I work for a park dept, it never would get rid of anything that nice, everything is drove until it will not move. My truck was a 25 yr old sqarebody and just recently died and sent to auction.( only brought 600). I like it when the auctioneer rides around in a "popemobile"............Thanks for posting , your videos were missed for the two month hiatus..............
Good to see you posting again, looking forward to seeing more videos on these. That 2015 Silverado ac was notorious for breaking the plastic bracket that holds the hose from condenser to compressor. Easy fix with a metal one and recharge if that’s the issue.
Yeah the compressor is common on that model check the hoses to it a guarantee one was rubbing on a bolt they do that often and rub through the line the fix is put a hose holder clamp on the bolt stoppes the rubbing
It's good that there's no auction fees! We have 10-20% fees in California, but the rust you guys have to deal with is brutal. I just saw a 1998 f250 4x4 with 40k miles looked brand new underneath. Sold for $3400 Sold
Good video. The state surplus auctions in Florida are now on-line only. They were a lot more fun and better prices when they were face-to-face on site auctions.
Check the ac fuse as well before getting any freon for recharging. Also like a few others have said, the thermostat housing looks possibly wet near the base if the neck. Could be a hairline crack or could be nothing. On the fullsize. For the Colorado, make sure to get a new valve cover gasket before pulling the cover off to check the timing chain slack. Also fuse check that one too for ac issues before going deeper for compressor replacements or recharging. Either way, good snags.

Damn, rolls right back taking care of business like no time has passed and comes out swinging with two great purchases. Clean the Silverado up, charge the A/C and double your money. Market is crazy right now but then again I don’t have to tell you that. Have fun with the little four banger. Welcome back!!! 👍🏻
My buddy's dad had a manual Chevy Colorado with the Vortec 3700 5 cylinder back in the day. I remember he told me it was a 5 cylinder and I didn't believe him, so he opened the hood, and bam, there was a 5 cylinder. That was a neat little truck.
Wow, haven't heard or seen from you in a long time. You definitely need to make a longer video to catch us all up on what you've been doing other than school stuff
used to have a colorado with a bed topper on it when i worked IT/AV install with an old buddy of mine, the thing was pretty comfy loaded up with all of our crap in the back of it, but man oh man was it a turd when packed up
i would have the cylinder deactivation tuned out of that silverado if you keep it. those trucks are notorious for having valvetrain issues around that mileage with AFM/DFM activated
I used to go to the state auction out by me plus my uncle worked for the state and was a top supervisor so his Ford pickup and Ford Taurus we're in great condition. The only bad thing is that they used to auction all the vehicles at once and that allows you to get a deal and eventually they smartened up and started to limit the amount of vehicles which got people to get out of control with bidding which turn everything into bidding wars which ruined everything. But you can get some really nice vehicles that been maintained.
There is no coolant in the overflow bottle of the 14’. So either the bottle is leaking from a crack, the radiator is leaking, or the head gaskets. The first are the most common.
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182 got ya, in the video it didn't appear there was any in the reservoir, or at least up to the fill line. I see this allot on this generation of trucks/suvs, but the thermostat is another problem area on the L83.
@@ARuralVermonterQqjmcb182the thermostat housing seals with a thin o ring on most pate model gm's. A new o ring is easy. But on my truck the housing was the same as an old school small block so I went the old paper gasket and silicone. The o ring works but after years of being squashed they turn square and start to leak.
Just wanted to say, I really miss your videos! I hope you are ok. Ever since that spring break you took with friends things have been different. So, I hope things are ok for you.
I like the manual windows on the Colorado. I have never seen the point in electric windows, they cost more and there is more to go wrong. I have never had a problem with manual windows and the effort to work them is minimal.
You need to jack it up clean the bottom and spray it with rust killer and then some kind of coating. Fix that rust hole before it gets worse. But overall GREAT BUY for 7k.👍👍👍
great video! i really enjoyed the insights about the surplus auction process. however, i can't help but wonder if buying cars this way really is as cost-effective as it seems. i mean, don’t you think there’s a risk of getting vehicles that have hidden issues? just curious about others' experiences!
What was your winning bid for the Colorado? I went to a large Ritchie auction in Springfield Ohio for all sizes of semi's, equipment and fleet trucks a couple of years ago and 2500 4x4 Chevy's were all selling for 12 to 16 thousand each. They sold probably 80 of them that day. 80% of them were sold from on phone buyer at the auction. I was surprised by the prices. I spent a day wandering around the lots before the auction. These trucks were in rough condition, many with 4x4 drive issues. I only would of bid on about 15 of the 80 pickup's, and vans. I only brought 12 thousand cash. At state auctions I can always pick up something good for under 12 thousand. How much higher in price is Ritchie auctions vs State ones.
My Colorado had 300 000 miles on it and i only got rid of it because of a wreck but there still driving it at the scrap yard it was a 4 cylinder no 4x4 but it was great
School must be out! Glad to see you again!

Good to see you again. Love the Car Auctions.👍👍
Of course most are gonna start up and sound better ...most are already warmed up or been started recently. Best way is to hear a cold start
Looks like a coolant leak at the thermostat on the silverado - can see it when you are showing the ac compressor.
Yeah, was about to mention that too. Looks like an easy fix at least.

Yes sir ree Bob, "school's out for summer", I think there's a song there someplace, looking forward to your builds, rural V.
Time for another beach trip in the old Toyota van.
It’s great your back missed your videos!!!
Welcome back! You did good with both purchases (as usual). Maybe you can do a video showing all the vehicles in your fleet?

Glad to see you back!! Both are good buys. Probably flip them if I were you.
So glad to see you back, RV!! Can't wait for your upcoming shows on these new vehicles!!
What did you pay for the Colorado?
Two great purchases, well done. Really interesting video 😊
Welcome back. I always enjoy your videos. Always good content. Hope your studies went well.
Good to see you back. Both of those have surprisingly little rust.
On the Silverado it looks like the thermostat housing has a coolant leak but it looks like you got a great deal on both 👍 Good To See you Back 👍
Nice to see you again! Looking forward to some fun stuff this summer 🙌.
They are both awesome. The Silverado is a deal and in great shape.

WHEN YOU SHOWED THE AIR COMPRESSOR I COULD SEE WATER AROUND THE RADIATOR HOUSE GOING INTO THE MOTOR / TAKE A LOOK
Thermostat housing or neck is plastic and looks wet.
Why are you shouting?

Give us a update rural vermonter bro on your summer, what are you doing? The lawn care work? Hope your well man and the back is getting better!
Great purchases, 2 double ups!!!
Nice score, my a/c was leaking green oil due to the dye recently, could be confused as coolant🛠️
He’s back!!!! I love the Colorado!

You killed it at the auction! Is the Colorado really a 4 cylinder 2.9 liter? Not familiar with them, just that seems an odd size. Great trucks dude!
Yes. 04-06 had the 2.8 liter 4 cylinder and 3.5 liter 5 cylinder. Then on up they had the 2.9 liter 4 cylinder and the 3.7 5 cylinder
yes it is
Glad to see you again!
Hi rural vermonter where you was?
We miss your nice rebuild cars videos in special silverados
While you were under hood checking compressor, looks like thermostat housing gasket is leaking
That 2014 looks like good score! I’m surprised they let you park all of those vehicles at your dorm. Good to see you post one again.

Congrats on getting ur newest trucks.. I like the 2014 chevy, I got a 2011 silverado with the 5.3l motor too. mine has 164,000 miles.
