A new camera already? I just bought the V1. I'm not one to go out and buy the new west model, just because it is there, i'm sure some people will, but I suspect the upgrades are minimal and I think you cannot expect too much for a budget camera. It is what it is. For the money it is a great camera. Its no GoPro, but it is a decent camera. Thank you d=for the detailed comparison and especially what to expect in regards to colour profile. This is helpful to those you may be considering upgrading or going out and buying the V2 model. Thank-you for the sample footage this will help many decide on which model they prefer. I'm gonna stick with my V1 for now as i do not see a dramatic upgrade in the V2 model. Albert, as usual, this great video. keep making them as they are informative and helpful to the community. Much appreciated.

Runcam keeps improving the Thumb, at this state this camera is pretty good and lightweight.
The picture is way more pink, hopefully they fix this problem in a future firmware.
For me the V1 camera seems to be more blurry in the background, but with the V2 the camera is darker.
The higher FOV is better with gyroflow as you said.

In terms of color, i think i like the V1 better, looks more realistic. The v2's color is a little redish, as you said. Good job releasing this video so early, great review!

I gotta say, for the price this little camera gives you pretty good video IMO. For most hobbyists I don't think you can beat it for the price.
There's always that guy who bought some camera at a garage sale that weighs 10g and gives them better video than a $10,000 RED camera and only cost them $5. Of course that doesn't exist! 🤣
I agree the price is what attracted me to it. i'm also looking at the Caddx Walnut. It was previous reviewed by Albert. It is something to consider, but it is in a different price bracket.
the 1.8mm lens mod for the v1 could replace this upgrade unless some new feature is introduced. cool to have the choice tho

I still use and like the v1 for my 3" lr build. Great comparison between the V1 and V2 thumb pro. Agree looks pinky. Great review Albert!!!!

Wider lens tend to have a smaller aperture even in the photography world. Seems counter intuitive but that’s how it is. And the lens is physically smaller compared to the v1 so I’m guessing they pumped up the ISO to compensate. Thanks for this 😎

But with a wider lens you get more light to the sensor...
@@alxgag3 not necessarily, aperture size matters...
@@alxgag3 that’s the natural thought but in reality because of the geometry used in the wider lenses the barrel at the bottom tends to be smaller so all the light gets squeezed down before it exits to the sensor. In photography lenses the wider lenses with wide aperture are far more expensive cause it takes a lot more engineering to achieve this.

Thank's for the comparison Albert, it was really comforting to hear that not all was better... this as I bought the V1 just a month ago & the narrow field of view have irritated me more & more as I use it, so it pissed me off that they released a V2 so soon (yeah, I know... it's really good that they listen & correct :) .
Bought instead a Caddx Turtle V2 (LS106) lens & replaced the original lens... some slight darker corners in 16:9 (4:3 large amounts), made my own lens profile for Gyroflow & the LS106 lens is perfect, only needs around 10-15% lens correction to get rid of the darker corners & the stabilization works really good. The LS106 lens is also sharper & have better contrast/colors than the original... & the original lens cover & ND filters still fits.
I really thank people like you Albert in sharing info like this. It really helps when watching it on a big screen. I'm watching it on a 34-inch monitor. The 4k quality of this Runcam looks like a stretched 1080p. Thank you so much again!
They made a new firmware that reduces the over sharpening.
@@AlbertKimTV oh that's great! I'm just worried about the resolution. It doesn't look like 4k to me. Someone shared a raw 4k he uploaded to Google Drive and I wasn't happy with the resolution

Great review video. Good comparison to the v1 camera. Where I fly the deer aren't afraid of my 5" drone. So used to people and noise I guess.

so the reason why they called it v2 is because it's a different, second version to the thumb pro, not necessarily the new and improved one that is going to replace the v1.
While it was mentioned the firmware is a little different and the sensor is the same. I suspect the minor changes lie in the housing for the lens, thus V2. Like a new animal species need only differ slightly from original to be considered a new species.
The v2 could be an improved camera if they give it a better firmware. We just have to wait.
Those birds appear to be Ganso-do-egito (Alopochen aegyptiaca) . They are a goose family bird.
Strangely, I've not seen them in my area until the last year or two. I wonder where they migrated from??

Just updated to v1.0.4 today. Seems like the magenta color cast is mostly gone but I need to see what this looks like when it's sunny out. Been cloudy all day today.

Hello, what camera do you recommend? Runcam Thumb Pro V2, or Hawkelle Thumb 4K. Thank you.
Both could work depending on your needs which you did not specify. If you're just looking for pure image quality, I like the look of the RunCam more, but other people tell me they like the look of the Hawkeye more, so it's somewhat subjective.
Hey there I have issues with the same cam and gyroflow. My clean flight unstabalized looks better as after I stabilized it. Have you also experienced any issue?
The gyro is sensitive to vibrations from the drone. You have to use a mount that isolates the camera from the drone vibrations.

Now I wanted to experience a bit cinematic and started indoor with my 3 inch and the thumb. If feels like the gyro data from the thumb is broken or useless and I do not know how to fix it. Maybe it is also due indoor is different compared to outoor?
I couldn't get any good footage from the pro v1 - still better footage with the "classic" thumb.
Have you tried putting the footage in gyroflow ?

For the lower bitrate of this camera it doesn't matter for RUclips.
