Not usually that drawn to brooks, but the hyperion max really got my attention, so I'm quite excited to see the Elite 4 review when you manage to get your hands on some. Also I think that infinity run looks like a pretty cool casual if it drops in price!!!
Plenty of excellent bricks on offer here it seems. Ultrafly seems particularly curious - a race shoe designed for wide footed ultra trail runners with little mud around I would think.
@TimGrose I really want to try the Ultrafly as it' s a Nike Carbon shoe so it's almost obligatory lol. But use case for me would be intervals on a gravel track. 250€ is a bit much for such a niche use case haha. So will wait for some discounts. Those will come eventually
@@robin29991 yeah of course it is tempting but got to think Adios 8 for the win in that use case. Sounds like about half the price and half the weight too. That said I wonder if a shoe designed for elites to race 100 mile ultra trail races is also going to good for likes of us banging out short intervals on firm gravel sufaces without too much if any ground feel.
Another Carbon plated squishy “trail” shoe- maybe ultra-est of the ultra elites can handle it, but we mortals are probably safer running with scissors in our hands and more stable shoes on our feet.
If the Hyperion Elite 4 uses a foam formula more like the Aurora prototype, it will be awesome. I got to try that shoe and it was an impressively bouncy, fun midsole ride. Look forward to the testing report. I hope Brooks finally gets this one right. Their uppers are almost always high quality and comfortable.
Brooks would on occasion come to my high school track invitational meets 30 plus years ago and I remember getting a cool “mad dog” poster from them. They are pushed hard in “Fleet Feet” stores especially for new runners in the U.S. Go to any race 5K/10K in the U.S. and the next most common shoe after Nike is Brooks. They are owned by Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway..I still like them.
Good on you for reviewing the Brooks when it comes out, I look forward to it, While I have decided over the last year to support my local running stores (use them or lose them) , I still have a great intrest in what the community has to say when it comes to new shoe's , I was one of those shocked/pleased by the dependability of the Ghost 15 after hearing non flatering reviews, Yes possibly a very beige shoe, but at least Brooks do not put out stinkers like the zoomfly 4 or Addistar (and a host of other crap shoes at inflated prices on the back of superstar shoes by the same manufacturers ) . The Hyperion max is a shoe gem ,I can reach the same paces I can in my supershoes , but as the miles increase they make my legs work a little harder which is ideal for a tempo / intervals 'trainer'. My coach has indicated the Max could be used as a race shoe , and yes it possibly could but as a dense 87kg 54 year old hobby jogger , I find the reduced fatigue from peba(x) + plates a little easier on the body in a race. (I did two 15 milers long runs recently with MP middle sections) one in the endorphin pro 3 and one in my new shiny hyperion max's .. both held sub 8/low 7's easily , (the max a little quicker when my mind zones out) but ... getting on with my house chores when I got back in was easier after the bouncy pro 3's were used. ok Waffle finished.
I think that influence is a dangerous thing to a degree. I try and look objectively at each shoe and see what could be gathered by various runners rather than me. One thing is for sure that the most expensive shoe is almost always not the best.
@@EDDBUD Yep. Also, people think they’re boring because they’re consistent. Consistency doesn’t equate to boring. Consistency equals consistency! (Also the Glycerin 20 is a BANGER.)
Come down to Cornwall, you'll soon see there's quite a few of us down this way, thanks to that lovely coastline 🤪 These shoes won't hold up to an ultra, upper looks weak and the sole would be cushioned enough, my hoka tecton x at 249g would destroy them, not to mention they're carbon plated. That Brooks Hyperion looks stunning, I'm definitely interested in trying a pair 🥰
Haven’t heard any songs from Johnny Rivers for years. Immediately went to Spotify and downloaded greatest hits album from him. As you said he does great covers even when he plays same songs as Chuck Berry and in my opinion Chuck Berry is the true King of Rock&Roll! Oh yeah good video.
I'm glad you are on the improve Edd. I hope the Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 isn't too expensive. I'm glad you will be testing them as I look forward to your opinion. I can understand why you gave Nays to the other 3. Though the Ultrafly might be interesting as a road to light trail shoe rather than as an out and out trail shoe. Virgin ZoomX, nice traction but not too aggressive, Vaporweave upper with a seemingly wide toe box, probably relatively lightweight too. I think it could fit the bill for a lot of runs where you have to go part road, part loose gravel, grass, trail. Please reconsider as a Yay?
Highly recommend the 2008 documentary about The Wrecking Crew (Capitol, not Motown but hey, glad you're on the mend). Looking forward to the Brooks HE review.
glad you're feeling better. There's light at the end of the tunnel I assure you; your kid will get old go off to college and bring back more adult-familiar illnesses (ours is at Hertfordshire and only comes back to Merkuh for the Summers, when these bugs are all but gone). The Nike Ultrafly is puzzling. As you say, the upper doesn't appear to be a "trail" shoe, as there are no visible means to keep your foot from sliding off the midsole on side-slopes. Carbon plate? Why?! Another Nike trail shoe I'll ignore.
Always said this Edd about the Ultrafly… if you are doing trails then it has to be inov8 all the way especially ultra marathons.. it does however appeal for a road to light trail shoe… Maybe even for those harsher months on road but certainly not fell/trail terrain. Still was hoping you’d pick it up for a review. 😂
Ultrafly is the shoe of the year 23. Only thing is that it has to small lugs. I'll buy Ultrafly in some different colorway, and I know I will use it for most of the time for eveything, local hiking and trail training 10km and for trail races. I love Zegama softness of ZoomX so Ultrafly is a big win for me! O and 8mm drop in Ultrafly is much better then Zegamas 4mm drop, so double win win 👍😁
Yeah, that would be four nays for me. I mean, the Brooks HE4 would have my attention, but that DNA Flash upgrade would have to be something really special in order to compete with the other supershoes at that price point.
‘No idea what adidas had in mind with the Switch Fwd. The 4D FWD wasn’t heavy enough? It’s another take on the same concept with worse results - at least part of the midsole is 3D molded. I’m not in the market for any of the runners in this Yea or Nay. Thanks for covering the shoes. ✌🏽💙👟
Adidas is trying to bring back that Spring Blade style they had years back. I agree about the Ultraflys. Strange they would nuke the Vibram. Looking forward to my Saucony Rifts, I ordered.
