to attend throughout my childhood to a tee! We had fireworks INSIDE the church on the 4th of July as well as when Dan Quayle gave a speech during a Sunday service. The preacher is mega rich like you described. He goes by Dr. David Jeremiah. I questioned my own intelligence because so much of what he said made no sense. I was just an AP highschool student and he had a doctorate, so I trusted he knew what he was talking about. Imagine my surprise and disgust when I recently learned that he never earned a doctorate. He was given an honorary doctorate from a Christian college where his father was the President. You know who else has an honorary doctorate? Kermit the Frog! At least Kermit has the good sense and integrity to not refer to himself as Dr. Frog. I would love to hear your opinion on preachers using honorary doctorates to fool their flock! Love you ladies 💗
Truth spoken here. If churches taught Jesus’ simple, plain and true teachings of loving and serving one another, forgive all and don’t judge. Instead, they teach hate, bigotry, division, judging others and supremacy.
Why do they need a big mansion for a family of four?
Yes! So true.
I come from a family of very poor Lutheran ministers. They do pay the same self-employment tax rate. The obscene wealth of the mega-pastors is in part due to the salaries they receive and the deductions they take. The church buys and carries the mortgages and eventually owns the houses the pasters live in which are exempt from property tax. Churches and religious organizations are tax-exempt to maintain the separation of church and state. We don't want them to be able to say, "We pay our taxes, so we get a say in government." If churches were subject to taxation, then they could officially get involved with politics by raising money for candidates, influencing policy with paid lobbyists, etc. They do this anyway and get away with it because the tax laws are not enforced. To fix the problem, when a church starts getting political, it should have its tax-exempt status revoked. It's also sad to see these megachurches putting an end to small community churches, much the way Walmart wiped out so many small businesses. The small churches used to give back to the community. Honestly, I'll be happy when all churches go out of business. It's too easy for a "church" to be a front for abuse, unchecked power, and brainwashing. People can have their beliefs and gather to celebrate them without having these huge, corrupt organizations to answer to. IMHO.
I talked to Jesus two days ago and he said that he hates the whole Republican party. He said he calls them "Klangelicals," and "RepubliKlans!" I laughed so hard I peed myself. Oh yeah, He said you can use those for free, he refused to trademark them. That's Jesus for you, he's such a maniac. 😂✌️😇👍
I remember my grandparents were dying and got real religious at the end and were tithing all of their money to the church a couple to a few times a week.. grandpa’s legs were amputated from diabetes.. church was supposed to come build a ramp for him so he could wheel on into home….no one showed up. Then preacher was showing up in Armani suits and fancy jewelry, got caught because he was stealing everyone’s money. My dad built the ramp by himself. Same ol story as these Olsteen’s and such. I respect people’s individual beliefs but that was some mega church scam that left a bad taste in our families’ mouth. I respect religions but that put a real perspective on these cults (churches)… but hey, WWJD?

My mom always told me to believe in myself. :)
Can you imagine how society would change if they would channel the money to the poor?
I agree with the archetecture! I learned in design school old churches were designed to bring people closer to God with beauty. A feeling of the Divine!
Wow that guy with the plane is creep city!
I am a Christian and there are many of us who would agree with much of what you are saying. If you have ever read the Bible, you will see that God predicted it would be this way. "The Great Controversy" by Ellen G White said over 130 years ago "Religion has become the sport of infidels and skeptics because so many who bear its name are ignorant of its principles. The power of godliness has well-nigh departed from many of the churches. Picnics, church theatricals, church fairs, fine houses, personal display, have banished thoughts of God. Lands and goods and worldly occupations engross the mind, and things of eternal interest receive hardly a passing notice."
Mega churches preach “abundance”. If you give us money god will reward you monetarily. That’s it!
Let’s not forget when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston and Joel Osteen refused to open the church emergency shelter.. and then doubled down on it. 🙄
Exactly
as a believer and reader of the bible, I agree with this message. One of my favorite quotes ever is by Saint Francis of Asissi - "preach the bible at all times, if necessary use words". very wise words considering the actions of most 'christians' is the only bible some will every read.
I love the deep dive into this. People dont realise how dark these churches are, and their major grip on Alerican politics
I would also like to point out there are plenty of small churches that grift and lie as well
Except those people are face-to-face with the pastor know where they live.Know their whole family and know they don't live in a ten billion dollar house.
