I swapped to Farseer a while ago, and can't go back to Totemic now. It feels a lot more fun and honestly like you just have a bigger toolkit compared to Totemic. The ST healing capabilities of Farseer feel like a must to me now.
Great video Jak! I’ve been waiting for this one because I love farseer. It feels great, and the new talent is good. Stacking haste and 4 ancestors and a huge chain lightning/heal just hits the spot. That’s also how I make healing rain useful, only use it with ancestors for a chain heal.
I only played farseer until I felt how surging totem chain heal does so much for so little. It feels like a cd and I even manage mana better now, I hate coudburst too :(
Hell yes, I’ve been waiting for this video! I’m so bored with totemic and I’ve been loving Farseer. Yeah, other totem shamans in the guild are doing better on the logs, but I’m actually having fun again.
Nice to see it's working out. I'm a Totemic guy but happy there's 2 viable options ! I love instant and... 24 second lasting healing raids myself! :P (plus the whole chain heal stuff :P )
One decent thing with Farsi is you can skip Echo and get two stacks with 5% extra buff from the hero talent. You rarely use all 3 stacks of LvB or Riptide imo.
The cast time + length of Healing Rain makes Farseer feel so terrible to play and the damage doesn't feel much higher than Totemic despite having to press 10x the amount of buttons. If I'm pressing all those buttons I'd rather just play my Disc Priest.
When I'm playing Farseer I just don't cast healing rain all that often unless I know I need good clumped up healing. It's literally more efficient damage-wise to just cast chain lightning. It feels so freeing not having to maintain my little puddle all the time.
@@raechu_01210 i haven't tested it but in a pull where you have to heal you won't be casting chain lightning so acid rain will be doing damage when you can't swell. Also, since NS is 30 sec cd and gives you an ancestor. Why not ns acid rain to get an instant one? You'll make use of ancestor proc on pull anyways
@@hugoR0392 This is what I have been doing. I primarily use NS on rain so it is instant. I'm not sure if I'm wasting it, but it makes using rain a lot more tolerable.
At one point I heard there was a bug where ancestors would dump single target healing at pets and therefore you'd lose out on it especially with demolock where there are lots of pets. Is this the case?
Great vid Jack! Question, with ascendency and big aoe damage incoming, do you pre press it so you have the buff ready and don’t have the GCD lock before healing or do you try and use the aoe heal on proc i.e. you wait to press until the dam goes out?
I’ve been running a version of this build where you don’t cast Healing Rain at all. It feels pretty low impact in this build to me, but I also hate hard casting that spell.
Yeah I tried it too. Feels like it works well sometimes and I miss it other times. Really hope they do something to improve the feel of rain in farseer setups
I've been trying Farseer for the first time this week, and I can't figure out why I'd ever want to cast Healing Rain other than for Acid Raid. The Healing it does over 8 seconds feels really mediocre, and downpour is fine but not crazy good compared to other buttons I could be pressing. Just doing 12s, so nothing bleeding edge, but it kind of seems like a spell I just don't need and I'm confused as to why the guide mentions it and why a lot of the comments on this video bring it up as something that is important.
You untalent acid rain and all healing rain talents and just don’t cast it unless people are clumped and standing still which is almost never. You just spend that time on chain lightning instead. At least that’s what a lot of Farseers do. You get the very minimal Deluge boost from your spread riptides anyway. It’s just that Jack’s focus and confidence brute forces him through even slightly less efficient decisions.
I have a question about Farseer playstyle. I feel like I can't spread riptides on my team without overcapping on tidal waves stacks. Should I be letting them overcap or should I be trying really hard to weave in surges and chains in between my riptides like with totemic?
Comparing those two is pretty unfair. These players are the best in the world. When you get to higher keys, players don’t get to blunder, you just die when you get hit by anything avoidable. In 8s players will never care about what they get hit with because it doesn’t kill them majority of the time.
@@xd.mosthated yeah you are right but as a tank at least you watch you healers CDs before you do massive pull. I dont even want to make comments about ranged dps. They are DPSing from narnia and wait for heal.
@@AlpiFirat I would be thoroughly impressed if anyone under a 10 is tracking CDs (even their own, especially defensive CDs). The only way to get better players is to play higher keys. I agree it’s definitely infuriating to play as a healer and to see players not using defensives, fall over and just blame healer..but that’s a tale as old as WoW itself.
Yeah u can't really dps that much in lower keys. Fortunately healer dps doesn't even matter until later keys anyway, you'll rarely deplete a key because your healer dps was too low.
Far seer is great, been really enjoying playing it as well, I have been prefering just using healing stream as it's much easier to use and the shorter cd means you can get more ancestor chain heals from it which is nice. Mostly been playing without the healing rain stuff unless it's a full melee group as in pugs it can be hard to get good value out of it compared to the larger, longer duration, instant cast and movable healing rain from totemic.
I really hate cbt, it feels like such a fake healing button. By the time I've stockpiled a significant amount of healing I've already healed everyone up and it just overheals
@@AutomaticJak how much healing should you expect to go into a cbt for it to be worth it? When I tried it, I could only pump about 4 million into it before it burst. Is that average? way too little? I can't find literature on the topic.
CBT either trivializes pulsing AOE healing checks or you mess up the timing and are punished. There is a cloudburst efficiency weak aura that will let you know when you get to ~90% stored efficiency vs current party health and that’s your cue to swap to damage. Still it won’t be very effective unless you understand trash and boss damage timings better. Keep in mind that for Totemic the Reactivity hero talent is bugged and causing Healing Stream Totem to heal a second target at 100% effectiveness instead of the stated 50%. Farseer doesn’t have Reactivity as a hero talent so their HST are much weaker. Even more reason to go CBT.
The highest Keys are still done by totemic rsham... Instant HR is so much better and you can cast much more CL because you dont have to waste globals on Healing Surge... ;) Healing Stream is actually better performing than cloudburst especially with totemic. :D
Having to use an additional spell on a already spell heavy specc + not having instant healing rain and not having the extra chain heals just doesn't do it for me I am glad someone finds joy in it though
not a huge fan of reactive warding.. would rather take DRE honestly... i dont think it really heals that much on the tank when earth shield stacks drop to 1-3 stacks.. also I usually throw earth shield on a rogue or some other class that takes a lot of dmg (or the worst player in the group).
I just think that the dps are very close to each other, could be cooler if one hero was a bit higher than the other... But as always mate great video 👍
