Bottom line - Hyundai and Kia is going to be the leaders in the US market. Toyota and Honda will be left behind if they still don't change their outdated looks and techs.
Thirty year toyota fan...just couldn't go with the highlander.. Wanted to like it, many times but Didn't. Wanted to dislike the palisade , but didnt And we bought it..sel... Forget the silver or polished nickel grill though. Glad they blacked out the new grill on sel model.. And liking it so far. Not sure of longevity compared to toyota.. But it's not about that right now.. Palisade was set up nice: simple, easy screen, more comfortable, etc.
Thought experiment. What would the TCO (total cost of ownership) be to cycle through vehicles at a higher rate compared to buying a quality vehicle known for longevity and taking care of the PM (preventative maintenance)? What would be more prudent from a financial standpoint? There are other factors for sure. If you are someone concerned with financial health and acumen it's good to evaluate your TCO. Onward and upward!
The Toyota Highlander has looked the exact same for YEARS! It needs a serious redesign and overhaul. The Grand Highlander ALSO looks like the regular Highlander except it has a slightly larger grille. Bottom line- The Palisade is a better investment. And THAT is a hill I’ll die on
Long time Honda driver. The last two were Pilots and I loved mine but when I went searching to buy a new SUV, Honda Pilot just hasn't updated to features the Palisade has. I bought a 2024 two months ago and I LOVE it. I kept my old 2011 Pilot and I'm paying $20 less per month for the 2024 because of all the safety features. Time will tell if it holds up like the Pilot but I'm comfortable having the extra warranty. My Pilot has literally only gone to the shop for regular maintenance, oil changes and brakes, etc. and one other time when mice got in and chewed some wires. I have high hopes this Palisade will be the same.
As a technician this video is misleading the reality is that the Toyota Highlander will outlast any Hyundai and Kia because of Toyota build quality in their engines and transmission Scotty Kilmer would agree.
This was just an 18 minute hyundai ad for those who weren't aware. It's like if McDonalds made a McDonalds vs Wendy's video and McDonalds decided the burgers they produce beat the competition's burgers. Pretty shady hyundai. P.S. "it's a close contest but there's a clear choice" - then it's not a close contest...
Thought experiment. What would the TCO (total cost of ownership) be to cycle through vehicles at a higher rate (we can assume MSRP equilibrium) compared to buying a quality vehicle known for longevity (assuming the historical trend continues) and taking care of the PM (preventative maintenance which comes at a significantly lower cost than reactive repairs)? What would be more prudent from a financial standpoint? There are other factors for sure. If you are someone concerned with financial health and acumen it's good to evaluate your TCO. Onward and upward! Buy now, pay later (BNPL) = broke now, poor later!
Highlander has a Hybrid Highlander 4cyl turbo had more power Hyundai engine is still old school design & No Hybrid Highlander Platinun interior is Lexus Quality Toyota Lexus has the best reliability Hyundai reliability is like 6th place Prefer any Day 😂
This is way too biased. This video comes from Hyundai, of course they are going to shine better light on their car rather than the Toyota. Even based on the tone they use when talking about each car is to suggest Toyota is inferior and Hyundai is better.
How about how recalls they have had and maintenance cost. I have Hyundai they stay in the shop to much. Look nice lot of features. Toyota is just so much more reliable.
I prefer highlander for the built quality, reliability, resale value, use-full technology and the most trusted brand TOYOTA. Any way good luck Hyundai…
More to go wrong on the Hyundai and the new technology & features come at a HIGH cost (privacy) seeing the Hyundai is collecting so much data about you it's ridiculous! I'll stick with my high quality classic vehicles, they work just fine and I have eyes to detect many of the same hazards these "innovations" (great marketing) detect! There are some legitimate use cases and people that can benefit (everyone is different). Just understand the cost.
There are several points where they are incorrect. Highlander does have driver attention monitoring. It also has rear seat detection and will alert you when something is back there when exiting the vehicle. There are also voice commands on the Toyota. The button is on the steering wheel. And that proximity key is a hated feature of the Hyundai. Who wants your lift gate flying open every time you get within 3 ft of the rear end? Do your homework Hyundai if you're going to make a video trashing a competitor.
Palisade any day of the week for me!! Toyota is as ugly as it is boring. I have people in my family who have palisades for years and have had zero issues with it.
I appreciate the Palisade. If Toyota was so great, they won't be afraid to give the kind of warranty the Palisade currently have!
Toyota don’t need all the warranty people getting 300,000 out of the V8, and not even broke in until a 100,000.
@@popim79624😂😊 ❤
Please release a PHEV hybrid to compete with the highlander hybrid! It would be SUPER competitive to the toyota highlander hybrids.
You lose 1500 lbs towing capacity gain 500 lbs of weight. The Santa Fe has a plug in hybrid.

I'll get straight to the point. people will buy highlander just because they have a hybrid powertrain while the palisade doesn't.
And vice versa

They understood the assignment. They built the palisade to undermine the highlander. Missison accomplished.

Scottie's kinda thrown positives towards hyundai's recently.. And negative towards Toyota and Honda.
Thats a lie my 23 highlander with 8k miles is getting its transmission replaced lmao.
TOYOTA lacks behind with technology
How is it misleading? Does Hyundai claim that the Palisade will “outlast” the Highlander?
Their confidence with 10 years of warranty already shows their confidence in their products and that's more than enough proof of their longevity!
Jessy rocks!
Wish you would have compared the Palisade to the Grand Highlander instead.
But what can it tow?

Sounds like you’re looking for something to argue about. It’s all in the comparisons

You know what the Hyundai Palisade has that Toyota doesn't?
Broken valve springs that go through the engine
Highlander has a Hybrid
Highlander 4cyl turbo had more power
Hyundai engine is still old school design & No Hybrid
Highlander Platinun interior is Lexus Quality
Toyota Lexus has the best reliability
Hyundai reliability is like 6th place
Prefer any Day 😂
@JTkels agree and Saftey rating of Palisade as compare to Highlander.. nobody mentioned..
Let’s talk about recalls.
This is way too biased. This video comes from Hyundai, of course they are going to shine better light on their car rather than the Toyota. Even based on the tone they use when talking about each car is to suggest Toyota is inferior and Hyundai is better.
Toyota also make “the company’s car vs a car competitor” type of videos.

The Toyota won’t have transmission issues at 5k miles😅
I prefer highlander for the built quality, reliability, resale value, use-full technology and the most trusted brand TOYOTA. Any way good luck Hyundai…
Love, Toyota period history quality period but the new Highlander just uncomfortable, too busy, and changing to turbocharge?

Personally, I can’t even consider a Hyundai or a Kia until they fix their worthless motors that fly apart
Palisade any day of the week for me!! Toyota is as ugly as it is boring. I have people in my family who have palisades for years and have had zero issues with it.
Kia Telluride is faster than Hyundai Palisade
131mph vs 132mph electronically limited. Not like they will be going that fast anyway. But not really a distinction.
