  • In this video I demonstrate how here at Gordy's Goodworks I can convert ANY unit OR pre-unit Triumph twin cylinder engine to use Norton Commando "Superblend" type main bearings. These heavy duty bronze-caged cylindrical roller bearings deal with torsional and radial loads immensely better than the stock ball/roller setup. As a result you will notice the engine turns over much more easily, revs much more freely, accelerates noticeably better, and produces more power. If you need this conversion done please don't hesitate to contact me.

Nice work mate, I like the approach you have taken of ‘if it looks and feels right, then it probably is’. There is a lot to be said for experience and knowing how things work, not everybody has had the opportunity to gain the depth of knowledge that you obviously have, but your no bull**** manner is what has built engineering throughout the ages, Well done! I run a full CNC workshop, mills and lathes, but I wouldn’t even contemplate trying to do this on my T140 myself, mainly because I really don’t have the time to give to it and I don’t want to start something and not be able to finish it in a timely manner, nor do I want to rush it. You may well see my Trumpet bottom end come in your door one day. Fabian

Excellent video, great to see a real engineer in action.
It also looks like you have an understanding wife!

Thanks very much Stan! And I'm single but thanks anyway :D. Here's another engine I did the same thing to running, you can clearly hear how freely the engine spins ruclips.net/video/IqwiBF2g0qQ/видео.html

Brilliant video. Background music was a bit off putting. When I try to learn something important I do not want any distractions. When I am doing something technical to my old Brit bike I will not even have a radio going. I shut myself into my work shop so there will be no distractions until I work through the problems I am having. I feel that I am the luckiest man on earth as I live on my own with a beautifully equipped workshop where I can work in peace. Everything except breathing is secondary to the enjoyment of working through a tough problem in my workshop. Perhaps when you make another video the radio can be turned down all the way to off and I can concentrate on what you are saying 100%. Still it is a great video and I fully agree on what you are saying about the different types of bearings.

You are quite welcome. I figured I'd show how this was done because very few people are aware that it is even possible.

I wonder what type bearings were used in my Rotax ? Guess we will find out soon. Ron Wood did say to use Roller Bearings instead of stock after any big bore kit is installed. And also said to use a two bearing set up as to handle the extra wear that the much stronger motor puts out.

If they were stockers they are 6207 ball bearings. These are a x306 dimension bearings which have the same inside and outside diameter but 2mm wider width, but will stand over 100hp.

Hi; a T140 does not need a shim actually.
Are those Nourish s crankshafts? (I cannot understand exactly many of what you say; not clearly the audio) I assumed that it do not have sludge trap so what is that hole that looks like that?
    Thanks

Do a Timkin bearing conversion. They have the proper size and no machining needed. They are also the superior bearing.

FFS write a script and read it! You have a lot of knowledge that needs better delivery.

You may have a good understanding of main bearings but you put me to sleep.

      You said it Heinz!
What do you mean by "do not attempt this is your machine is loose"? Are you trying to say be careful not to damage your cases if your machining ability is not good. FYI folks if you're able to indicate a hole. Bolt something down solid: and read a mic. You'll be ok to bore a hole. Stop acting like its hard or you need a "tight" machine. It's aluminum.

Heinz Smuck Schlumpf. If you were put to sleep by watching this video then you are not very mechanically minded . This is one of the most important video's that you will ever see, and you went to sleep???? what"s wrong with you. I thought that Germans were good engineers, I suppose that I was wrong in your case.

Andrew Brabank. Only a fool would say what you have said about crankshaft bearings. There are people that do these things and then there are others that point out why it can not be done and seek to denigrate the doers because they are jealous of a person that can really do what they can not. You and Heinz would be really good looser mates.
