Best vocal performance by Rob of painkiller in a lot of years! really awesome with the different screams, both high and low - And the growl was fuckin awesome!
I recall Rob expressing a wish to try his hand at some black metal. How the texture of his highs is more splintery at his age would compliment that idea rather well :) People say he should drop songs like Painkiller... but he's making the very most out of what timbres his voice is meandering towards due to his years. In that respect he's a pretty inspiring man :)
Rob is sounding better than EVER right now on this song live...Holy fuckin hell! How is this man still doing this!?? He literally hit about every note humanly possible and beyond! MAN, I cannot WAIT for their new album. I hope it's heavy as fuck! One of the fastest drummers ever and greatest vocalists in the same band... : )
rob kills it how can anyone top this --hey kids PRIEST wrote this song as a result of metallica mania =they wanted to show everyone noone was faster harder etc they did it too !!! we didnt know what to think when this album came out it was like "the metal album to end all albums " there was no topping it for ferocity I THINK THEY SHOWED EVERYONE WHO WAS BOSS and it still has great impact on metal bands before todays 25?? genres of metal rock existed it took metal into thrash land without being thrash .....long live PRIEST !!!! THIS STUFF IS EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT TO PLAY STILL!
Priest did play the song Screaming for Vengeance during the last leg of the Redeemer of Souls tour ;) It is a fairly slow version though, and I think Rob has some trouble singing it, except near the end with the huge "Screeeeeaaaaaming".
I finally got to see Judas Priest in September 2021. Same way there. Rob sounded positively inhuman sometimes. God bless him for screaming his heart out for us fans for so long.
Like the best new preformance after 2003 Rob Halford nailed second part of the song "Faster than a lazer bullet Louder than an atom bomb Chromium plated boiling metal Brighter than a thousand suns " it sounded like orginal tune from music video even better , its just his will to sing like that so you should have respect the man is trying his best give him a medal for 40 years of fakin metal man xD
alexiex Even though Rob is awesome I cannot agree. He's not able to hit his higher notes anymore, he still hits them but not that high as he used to ;D
I'VE NEVER FUCKING HEARD HALFORD DO A DEATH METAL GROWL. THEN HE STRUTS OFF LIKE A BOSS, IVE GOT FUCKING TEARS IN MY EYES!!!!!!!! METAL GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He sounds like he's struggling here but that's to be expected considering his age. This performance is a lot better than recent ones I've seen. Rob is still THE Metal God.
I've loved Halford's growl ever since I saw him live at Heavy MTL. Good to know he's still doing it! About the comments about his vocals/age: He is still an amazing vocalist and is simply trying to preserve his voice. Priest will go on with Halford. LONG LIVE THE METAL GODS! \m/
He can sing everythings he want!the dude is just havin fun on the scene experimenting vocal tonality and rocking like no one !!!(he's 61 now) Rob is a god,Judas Priest is awesome!
On of the tougher Songs to perform live on a stage for any vocalist. I think Rob cursed this song many nights when he had to perform it live, but still i'm thankful that they decided to publish it back then as it is one of their greatest songs.
After this, watch: Painkiller live at Anaheim 2003 Painkiller live at Budokan 2005 Painkiller live at Grassop 2008 Gotta admit that Rob worked HARD on his voice ! He's so incredible.
I must be the only person alive (who's still a huge Priest fan) who thinks Rob can't handle the vocals on this song anymore. He can't scream it all with the same brutality as he once could. It sounds pretty damn painful at parts.
he is the pain killer, this is the pain killer, wings of steel ,pain killer, deadly wheels, pain killer !!!! this is absolutely the best heavy metal song ever.
I went to see Priest during the Epitaph tour. Halford comes out for "Prophecy" dressed as "Nostradamus" and never shows his face. He looks at the ground for all of "Painkiller", and doesn't sing a word of "Breaking the Law". Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
I was there that very evening hungover (thanks to the Guinness I drank following all those Carlsberg's and Bulmer's Apple Ciders lol) during their set, but I simply had no choice but to rock out to Priest! It was one of the happiest days of my life!!! :)
This is the best I think Rob has ever sounded doing this song, this is fucking brutal, I am dying to see them live! That fucking roar he does at 4:00 is just awesome!
