I've heard both versions of this song. The one with the harmonica and the one with the saxophone as heard here. I prefer this one with the saxophone. It sounds much better here. It underscores the romantic feeling.
Was it Toots on the harmonica here???? Did a great job on many recordings, especially the instrumental version of the the Sesame Street theme, Velas on Quincy Jones "The Dude" album, and Leave A Tender Moment Alone with Billy Joel.
Love this 80s style. I smelled the parfums, saw the lights and environment at that time, and it was definitely different. Even people were different in the 80s. I wish I could back the 80s, being trapped there and never return to this time.
Yes, ABSOLUTELY!! I'd give anything to stay in the 80's unlike the toxic environment in 2024 and all over 1 man in Donald Trump of all people to get this many people on the Left worked up and it's absurd
Ikr..this show made me stay up past my bed time..as a kid ..7 or 8 at da time..limos, palm trees, benz's sexy women all made me wanna move to LA as kid..im 44 now ..mad memories
One of the greatest theme songs ever for a great show between 2 perfectly matched characters. Cybill Shepard at her peak was right up there with Grace Kelly, or any others you could think of, what a beautiful woman.
This version of the theme was introduced during season 4 and was used until the show was cancelled in season 5. This video has footage from seasons 1-4 with some coming from the pilot. Rest in Peace Al Jarreau rest in peace.
I remember going to a bar that had a projector tv, and all they showed was MTV, picked up by satellite. Sat and watched it for hours on end. The 80's were glorious.
Moonlighting 85-89 the same as the greatest era of my life.85 the heart of it but 87 awesome and 89 the pinnacle.Cool voice by Al love it seems like it was yesterday dam time getting old suxs hard to believe flawless would have said no way the 80s are coming into it's 40s gosh scary yikes i could go on to be blessed and part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s
I’m watching Moonlighting on Hulu 7/24/24 Cybill Shepherd, 73, uses a cane now she rear appearance she was walking her dogs in Los Angeles... she admitted she had a crush on Moonlighting co-star Bruce Willis. She was alone by a long yard.

OMG! I've never seen this video of " Moonlighting"!! Love Al Jarreau; RIHP Great Jazz & Romance King!
I was very fortunate to see Al Jarreau five times. Best concerts ever, he was a fabulous performer!
Ahh, just appreciate the good times of the 80's . They were fun while they lasted.
Cybill Shepherd was a goddess. I was 15 when Moonlighting came out and I remember thinking she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.
Many just looked at Bruce Willis for being the coolest dude on the planet , but i only looked at Cybil .she was my big crush.
You need glasses I've seen way better looking I don't agree

Oh yes im agree with you. The best version is the one with saxophone❤
I've been seriously and desperately seeking the Saxophone version...
It's the one I grew up with.

Great show, awesome intro. I'm so proud of those days, when we enjoyed life together...
Good times
I used to love this song as intro, which made me love sitcoms and soundtracks ❤❤❤

I second that emotion. L.A. in the 80's was popping.

Written by the late Al Jarreau. He regretted not having the 2nd version on his album L is for Lovers. Produced by Nile Rodgers.
RIP Al Jarreau.
Al Jarreau was a Jazz singer at heart. Did not want to be a mega pop star.
Nile was the EP, he was the one who decided to not put it on the album.

LYRICS (YEAR 1987):
Some walk by night
Some fly by day
Nothing could change you
Set and sure of the way
Charming and bright
Laughing and gay
I'm just a stranger
Love the Blues and the Braves
There is the sun and moon
They sing their own sweet tune
Watch them when dawn is due
Sharing one space
Some walk by night
Some fly by day
Something is sweeter
When you meet 'long the way
We'll walk by night
We'll fly by day
Moonlighting strangers
Who just met on the way
We'll walk by night
We'll fly by day
Moonlighting strangers
Who just met on the way
Who just met on the way
Who just met on the way

There are 3 mixes.

I always thought Gerald Albright played the sax solo on this - not Tony Orlando . . . 😛
