I have always thought it's weird how gaming chairs are designed to emulate motorsport bucket seats instead of a S-class Mercedes backseat like this one does.
As an owner of a car with a OE semi bucket seat, I can confirm that real car seats are by FAR much more comfortable than any "gaming chair" I've ever tested. Most of the credit goes into how real automotive seats all have absolutely superior lumbar support compared to gaming chairs. TLDR: If you want comfort and sport/racecar looks, you're better off bolting a real car seat to a set of wheels.
@@4G12 I have a _ancient_ sparco bucket at my garage and it is about as soft and plush as some gaming chairs I have sat on. I have actually thought about doing the car seat on office chair roller mod some day, a nice mid 90's cloth seat would be so comfy to sit on.
It even looks comfortable in the thumbnail, thats a piece of art ! my wife says i can get one of these for the living room which never happens. Its just so happens I havent yet told her the price....
first time ive seen a chair like this with a built in battery pack so it doesnt need to be wired all the time into a plug socket. that is brilliant. great review mat - I cant see you selling this one on ebay, would it even fit into a normal size van? lol
That thing must weigh a tonne. Love how fast it dips when Mat lowers the height you can see the building kinetic energy right there.. Impressive weight limit too did they get the gas strut from a lorry or something?
I really won't consider computer chairs anymore they really just overcharge for everything compared to other sectors of seating. My next chair will be a living room recliner for my desk because at least with them even though they cost a lot you can rely on the quality of what you're paying for.
Of course you can. You can always get cheaper things but if you watch this review I think it’s pretty fully loaded with some great features. You might not want all the features but some people Will. That’s what makes the world go round. Freedom of choice.
Thanks, great review. It is a pretty penny, one day maybe, looks perfect for larger chaps who suffer from crappy gas pistons and poor padding on a lot of chairs.
yeah a lot of big guys like myself end up wrecking chairs in a year, this one looks built to last, but the crate in the video put me off it, as it seems to ship by boat from china?!?
Exposed screwheads on the charging plate is the one letdown on the fit and finish. Besides that looks brilliant! Wondering one thing tho, does the back end of the bottom bit drop as you recline, or does it always stay parallel to the floor? Asking because I like to sit with my butt lower than my knees and it doesn't look like this chair does that.
I've bought a recliner armchair like 5 years ago for 250 USD. No gaming chair can match it. Planning to buy a 1000 usd one which is even better. Recliner is the best when your job is sitting in from of the PC all day long, like a software developer.
I could live in that chair. I'm jealous of the comfort Mat is getting from sitting in that thing. Very expensive though you need to have a minor lottery win to buy it.
Stupid question but can this realistically be used as an office chair for work for 6-7hrs a day? ie could it replace a HM Aeron for example? Watching movies and gaming, sure, but what about proper work for extended periods?
UK postage is free on their website. likely takes a few weeks if its by boat like Mat said, they could do with UK stock in a warehouse. fit about 10 of them into an amazon warehouse. lol.
Love the intro: Dr Evil indeed! And really, for me, it fails on looks. De gustibus... Anyway, great review, just lacking the addressing of one issue: how easily did you get it through your door? Some former neighbours had Ekornes chairs which I see are now of a similar price point (and up!) and they were wonderful, so I hope they'll enable you to do a comparison.
Thanks Quentin. It was a struggle to get it inside my house. It wouldn’t fit through the back door so I had to ‘de-crate’ it and then stick it in the car and drive it around to the front of the house. Then it was very much a friends style ‘PIVOT!!!’ moment getting it through my front door and porch 😂
@@CommanderPanda I hope you get to test more chairs. And I hope to see your long-term review in 6-12 months. Perhaps, being part of a tech channel, you might do a video on the technology behind them? Keep up the good work.
You had to go to the opposite side of the spectrum, didn't you? Just to prove a point. I found a second hand executive chair for £200 just as comfortable, admitted it doesn't have the electrics but they're not necessary. The chair was so comfortable I often fell asleep in it. The only problem was it was synthetic leather and it didn't last. I probably got about 5 years out of it. But you do not have to pay the stupid prices for a product just as good, I certainly miss that chair. I since bought one from Ikea and it is rubbish. If I could find another chair at the same price as that other one, I would do in an instant. I miss it terribly. It's as if the chair wrapped around you.
I dont think Kitguru can win, they have reviewed cheap chairs, mid range chairs and some monster price chairs. You will find someone in the comments for all of them saying everything is a waste of money, or something is too cheap, or too expensive. You will find people in gaming chair videos just ranting on about how everything with the word 'gaming' in the title sucks. I was quite pleased to see something like this featured - not cause id buy one, but just for the sh!ts and giggles.
I agree you don't need to spend this kind of money on a chair, but I would imagine the target audience for this chair are executives in high paying jobs and they might even be able to get their companies to buy it for their office. As a HALO product, its just fascinating for me to realise this is available even if I would never pay 2 grand for a chair.
Seems like the only improvement worth making to this chair is a set of aluminium rims with polyurethane tires for greater durability and quietness. Otherwise, it's practically perfect, if one can afford it.
I have several questions. Is this chair good for someone who is very tall ? I am 6.2 in height. Do you think that you could easily fall asleep in this chair ? Is this chair is comfortable as a regular LA Z BOY recliner ?
hmmm i always wondered. do i even have enough space for such a chair? but i love to have one. ... also, dont forgett the UNION money aspect ^^... how much is it in €? ^^ you still have EU watchers ^^
this chair is a rip off! I use a Lazyboy chair with feet up with corsair k63 wired lapboard and cheap DIY computer desk to get the monitors in the correct position over the Lazyboy chair.
Every single chair under $1,000 is hot garbage and it shouldn't be. "Can't afford a good chair haha here have back problems that you also can't afford to get fixed!"
Really prefer real leather instead of that rubbish "woke" leather which is just plastic. Real leather is so much more durable with no delimitation issues and its way more environmentally friendly as its not creating yet more plastic which wont degrade for centuries that contaminates the world with micro plastics.
I am in the UK yeah. It took a long time to get here. I’d kind of forgotten about it coming after they sent the email - then one day a guy in a lorry with a forklift showed up 😂

yes we have to phone him a few times to wake up. only downside of it.
I’ve had their products before and this is gonna be worth it. I’m upgrading around Feb and this is now on the top of my list.

I think most lorries’ gas suspension is less powerful than the one used in this chair

I contacted Kinnls few weeks as I was interested in one of their chairs, FYI - shipping to UK is $300
Oh wow. I did check this out during my research and the shipping came up as free to the UK for me
Makes sense as not as if you can put it in a jiffy bag and post it. That cost is probably subsidised too thinking about it.