Gotta hand it to JP - when they come, they don't screw around and I'd certainly love to see the work their sound managers do - true professionals. I've seen them live twice and they tore the place up big time each time.
I thought he struggled in parts, but was pretty awesome for the majority of this performance of this song. I've heard some performances of this song that he should not have given, but I don't think this is one of them. And I don't think that there's anyone else who could possibly pretend to be able to sing this song live. His voice has changed, but it's still awesome, & even better than it used to be in some respects, especially live: still delivering spine-tingling power after all these years.
Does Ian Hill ever move to the front of the stage? Does he even move at all? It seems like he's glued in place for the entire concert :P Great band though
Judas Priest is the best heavy metal band ever! Absolutely no.1 Who don't think that Judas Priest is the best shall spend boring eternity in heaven! Only true Priest maniacs will be take to hell by Painkiller!
It's likely he's getting close to the monitor to hear himself as clear as possible so he doesn't project his voice too hard, which will enable him to squeeze out those squeaky high notes.
even if his voice is not at the top on this one, this is still Rob"metal god"halford...! and if there are some metal band it's because of these guys..Judas Priest rules, and that's all...
I would vote Painkiller I mean the song has so many time signatures and you gotta keep up with that intensity and ferocious speed nothing competes with the Painkiller album SAW JUDAS PRIEST LAST YEAR JULY 16TH MANCHESTER APOLLO BEST FUCKING SHOW OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!! WE AREEEEEEEE DEEEEFEEEEEENDERRRRS OFFFFF THE FAAAAAAAAITH!!!
Yeah his voice does go off once or twice, but for the most part this is an amazing performance from a guy who's 60! I love that he screams most of the parts when he knows his voice is gonna go, he has so much control over it. I am dying to see them live.
That unexpected death growl
+YisFX that was fucking awesome!
Mutumaniac yeah lol
He does it a lot when they perform this song.
4:02 Lol. Rob Halford death metal growl.
+IronSabbathPriest Huahahahahahahahaha. Largou o gutural! Foda!
IronSabbathPriest I didn't know that he could do that. hahaha
que fooooda, muito Deus mesmo
that was sexy
He can do everything
Best vocal performance by Rob of painkiller in a lot of years! really awesome with the different screams, both high and low - And the growl was fuckin awesome!
I think they changed the tuning tho but rob is will always be half human half machine.
He was awesome in the 2nd half of Painkiller on the Epitaph DVD too!
@@supramusic9667 since Tim years they are down tuned .
Half step lower
Judas has definitively reach another level with Scott on drums.
Rob Halford still has it! I can imagine how much harder it is to do this song with age. I am impressed.
EinoRapids true
I fucking loved that death metal growl.
Anybody who doesn't think that Scott Travis is not the best metal drummer alive, just listen too this song!!!!! Nuff said.....
Wow, he sounds so much better than in 2005 and 2008.
he sounded very well in 2003!!!! this is performence is shit compared to 2003
So true
True. He really improved, not many can do that at that age range. Really good!
SilverTounge85 Yes !!!! Halford is the best metal singer ever !!! 👍👍👍
4:39 - 4:55 ¡WOW! ¡simplemente increíble!
Todos estos comentarios criticando al pobre Rob, yo les aseguro que a su edad van a agradecer al menos seguir vivos.
Yo desearía poder cantar así, ese hombre por algo es y será el dios del metal.
I recall Rob expressing a wish to try his hand at some black metal. How the texture of his highs is more splintery at his age would compliment that idea rather well :)

we need the painkiller for covid 19
I saw Priest back in October of this year 2014. Nothing wrong with Rob's vocals anymore. He was hitting all the high notes, screaming for vengeance.
