I enjoy the learning curve for healing, and how it introduces degrees of freedom. From "see HP drop, use heal" to "use the right fast/slow/aoe heal for the situation" to "use right heal for the right role/self", to "adapt to party def CDs used" to "adapt to off. CDs used, fight length and pull sizes". And thats just the healing curve. CC, damage and interrupts have their own progression. And great video as always!
So many good tips! I hope I will get invited to my first 13 one day after spending hours in Dornogal in a World of Waiting TWW. (I have all the +12 timed already.) Cheers
As far as information on screen is concerned, sometimes less is more. I set up my OmniCD to show me the most important defensive cooldowns per character only, and I put all the offensive cooldowns into a separate group which I moved to the side of the screen
Hi Jack, I actually started to see patterns like this in dungeons, every set of time you have "that" trash pack that has aoe damage and you have to start preparing for healing bursts, it's actually quite satisfying when playing Disc priest, thanks for the extra tools on who's going to get wrecked by X spell LMAO, hope to see you again soon
Great video! I’ve been tanking since I came back in BFA and started some healing in F and now TWW got KSM as monk and your videos have been amazing in helping with this shift!! I swear evoker in pug are always dead! Usually heal as Druid but MW is my jam!
Jak, did you say your OmniCD profile was in the description or did I misunderstand? I can't find it sadly. Keep up the good work, this community needs more healers and your videos make life easier and enjoyable for healers.
I have been using cell that you recommended and have had Omni cd for a while. I did not know about the targeted spell feature on cell. Good to know since I use a weak aura. One other thing I like about Omni cd is the interrupt tracker. Great help. 😊
I am a fan of that Cell addon feature but not a fan of all the extra stuff, I use the default wow frames, is there a way to get just that incoming spell feature without all the extra stuff?
For Monica, I really like splitting the major offensives into a new group and then position that slightly off to the defensive ones and make them smaller
I'm a Mythic+ Anxious DPS, Havoc, the most anxiety inducing for a first expansion imo. Though the No Mover does quite well DPS wise. I wish WoW came up with a better system for Mythic + where it doesnt become so isolated as anyone, even someone who might be better in a year, may be kicked for a mistake. They really need to create a more community focused setting where if 4x Mythic Rating 2000's bring a 300 Rated person from the looking to learn queue who participated and played throughout. Extra rewards. Either ignore how some abuse thensystwm for quick gainsor heavily punish it when it crops up. It would be spoer cool to have the equivalent of a Raid Leader who actually leads the group, and calls out stuff. Surprisingly useful. A Team Captain, or Dungeon Leader. Ive had a couple in PUGs and they ruled, cause this is my first expansion so, lots of different Dungeons with sifferent mechanics, lots of immediate resentment towards mistakes.
My main problem with setups like this, is that having like 10 to 12 abilities in omni CD and then also targeted spells on top of everything else I'm supposed to be tracking just feels a bit overwhelming. It's just too much information at once. Perhaps I'm just washed up?
Information overload is real. I'm new to wow, and boy has it been overwhelming. I like to introduce things slowly, and make sure that I actually take in the information that I put on my UI. If I have something on my UI but I never end up looking at it, I make a decision; if I think it's important and I'm the one not utilizing it well, then I change it's position/size etc... if I still am not processing that information, then I take it off my screen and save it for later when I'm more comfortable with everything else that's there. one thing that really helped me with omnicd was sorting by spell type. For example, making it so defensive spells appear on the first column and self heals/healing potions on the next one. Ultimately though, not speaking from experience just yet, but I imagine that as you get more comfortable with the different trash and boss encounters, your brain will have more space to process more information, like your party's spells, interrupts, etc.
A cool video idea in a similar vein to this might be something like "does your dps offhealing matter?" with the upcoming 11.0.7 patch coming up adding rings that have healing passives, can you notice if your shadow priest, your shamans, your death knights, your ret pally's are healing themselves and other people?
Thanks! I would love a guide aimed towards folks pushing higher keys (e.g. 12's and above) and are trying to break into that next level of difficulty. I'd be curious to know what skills a healer needs in a +13 versus a +16. What are the small things that make a difference?
ty for spotlighting the targeted spell WA. my plater shows who the target is on the cast bar but an icon on the frame helps a lot. I also use omnicd but only show the teams' major def cds so i know when someone is vulnerable and the kick tracker so i can watch no one kick. i have a WA that lights the frame when off cd is used so i can send PI if i want. disc is so fun rn, then again i've been having fun on hpal and prevoker too. everyone complaining about m+ but it's super fun right? if i had more time i would definitely try rsham and mw. please ask blizzard to put silence on the priest class tree, m'kay? youdabest!
Hey jak, love your videos. Wanted to get your advice. Can't decide between healing on MW monk and resto shaman. I mostly do raid, any advice and why? Happy to provide more on raid comp if you'd like. Aotc focused raid
hi, I'm playing Healer for the first time in years. What is the name of the addon for the offensive and defensive cooldowns under your group window? Thanks for your videos :)
I give the rest of the healers in our raid anxiety because I’ll always be chilling at low hp, knowing that I’ll Pot or Health Stone if I get low. Meanwhile, I’m hitting Life Cocoon and all the heals ever on our melee DPS that like to greed every single GCD and pop -nothing- to survive.
Hi Jak - looks like your cell not only shows the icon of the incoming spell, but has a dashed glowing border around the entire frame - how'd you do that latter part? Thanks for this VOD!
@@AutomaticJak you're right - I found it. You must have "Glow Type" set to "Pixel" for the Targeted Spells indicator - mine was set to "None" by default.
I'm having an issue with Omnicd and Elvui partyframes. Whenever i use my chars partyframe health bar doesn't update, like if i put a HoT on myself it takes like 10 secs to show up on the party frame. Same with my health going up and down, it's like my health bar on the party frame is lagging behind by like 10-15secs. The other party members health bars don't lag though they work as they should. Curious if anybody else had this issue and has a fix for it.
This seems like a hot take but, the M+ system is in need of an overhaul because it just sucks to be apart of it. Now if you have a group to play with then its moot. But Blizz needs to take a closer look and fix the issues like depletion or make people get a debuff where they can't sign up for more groups if they leave. They need to bring down a hammer and actually take responsibility for this mess.
Anyone here playing mistweaver? It is litterally god tier being slept on for sure. The HPS I can put up is sp far ahead of any healer iv played it almost feels broken and no one has talked about it.
Plenty of people play MW, including me. It's not some sleeper god tier. It is great in keys up to a certain point, but after that, other healers are just way more preferred for the utility they bring or group defensive. I am glad you are enjoying it, though.
It's good for 2-11s. In 12s and above ur HPS does nothing. U don't have any damage reduction (single target or aoe). Some things are unhealable without help from DPS specs (like dk's AMZ). Also u suffer from melee meta. Usually there're 4 melee in party including tank, so there's no room for fistweaving Hit 2750 io as MW and put it on the shelf. Awful experience. For casual 10s weekly no leavers spec is ok. U want to try hard especially in pug - forget about MW As for me, i'm going to lvl up rshaman or disc to hit 3k io
In a PUG omnicd is almost useless for tracking interrupts and defensives because nobody uses them anyway.... and if they do it's usually random and wrong
I almost exclusively heal pugs. I believe that made me a better healer. I am a Shield forged in the flames of incompetence! My steel is battered and bruised but each missed kick each cast that went through made it harder.
you actually have to go to the link listed alongside "UI" in the description, then navigate through his website to the UI section and then you can find all his profiles
Ok i must have addon to track while DDs can not play lol No no and again no . When the DDs are to stupid i let he die . Is me wayne when the key depleted
I check the heal pugs guide to learn how to heal my friends better
God so true
Same
tis what I am doing right as we speak

