63 Bonneville. The memories. Watching the foot peg vibrate wildly in the video, reminded me of parts falling off while riding on the highway. I lived a couple of miles from the Bud Ekins motorcycle shop. They had Steve McQueen repairing tires in the shop, preparing him for Six Day Trials.
A beautiful bike, very similar to the ex bud ekins bike I bought in 1968,when I was 15.I rode and raced that bike all over southern California, great memories!
Drooling. What a fantastic motorcycle and great interview. Cool to see so much rear fender clearance and what looks likes a Bates see that would usually be used on a preunit. I actually just finished a preunit build with a loop in the frame downtube like this one! Just rode it and posted the video on my channel. Long live desert sleds!
Beautiful bike, beautiful pipes, beautiful sound. I think Triumph vertical twins are some of the best looking engines in all of motorcycling. To be a kid in the sixties was to want a Triumph with all your heart and soul.
Vivo en Caracas Venezuela tengo 70 años cuando muchacho tuve un 350 de distribuidor también tuve 650 y otra 750 Tridem luego a mi país Moto palace las traía nuevas no la trajeron más pura motos chinas
Mindblowing. Well done on salvaging this amazing piece of reengineering. And well done on choosing Blundstone Boots! If you watch this with CC on its says MUSIC when the bike is revved!
Beautifully restored 👏 Completed with love... I always enjoyed my T100C 500 (modified to my needs)...went around Europe and the Canaries There's a specific sound that triumph twins have.. For me romantic...the sound, that is..🤣👍🇬🇧
Nice to bump into you at Triumph. I'm the "nice you've found someone professional to film you" guy. I was lucky to have Dick show me around his bikes inside the museum (did a very amateur film of it) He's such an enthusiast and loves his classic Triumph's. Glad someone is making some films about his bikes. Keep up the good work 👍
Triumph is one of my favorites,,, it used to be excellent in 6s and 70s, spacially Triumph Tiger, excellent sound which was enhanced by Honda in 70s in their 125 twin 4-speed ring gear, box frame chassis, Triumph vanished from the market for many ears then came 900 3, in Dubai when I used to ride Kawasaki GPX 750,,, a true sports,,,,have turned speedometer all the upto stopper after 200 km/h, Has a chance to take test ride Triumph Bonville 900 and 1200, twins, excellent power,,,easy to ride because my son's KTM 390 Duke single, I find heavy to ride,
Very nice bike. I once had an original 1963 T120C . It had the ET Ignition, we nick named it Steve McQueen. These bikes look stunning. A Book to enjoy ( not cheap) Steve McQueen 40 Summers Ago - NZ
I knew that they would mention Bud Ekins at some point,. He was responsible for many of the changes that were mae to the desert-ridden Triumphs sponsored by Johnson Motors in Pasadena, California.
Who did the mag conversion? The love brothers?? Ive got a trackmaster that is a continuation of that bike It was owned By Ray Hensley's head fabricator-the vid is on my channel. Great bike!!
Wow! The ultimate desert sled. That mag conversion is cool. Kinda sad that it won't be ridden in the desert though... When Meguro copied the Triumph engine for use by Japan's gamble racers they also made the cams removable without splitting the cases. They made a couple of other mods to it as well. Come to think of it, I wonder if that is actually a Meguro engine, because the Meguro had the mag mounted just like that......?? The gamble racers also tried using alu cylinders but found that the engines put out more power with the standard iron barrels. Other tricks included heavy screws installed vertically in the flywheel to allow the riders to adjust the amount of flywheel inertia to suit track/weather conditions. When the gamble racers switched to Suzuki race engines all the Meguro/Triumph racing engines and parts found their way into the classic racers and street machines. I have a 66 sled that I converted into a 750 street tracker fitted with a flowed, center-plug head (10mm plugs) from a Japanese gamble racer. Its swingarm has a reinforcing brace along the bottom of the swingarm tubes, which was apparently. a period mod.
“On Any Sunday” ….Malcolm Smith , Steve McQueen and even Arthur Lampkin would have done this the justice it so craves. Soz Arthur was a beezer man I know. Perhaps Ray Sayer - a Yorkshire man who campaigned Triumph twins at trials and the SSDT
WOW why is this not available now ! Sod the desert stick some sticky rubber on it changing the gearing for about 120ish day time mot definitely a crowd puller ‘ Poole bike night,,,,,
So it started life as a 1963 TR6SC but in 1966 it got a set of 1966 Cases and Frame? So what is left from 1963? Sounds to me like a mis-matched rehash. Could use a tune up also.
i had a yamaha 360 71 won 14 desert races..not me rideing .... was built to the hilt ....triumps and i had a boneville...where badly out classed by 1970.....huskies. etc..i raced motocross
Back to the good old days for sure. Great video of the truly beautiful Triumph.

