The Tull is a great example, even though is a cult favorite of the hardcore fans. I agree John, ‘A’ is a good prog album, and Eddie Jobson, fresh off of his stint in UK, who opened for Tull on the Stormwatch tour is on keys and electric violin.
Abominog by Uriah Heep. The cover looks like it's from an extreme metal band. The music and vocals sound too commercial AOR. 2 songs that I like are "too scared too run" which is a fast hard rocker and "sell your soul" which has an eerie organ sound which is typical of them.
I agree. That was originally going to be my pick but I really do like the music on the record, so I went with the stricter criteria of cool cover/bad album.
BOC's Curse of the Hidden Mirror was always in this category for me, for whatever reason. Love Broadsword, and it does have Beastie as the opener which actually is the closest Tull ever came to a metal song.
Oh Common, J. Tull The "Broadsword and the Beast" is OK = It is just Ian Anderson letting his butterfly wings out with a sword! Think of the songs like "Pussy Willow".. This is Ian at his MOST "ButterFlyish" form! 🙂 The Bonus tracks from this album are actually better than the album = "Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow", Is Fun! It is a cool Tull cover though! Very Iconic! But not the best Tull music for sure, but should be checked out. Though I LOVE OZZY Sabbath, "Never Say Die" just plain Sucks!, IMHO.. Talk about a band that is just ready to quit.. This is the album for that!! Just like Led Zeppelin "In Through the Out Door", which is another pathetic album by a Giant band who wants to quit, with a cool Album cover at the time! Uriah Heep "Fallen Angel" is OK, but a bit of a let down.. 😞 With about 3 good songs I think. Awsome artwork though, by Chris Achilléos! Cirith Ungul = Great Album Covers But the music was just Blah!! Art by Michael Whelan My last pick is "Meatloaf" .... I can not stand this Musician "RIP" IMHO. I know that he is LOVED, But I NEVER got into his music! But Awesome Album covers, wich Never lived up to "MEATLOAF". BTW I have Never liked "Molly Hatchet" even as a Southern rock band! Their covers of the early albums by Frank Frazzeta "I think" Please let me know if I am wrong on this.. Their covers were Awsome
@meloralovesdarkness2495 nooooooo, Frank was the master. He was not a student of Boris. Frank was is 13 years his senior and was a professional illustrator when Boris was still a child. Frank Frazetta passed away at age 82 in 2010.
I seem to be in the minority but I actually really like Sabbath's Forbidden cover. The album not so much. The Grateful Dead have some cool covers but I could never get into them.
Conquest-Uriah Heep

Saxon Crusaders ? Aside from the title track .., well meh .., but I do like the artwork for the cover a lot ..,
Skyclad : Folkemon. I love that artwork, really creative. The album is not so bad, but nothing compared to the older material of the band

I hear yeah , but I do like the album for what it is , give it a spin here and there ..,

This was a fun one! Awesome as always
Theater of Pain,Crue
Nothing connected to this show, but one of Ted’s heaviest is Craveman, which I just heard recently. Love it.
Tony Dio, I know your from North Carolina. I hope you and your family are okay. Rock on.
Lucifer's Friend was an outstanding choice. That first album...wow. Banquet? Oof. That's a tough listen.
I love Banquet. John Lawton considers it peak Lucifers Friend. I put it at my 3rd favorite
Yikes! @@Gregbaltzer
@@GregbaltzerBanquet rules.
@@TMINE100 it took me awhile, because it's outside of my wheelhouse as a metalhead, but I came to love it.
i quite like the deed is done!!!!🤟
Cooper , Zipper Catches Skin .., I like the album cover concept ., but man what a terrible album , he really was and literally was out of it then ..,
Nugent transitioned great to Damn Yankees, but had some good songs from those 80s solo albums

1st 3 Molly Hatchet covers were Frank Frazetta paintings.
@@darinmccloskey9906 Yes you are right! Frank Frazzetta was his name, student of Boris Vallejo! Both Awesome Artists!
