I love the subtlety of how she the older sister is protecting her younger sister from all those doors because she sees how much not having a door affected and hurt her little sister and still hurts her to this day. That scene where there's the whole line of doors and she's getting ready to just pound all of them for her sister is amazing. I have a big sister like that and it just really shows you what that older sibling younger sibling bond is supposed to be like.
Awesome interpretation. I didn't pick up on that and I've seen the movie like 5 times!
200th like
Also, the line, “The ship doesn’t swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is” with the ship being the family and how they don’t pay attention, and instead send others to do it for them.
I love how she protect her being super strong but then when mirabele's glasses fall off she ajust it being super delicated!
I am currently in therapy for PTSD. When I heard this song it hit me so hard I cried. That song really spoke to my role not only in my own family but just what it's like to try and remain strong despite my problems because my family depends on me. The eldest. I really like how songs like this are shedding light on mental health.
It hit home hard for me for similar reasons. I bawled my eyes out when I heard it. I hope you're doing well on your journey.
We have to heal many things, specially during this pandemics. I'm glad that a lot of people are having the chance to think about it and realize they have to heal. Hugs from Colombia ❤
You look menacing with all those tattoos but you're the person to accidently steal a pencil and return it 😂 great video btw 😍
I’m a soft bear 🤣❤️ but when triggered I am an angry bear 🤣
@@Bayotherapper 😂
@@Bayotherapper I love bears though hehehe
Fun fact: Luisa is actually the middle child. Isabella is the oldest, and Mirabel is the youngest. Isabella has her own set of problems, since she is considered perfect because of her gift, and is seen as delicate as the flowers she makes, and therefore has a whole different issue. Luisa, who was given a gift that made her super strong, is expected to be the tough one. The one that can take it all. So while I wouldnt call this a song about the oldest child taking on the responsibility, it definitely resonates with that
Hits hard for breadwinners. I'm a middle child and i can relate so much this song made me cry a lot
It may not be a song about the eldest taking the responsibility, but more of the responsibility we middle children wind up having in our laps once our older sibling is moving on to the next major stage of their life. We don't entirely know what we're doing; we just know that we're told to look after and protect our younger sibling. Usually, the only other model we had to go off of is our elder sibling, but without them as a guide or shield, we're left with a completely different set of shoes to fill.
This hits harder if one's childhood wasn't exactly a pleasant one, as some of the dangers we'd wind up trying to protect our younger sibling from winds up being within the household. There is little to no time or space to explore who we are when we're busy with this sort of role.
I'm a middle child... And I am the one who doesn't say what I think, who restrain herself to complain because my older sister complain a lot and somehow parents are more comprehensive with the older one, the younger one will be childish for long time... So I tried not to put much burden on my parents but I realized that if I told my problems to my parents they would always support me, and I realized of that at a young age... So, I kept that character of trying to be calm and advise my younger and older siblings... I'm also a human and explote some times but as long as we keep supporting ourselves, things will improve
Luisa flexing in the beginning and everybody is like "Oh, dear, so intimidating."
Me: "God, damn, that is a sexy pose!" O,O
Also, the line, “The ship doesn’t swerve as it heard how big the iceberg is” with the ship being the family and how they don’t pay attention, and instead send others to do it for them. In the scene where she gets crushed by the house, it seems that she sees that Mirabel is scared and pretends to be stronger, which shows her ‘older sister’ duties in how she really cares for her family. She also dances and other things after to cheer Mirabel up.
I really like your reaction and commentary! It's nice to see someone who's actually interested and knows what the song is portraying. Also your voice is very relaxing lol.
Haha thank you so much ❤️
yah majority don't listen to the lyrics
@@mindurslide ikr
yes!!! I would love to hear him in a podcast
@@Bayotherapper under the surface, reminds of the songs from "Hamilton" go watch an react to some of those songs, you'll enjoy them as much I have
Notice how the donkeys are also a great addition to this scene with this character as it represents the big amount of weight donkeys are being used to lift. She also carries too much on her shoulders..
I was eldest sibling in our asian family... the worker, the organizer, the most responsible, the adviser and the person they see as a mentally healthy anchor.
But recently, something very bad happened to me, caused me to loose every strength I had... Doctor diagnosed me with PTSD and depression. I felt so weak and had no worth. Blamed everything on myself...
I took anti-depressant when no one else knew, Not even my own siblings.
But I continued to project that strong facade for my family while trying to do therapy.. Bec that time, I was reviewing on my Board exam, they expect me to pass with high grades but I failed badly because I was mentally unstable... I felt their disappointment... they dont know the real reason. I lied to them that I am still okay. That Pressure continues to grow inside me... I am measuring my own pressure because of expectations from others. Little more and I will blow up.