A truly beautiful bike, thanks for starting it for us!

Every single aspect of that bike is perfection- beautiful.
The art and soul of a Triumph.
One of the coolest desert sleds out there !
Very COOL. Giving Me a Fonzy vibe. Love all the old British Bike's. This is taking it to a higher level.
What a sound!
Yeah… they messed up a little with that 270 degree crankshaft in current Triumphs. Those old 360 degree had really distinct sound. Oh well…
Sounds amazing! There is no mistaking the super tuned motor.
Ein wundervolles Motorrad, danke für das Video!
Amazing bike and only a few made excellent restoration .love the trick engine
That's the most beautiful thing and an infectiously enthusiastic excellent talk about it. A shining job all round. Thank you
So light and pretty. Park it alongside a modern 750 and see what we've gained - and lost.
Outstanding!!! I would like to see some BSA, Norton, Royal Enfield, etc. from the same era!!!
Truly awesome, so glad you took the time to show us viewers.
And that Comfort Food van. Would love some authentic fish & chips rolled up in the paper!
Such a beauty, wow!
That is extra special.
Fantastic bike. I totally get the need for extra breathers!
love these guys & their engineering talents
Absolutely Fantastic...
Absolutely gorgeous
Just amazing!!
Awesome bike sounds fantastic 👍
Very nice bike. I love the sound! Thanks for sharing.
Stunning...
It looks like the front end has been kicked out, or raked, too.
A real beauty, and quite representative of the desert sled breed.
What a beauty! 👍✨✨

Heavy Metal music.😁
Beautifully restored 👏

For me romantic...the sound, that is..🤣👍🇬🇧
It’s the 180* engine that give that significant sound, I think

What a badazz machine!
All you need now is the start line and the smoke from the burning tires to race to and hang on. Loved that era of motorcycle racing.
That is a beauty 👍
Très belle machine ❤
Awesome bike.
Check out the original Johnston Motors building if you’re ever in Los Angeles, it’s on Sunset blvd in a very cool area. They sell clothes and gear.
Gorgeous bike.
I would love to have that on the road
What a beauty
Excellent
Everything you want in a bike

meravigliosa!
Triumph need to make a modern version of this I am sure it would be a mega hit
Sounds good
I knew that they would mention Bud Ekins at some point,. He was responsible for many of the changes that were mae to the desert-ridden Triumphs sponsored by Johnson Motors in Pasadena, California.
Never forget to release the tappets!
Id say that would suit Steve McQueen nicely

Gorgeous, probably could eek out a few more ponies and some torque with a tuned exhaust. Straight pipes always slow bikes down.
"Eke"
Otra vez ..... que hermosa

WOW why is this not available now ! Sod the desert stick some sticky rubber on it changing the gearing for about 120ish day time mot definitely a crowd puller ‘ Poole bike night,,,,,
Bonjour les amis , une autre époque !!! Régalez vos oreilles

Vali Bullet
👌👌👌
Looks like they got this bike turned up to 11.
gorgeous machine, shame it's a static museum piece,

Beautiful bike but best not wear shorts with those exhausts.😖
Can we hear it idle?
Steve McQueen’s ride? 🤔
Do you reckon that bloke might be having Steve McQueen fantasies about himself??? If it was my bike I would be!!
Running as rough as guts
So “right”!
should have left the Ekins frame 'as ridden', there's them;s that like patina and them's that don't i guess.
wabi sabi.
I want to meet the hot babe in the blue jacket at the 2:30 mark.
She's holding her helmet, so I assume she's riding! (Hopefully a Brit bike)!
Anyone know the number of Teeth on each sprocket?
..why a 'concentric' carb?
some trick bits indeed but is it me or does it sound like a bag of nuts? misfiring all over the shop? it sure doesn't sound as nice as my T120TT
The carb sounds out a little.
Really dumb questions. How many horsepower? Top speed? Who cares, it’s irrelevant for a bike like this.
Not again
😂😂😂those who know . Know
Missing the fenders. You aren't riding that off road without fenders. Not for very long anyway
It`s pretty "trick"