Priest did play the song Screaming for Vengeance during the last leg of the Redeemer of Souls tour ;)
It is a fairly slow version though, and I think Rob has some trouble singing it, except near the end with the huge "Screeeeeaaaaaming".
I finally got to see Judas Priest in September 2021. Same way there. Rob sounded positively inhuman sometimes. God bless him for screaming his heart out for us fans for so long.

He gets better and better with age...
u think Glenn? Definitely !
Both Halford and him ;)
alexiex Even though Rob is awesome I cannot agree. He's not able to hit his higher notes anymore, he still hits them but not that high as he used to ;D
EVERY CONCERT ROB SOUNDS MORE AWESOME THAN EVER..! AMAZING...
I'VE NEVER FUCKING HEARD HALFORD DO A DEATH METAL GROWL. THEN HE STRUTS OFF LIKE A BOSS, IVE GOT FUCKING TEARS IN MY EYES!!!!!!!! METAL GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mad Martigan I thought the same thing! Fucking BADASS! He owns it!!
All hail before The Priest!!!!!!! All contendants fear The Priest!!!
I'll never be able to sing like that when I'm 60. I wasn't when 16. Why hasn't he been on the Guinness Book of Records ?
Oh wow!!! What an awesome performance by the mighty British Priests
He sounds like he's struggling here but that's to be expected considering his age. This performance is a lot better than recent ones I've seen. Rob is still THE Metal God.
Judas Priest forever!

Can’t wait to see the guys in Rockville 2019. I’ll be ready to mosh to Painkiller
When you as good as you do on an album, that's when you know that this was a fucking great concert. He killed it!
On of the tougher Songs to perform live on a stage for any vocalist. I think Rob cursed this song many nights when he had to perform it live, but still i'm thankful that they decided to publish it back then as it is one of their greatest songs.
I watched this yesterday on VH1 Classic and my jaw literally dropped at the fact that this is probably the best one they have done live.
still rocking at 60! rob, you kick ass my friend! long live the priest!
After this, watch:
Painkiller live at Anaheim 2003
Painkiller live at Budokan 2005
Painkiller live at Grassop 2008
Gotta admit that Rob worked HARD on his voice ! He's so incredible.
Nice to see someone else say this
Can't stop the painkiller!!!
This proves why he is still the Metal God!
Wow I got answering you from 11 year ago 😅 judas priest forever ❤
Aren't they wonderful, those lads? Another excellent version of this total epic.
This is the most epic live version of this song i've heard!
That was awesome, He still can rock!
Going through HELL right now, I really needed this!!!!
Not death metal, just heavy metal. Judas Priest is the definition of the genre Traditional Heavy Metal.
dat growl
최고다 진짜 말이 안나온다
Guys is not about the fucking age, it's about how much you love the music. Rob and Scott are the proof
FIREPOWER...THERE BEST ALBUM EVER..!!!!
4:02 to 4:05 damn rob
amazing.... gives goosebumps from 0:00 up to 6:04 I have never seen growling Rob! After 40 years he IS amazing!
I must be the only person alive (who's still a huge Priest fan) who thinks Rob can't handle the vocals on this song anymore. He can't scream it all with the same brutality as he once could. It sounds pretty damn painful at parts.
UNREAL!!!!!
I can't wait to see them again for the 5th time in March 2018 in NY!
ESUSAMEX Im seeing them on the 20th at prudential. Can’t wait!! 🤘❤️
he is the pain killer, this is the pain killer, wings of steel ,pain killer, deadly wheels, pain killer !!!! this is absolutely the best heavy metal song ever.

I'm a Judas Priest fan and first thing i thought was:
-"Hilarious! He's reading the lirycs from the floor! :D "
saw painkiller tour in 91,halford hurt my ears then ,wish he still could, I know he's older now but I miss that.
Priest killed it!