I did not have the strength to be too open cause I feel that the time when they knew that im so broken, I would be of to no use...
Watching and hearing the song "Surface Pressure" hit me in such a way that it broke me that night, every beat built my anxiety inside.
The movie is very triggering and healing at the same time... And watching this encouraged me to talk to my family about everything that is happening to me. I want to fight this battle with them... Not alone...
Thank you for reacting into this song!
I love you ❤️
@@Bayotherapper ❤️❤️❤️
I legit got this song stuck in my head and have been randomly humming/singing it for the last 24 hours
Her voice is so heavy, it dips low it hardens the R’s it’s absolutely not what you’re expecting and it’s one of my favorite songs in the movie.
First I felt this way because I was the first-born and the oldest brother. Now I feel this way as a father, husband, and breadwinner. LMM is an expert at understanding how and why people feel and translating it to music.
It's refreshing to see someone who actually understands and pays attention to what she's actually saying in the song and how it's quite literally a cry for help, rather than just spending the whole time being like "wow she's strong (repeated exactly 10 TRILLION times), also haha donkeys, yes dance off moment go queen" like this is a really deep song, it's nice to see someone who actually pays attention to that
Loved this reaction. This was my favourite song in the movie and just like you I think of mental health.
A good one Bayo 💛
Thank you so much! I loved it! ❤️
Mom and dad arnt always the strongest
I can relate to this song so much... I sing it about a week now. Thanks for your reaction!
Thank you so much ❤️
parents and older siblings (specifically older sisters) who get made into mini parents and have to both keep younger siblings in line and protected and be there for the parents to lean on, it's tough
Encanto is inspired by the clothes, the food, the fauna and landscapes in Colombia South Amerika and the magical culture of Colombia. I really liked your reaction
Even as an only child I find this very relatable, as I’m very much the “strong older sibling” of my friend group :’)
I love the detail that through the whole song Luisa is acting like Mirabel's protector. Getting between the threats and her, holding onto her in various ways, and that cute little gesture of making sure when they land after jumping from the boat to fix her glasses for her. The expression of Mirabel as well when it gets to the scene where the big slabs of rock are falling onto Luisa the sheer look of horror when she realizes just how much her sister is carrying. There was also a theory I heard that I agree with, that Luisa is the only one in the family that truly gets taken advantage of. Who else do you see keep getting called on by the town? Certainly their Mother is busy making sure the injured are tended to. But Luisa is always being called on to round up donkeys, fix houses, move churches, reroute the river, move that heavy thing from point a to point b. Do we ever see anyone thank her? No its Luisa this needs getting done and with the Grandma saying this is what our miracle is for, she could never say no because she thought she didn't have the right to. It took Mirabel to realize how stressed she was and convince her that it was okay to rest and not carry so much.
I love how Ur voice is like whispering. It made me smile :)
Thank you so much ❤️
You're very observant, i loved this reaction so i'll subscribe!
Thank you so much ❤️
Nice to see someone who makes a commentary that's more than just wow or whoa to things, and actually comments on the lyrics
Thank you so much ❤️
Fun fact: the scenario at the end where Luisa is dancing is a hat called "Sombrero vueltiao" from Caribbean coast in Colombia 😬
i think this song speaks for all the older sisters and what role they are usually given in the family!!
Finally someone who knows what's talking about!!!
🎉❤️
I need to go watch this movie again. My thought when I first heard this song was how she thought her only worth was in her magic and her strength, and how sad that was. Mental health indeed.
I agree so much Jennifer! I think I need to watch it again too! ❤️
The song is about how much pressure does the older sibling is taking care of everyone and trying to do what is expected of them for the whole family
I suppose there is many things the song could be about 😁
Oldest sibling here, and the pressure is tough. I was both the strong one and the perfect one. Luckily the "big sister" portion of my duties were awesome, my younger brother is the best brother ever!
Keep in mind, you say that the parents take the most weight, but older siblings take a lot of the weight too because we're taking care of our siblings, and trying to support our parents as we get older, and handling everyone's expectations both real and perceived.
Older siblings take care of their younger siblings?
Can I be adopted by your family?
