      @@johndee759 the thing that makes it even more epic is that he said it in English. I think he would have had a way more detailed response in Japanese but he wanted to connect with everyone during that epic moment.

      @@gundamxzero3 exactly and that is what we English speakers love about this moment. Gootecks kept on pushing him to say something in Japanese. Tokido the genius seized the moment and said fighting games is something so great. Hopefully we’ll have a English speaker win EVO Japan and say some legendary words in Japanese. My parents taught me as long as you can communicate to the listeners what you want to say then you don’t need to worry about your accent. So don’t be shy make as many mistakes as you can when learning a new language.

    perfect example of momentum swinging its amazing how it happens and happens in every competivie sport when one is confident they are in the lead it can possibly lead to a monumentual slip up and if the other capitalises on the mistake it takes the wind out of the sail of the aggresor who previously looked comfortable, and then you see how they start to doubt themselves and change thier playstyle to ineffective desperation and the opponent who was once on the ropes is now in command, this is the type of stuff competitions are made for.

    Bro I saw this with Justin Wong commentary, it was insane. I never was so hyped up with this matches, i was sure Kotaka got this, but Mr. Perfect Attendance and his Bison (or Vega in Japan) got something different and the moment he started to believe everything changes. Can't wait for next year. And the Puyo Puyo Tetris was godlike too, or God slayer. Thanks for the translation and thanks Lord Daigo for this event 🙌

      On a slightly unrelated note, can we all appreciate how awesome it is that despite the confusing Bison in the USA and Vega in Japan thing, everyone knows how the character is when you just call him ‘Dictator’. What a cool way to solve what would have been a confusing naming situation between eastern and western Street Fighter fans.

    0:50 not a guile expert here but i find it hard to time vs other characters with the same combo. if you miss a fraction of the timing, it gets blocked. better to use the light punch/kick as filler to somersault. however, it is really amazing how badly he failed here where he should not have executed the somersault

    The mental damage Kotaka took from that choke wasn't something that could be recovered from in the remaining rounds. Totally understandable why he took it harder than Tokido took his loss to Daigo in KM1.

      that's a standing jab (light punch), anyway you have to do the jab almost at the same time you execute the move for the flash kick ( charge down / then up +any kick) you have to press jab and inmediately the kick

      Best way to think about it is to release the stick mid motion of the flash kick (should be neutral), hit LP, hit up, LK. Eventually, you can time the punch right mid motion without releasing the stick.

      They originally wanted to call Balrog Mike Bison, but didn't do to legal issues. So they decided to make changes to the names in the western countries
      Claw = Balrog(JP) / Vega(US)
      Boxer = Bison(JP) / Balrog(US)
      Dictator = Vega(JP) / Bison(US)

    I hear that. I’ll be playin until I die too it’s such a great game. Not a perfect game but what is? It’s chess on screen in motion with avatars and those turns are being taken in split seconds simultaneously. Great match he lost confidence and momentum and that cost him the title ST is really blood sport you gotta have that murderous intent when you see blood 🩸 go in apply pressure and don’t let up expose and exploit any and all weakness show no mercy. I love this game lol

      @@jakemuller8626 id have to rewarch to find the exact moment but he had shoten dead to rights a round and went for the weakest punish instead of his usual optimal ones. And it left shoten alive

But that's not a drop combo, that's not optimal punishment, he went for a different way, that's all, probably looking for a setup, these guys brains don't work like normal people, they see the game way ahead of us and they take decisions in no time.

    This matchup is 7/3 for guile, for this dictator to win it shows how better a player he is.
    Just got lucky once. The rest was all experience and skill beyond the guile player.

      I dont think it is 7/3. If dictator can stand in the range of his s.mk, then it goes to dictator's favor. The overall match up is about 4.5/5.5 since dictator does not have anything against sonicboom, but once he gets a chance he can gurantee to one-combo stun guile. The matchup is not that bad.

      Yeah it's kinda confusing, but it's Vega in the Japanese version and Bison in the English one. While _"Vega"_ is known as Balrog in the Japanese version.