Agreed my friend! I saw Priest 14.04.12 and it was also the best concert in my life! KEEP THE FAITH BROTHER!
This is easily the best live performance of Painkiller I've ever seen Rob do. Kick ass!
"And son...they're Judas Priest"
AT 60 YEARS OF AGE U TO CAN ROCK LIKE THIS BAND THAT IS JUDAS MOTHER FUCKIN PRIEST!
I was there that very evening hungover (thanks to the Guinness I drank following all those Carlsberg's and Bulmer's Apple Ciders lol) during their set, but I simply had no choice but to rock out to Priest! It was one of the happiest days of my life!!! :)
i dont know about you but this concert made my life
This is the best I think Rob has ever sounded doing this song, this is fucking brutal, I am dying to see them live! That fucking roar he does at 4:00 is just awesome!
best performance of this song by halford i've seen in YEARS!!!!! old and tired MY ASS!!!
Gotta hand it to JP - when they come, they don't screw around and I'd certainly love to see the work their sound managers do - true professionals. I've seen them live twice and they tore the place up big time each time.
This is the best live Painkiller I've seen Rob do on RUclips, he kicks ass here!
Ian hill. The unmovable thing.
i seriously cannot stop watching this performance. Halford fucking rules
one of the best painkiller verions
I saw these guys a year after seeing black sabbath(Dio) , was amazing. Not many 14 year olds can say they have seen two metal pioneers
He's actually 60, and will be 61 next August.
I thought he struggled in parts, but was pretty awesome for the majority of this performance of this song. I've heard some performances of this song that he should not have given, but I don't think this is one of them. His voice has changed, but it's still awesome, & even better than it used to be in some respects, especially live: still delivering spine-tingling power after all these years.
Rob still has insane vocal range in his 60's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
K.K ...Please come back!!!!!!
BREAKING THE FLOOR! BREAKING THE FLOOR!
Not the complete song without all of that sick drum intro
No words can describe how fuckin' awesome was this music...
Immenso Roberto! Grande dignità!
this is INCREDEBLIE, JUDAS a LEGEND heavy metal BAND, still, GOD of METAL , GOD BLESS you all.
This was when they still had the kick ass stage show. Not just screens.
Does Ian Hill ever move to the front of the stage? Does he even move at all? It seems like he's glued in place for the entire concert :P Great band though
RickyboyH Nah, he's like Cliff Williams and Bill Wyman and stays in the background.
Judas Priest is the best heavy metal band ever! Absolutely no.1
Who don't think that Judas Priest is the best shall spend boring eternity in heaven!
Only true Priest maniacs will be take to hell by Painkiller!
60 years old, age takes it's toll, How many people at 60 can still hit some of his notes? Not many.
Jesus! I've never seen Halford singing like that! By far his best performance of all Judas Priest live presentations
@mazhammer yeah, i saw them in wacken last year and as long rob does good singing (and he did!), priest will be great
THE BEST JUDAS PRIEST SONG IMO!
4:39 to 4:53 is awesome!
I was here, AWESOME.
It's likely he's getting close to the monitor to hear himself as clear as possible so he doesn't project his voice too hard, which will enable him to squeeze out those squeaky high notes.
Si va a Eurovisión gana fijo k temazo 🤘🤘🤘
judas priest is on a different level of badass
Saw them on the 1990 tour and his voice was spot on then ...
even if his voice is not at the top on this one, this is still Rob"metal god"halford...! and if there are some metal band it's because of these guys..Judas Priest rules, and that's all...
Still the most popular song at Distorted, a metal night at The Union in Dundeee University :D
he's got all my respect
british band always rule metal and rock world even though i am indian great performance
They truly are the Metal Gods
Rob Halford bowing down to the Painkiller.
È sempre il N1
This made my day
Yeah his voice does go off once or twice, but for the most part this is an amazing performance from a guy who's 60! I love that he screams most of the parts when he knows his voice is gonna go, he has so much control over it. I am dying to see them live.
