    I still pick up a Pegasus every other year because it’s always a solid shoe. I get that there wasn’t really an update, but that doesn’t make it a bad shoe. I like that it is a shoe you can always count on for hundreds of worry-free miles

    It’s a strategy. They can’t keep improving every year cuz that much innovation that quick is not possible. So they give one good model that excites everyone, then one or two average models, which people will still buy cuz it’s a legacy shoe. Then they’ll come out with one banger model to make people salivate again.
    If you keep getting good models, you become desensitised

    Own both the Pegasus 38 and 39. Like the 39 better, the toe box is wider and you get a little extra energy. My 39 probably already has 400 km on them, perhaps more, and they look like they could go for another 400. If the Pegasus 40 is more of the same, that's fine by me, but that extra weight could be an issue. Where does the extra weight come from? What are other similarly-priced alternatives for a daily trainer?

    While other running shoe manufactures are working hard on fulflling runner's various daily needs and improving their racing category performance, Nikes seems too satisfied with their previous success with AF1, VF1/2 that they don't care about serious runners' daily needs. The entire training/daily line is mediocre and seems aim for general public rather than serious runners, which makes me feel they find it easier to make money from general public and Nike believers rather than from the runners who run regularly and have specific needs for diffenrent types of training. Without the thing called "Outlet/Factory Story", I could see less runners will go for Nike training pairs as any of its competitors could offer pairs that are much better.

    • @RunRecoverRally
      @RunRecoverRally 11 месяцев назад

      Why mention the AF1 if you’re talking about fulfilling “serious runners’ needs?” Nike has been pushing hard with their Vaporfly/Alphafly road racing shoes while branching into the trail segment with their Ultrafly. Their road trainer catalog is also versatile with simple & reliable trainers in the Pegasus/Infinity Run, max cushioning with the Invincible, and max support with the Vomero line.
      Maybe their shoes don’t work for you or heck, I’ll admit if I’m drinking too much of the Kool Aid. I do want to branch out to ASICS’ new Gel Cumulus and Nimbus 25’s along with ON’s Cloudsurfer

      @Believe in the Run Explain this to me running shoe experts? My first running shoe was the Nike Pegasus 27 in 2010. It retailed for $90. I wanted the Vomero 5 at the time, but it was too much. It retailed for $130. Foward the clocks to 2023. The Nike Pegasus 40 is now $130. A $40 increase. The Nike Vomera 16 is $150. Only a $20 increase in 13 yrs. time. So is Nike saying the $40 increase in price for the Pegasus 40 is more warranted than the $20 increase price of the Vomero 16 because it has made more advancements over the yrs. Reality check! The Vomero has now added Zoom X to their midsole, where the Pegasus only added and still has react in their foam. I can buy the Puma Nitro Volocity 2 with its super critical foam right now for $74. Regular price $120. That is a shoe that is totally undervalued where the Pegasus 40 is way overvalued for what you actually get.