I'm not a healer but my brain really enjoys these in-depth videos, keep up the great work sir!
I love your videos have been playing healer for 12 years and idk why but healing pugs still makes me nervous. But your videos help :)
I was today years old when I learned that PUG stood for Pick Up Group. Crazy
Same haha
😂you thought it was named after the dog or what?
Always putting out great knowledge, thank you sir.
You bet gamer

It’s under UI
Had the same question! 🙋🏻♀️
Ask and you shall receive. Exactly the type of video I wanted so thank you.

This helped me find it. I was looking for a WA but it is an addon
the weakaura is linked in the description
Great idea for a video mate!
Thanks big dawg!

Great video Jak! I was wondering: are there any other healing class guides coming up soon?
Might do a monk video, not sure!
@AutomaticJak Nice! Are Resto druids viable at all?
yeah plenty viable, I personally just dont enjoy the playstyle atm
@@AutomaticJak Great, thanks for the responses and the info!

very informative ty
Glad it was helpful!
The cooldown counter @6:58, is that normal or an addon?
cell after jaks recommendation made me increase the keys i find okay in pugs (boring in premade ) from 7 in dragonflight to 9 in tww

would you mind telling me whats the version of the targeted spell you use please , i can't find it
Its in the description and explained in the video :)
You use omnicd in pugs so you see what cds people could use while you struggle to keep them alive
Hi Jak - looks like your cell not only shows the icon of the incoming spell, but has a dashed glowing border around the entire frame - how'd you do that latter part? Thanks for this VOD!
Think its all the same thing

TBH i think the voice addon for dbm or we you use is huge when the AoE call comes i prepare for massive group damage its that easy

how do you setup omni cd with cell, i installed it but its not showing up
Go to dungeons and then positions and make sure cell is set to anchor to it

Healing a pug is like riding a motorcycle in traffic. Always assume that the others are idiots. Most times they are.
You heal the target who uses their CD's. The one who doesn't needs to learn the lesson.
Healers can control the groups good
where is the omnicd link or code
Right under the targeted spells wa in the description
8:50
boomkins can be mostly miss XD
the amount requires for you to pug ur weekly 10+ = preparing freaking PHD for fuckj sake
I heal 10s with 4 people half watching Jak on stream. It’s not hard it’s just repetition
Boomies caught a stray
Check if you got russian players, and leave before the key start.
Ragnaros. Nemesis. Azralon. Avoid. Been the same way for 15 years
"As a priest slamming your rapture shields" Sad holy priest noises
Or precasting heals!
How to play game:
Download a bunch of addons.
Great guide 🤣
Also the only CDs I track on OmniCD are tank defensives for my Healer and Healing CDs on my Tank, the Rest is useless.