I'm the youngest and all I get is drama and pushed aside and preached at for why I can't be LGBTQIA+
Love you voice you sound so calm
Thank you so much ❤️
This song honestly represents how men feel as father's or husbands we must be strong and protect our family and never crack or break and risk our people getting hurt. We want to protect our people with all our power and will suffer so they dont
I guess if you want to segregate by sex and de-center a woman when the entire point of the song is centering a woman who is a protector and whom any human may relate to . . . that's your prerogative; it's a weakness, though, and you can do better than this
I feel like parents frequently feel like this as well, especially single parents 😊
Him: “The mom and dad could relate to this a lot”
Me: “Well, what if they’re the ones always fighting and both of my siblings have already moved out before the arguing started?”
Note: btw he actually made a really good point for common scenarios and honestly my parents could think that too but I would never know
Thank you so much ❤️
This song is one of my favorites and Luisa is a goddess. Thanks for the video; subscribed.
Thank you so much ❤️
Female Atlas/Hercules in one person.
I'm strong I don't flinch
Any weight for me is quiet
Comes with everything, I can handle it
And no one will deny my talent
I don't question if it's heavy
my body bears the burden
If they give me steel I'll tread
With the strength of my arms I make shrapnel
but i'm nervous
And anxious on a tightrope I follow cautious
I am nervous
Like a hero who got tired in a horrible fight
I am nervous
If I'm not generous I feel idle
I can't get tired, I can't fail
will I break? what makes me break?
The pressure is like a tik-tik-tik that won't stop, oh
tik-tik-k pressure ready to burst, oh, oh, oh
send it to Luisa, she is older
everything that weighs too much goes to her
I'm nothing if take my gift away
The pressure, it's so much around here that, that, that, it's already stressed me out, oh
And the pressure makes tik-tik-tik, my limit has reached, oh, oh, oh
send it to Luisa, the stout
No matter the weight, Luisa can handle it
I'm nothing if I take my gift, I dismount
I am nervous
I get so anxious, but I try to pretend I'm brave
I am nervous
The threat is angry, fatal and silent
I am nervous
I know I'm proud and life is dangerous
The house will fall, I need to act
I use my strength but I don't know how to stop
How about changing the mood and holding the expectation?
I would be so much happier and so much more alive
More lively, not so used
Or pressured, but lack of revolt in the background
the pressure, tik-tik-tik, who doesn't want to stop, oh
The pressure makes tik-tik-tik ready to burst, oh, oh, oh
send it to Luisa, she shines
She is the most powerful in the family
It might even hurt, but don't say no
The pressure is so much around here that, that, that, I don't know who I am anymore, oh
And the pressure makes tik-tik-tik, my limit is over, oh, oh, oh
Who has Luisa doesn't regret
Make an order and she will go and fulfill
I'm nothing without my function
I follow then
pressure doesn't kill
The part after the door dominos gave me big Adventure Time vibes. Like a verse they would have written for this song.
First time I've ever heard the word hench 🤣
Amazing and indepth reaction. Thank you awesome!! 😄
❤️
“Your mom and dad.”
Lmao mom was spineless and daddy liked beating his kids. Granted he didn’t get to the two year old while I was around.
You give parents way too much credit.
I’m sorry you went through that. There’s many things wrong with life but doesn’t mean I have to mention every one on a reaction. I just keep it positive
Great reaction! Your Fall out Boy reference was spot on! Such a great song with a message that resonates with so many
Thank you so much ❤️
I have to say, you look tough with a all the tats, but the m moment you speak and your eyes… you have such a sweet, kind and positive energy. You are awesome!
aww thank you so so much ❤️
Wow i fall in love😍😍😍😍
Man I love your content
Thank you so so much! ❤️
Now I want to hear this song covered by Fall Out Boy.... damn
Give a shout for all the Altos out there that have the first disney song for them!
I just hate how badly the individual members are like brainwashed into believing they are only their gift. Like from age 5 they are USED and that's it. All for "the good of the enconto." The enchantment. So sad.
💚 greeting from Colombia
Luisa Is my favorite Character ♥️💪🏻
Same 💙💪
When I first heard this song while watching the movie, I thought it was Amanda Palmer singing...
Lol finally I'm not the only one who is reminded of old emo music with this! I thought it had a panic! vibe but fallout boy is closer I think ✌️😊

SUBSCRIBE FOR MORE ENCANTO!
This is my favorite song in this movie. I wasn't personally a huge fan of Encanto--more like I was underwhelmed by it, but it has great music. P.S.: I Always crack up when the donkeys start to dance with Louisa towards the end.
What camera do you use?
Sony a6600 ❤️
I wouldn't say my mom or dad has anything to do with Luisa, maybe a little my father with his work but it's stop there
You want honesty mate ID prolly be her husband lol
yo bost mellow
