Sadly I just fire a painter, because he said to all those questions.... Yes, Yes, 3 or more people, over 20 years etc. Yes we do, etc. But in reality everything changes once they have you in the Zach

How beneficial is it for me to purchase my own paint to provide to the paint contractor?

People usually think they save money buying the paint but,
A professional has a contractor discount and can get around a 30% - 50% discount on paint.
My company gives our discounts to our clients, unless your an Asshole, then we make you pay full price.

Not always... it really depends on how much you want to involve yourself in the production of the project. If you do get involved, it can create hiccups in the production which may cost you time and money. However having the contractor manage all aspects of the project ensures your warranty (if any) is secure. Just make sure you get the contractor to give you the exact details of the product they intend to use and follow up to make sure they are being honest. It's common for painters to say they are using X (which expensive) but then do the old switch game and use a less quality product.

Is it okay for a painter to use fans to dry the first coat and then apply the second coat within a short time?

What primer do you recommend for walls? I have decided on Chantilly Lace in Aura. I have light beige walls with some nicks and minor imperfections from the previous apartment owner. So I have to spackle a bit. What primer to you recommend for great smooth coverage before I paint?

If it were me, I would spot prime with the paint you're using, especially if it's aura. If there's a ton to prime, then you can go for something like Fresh Start or Step One.

      Nah
2 coats of paint will do.
Unless you want to go 2 shades lighter or 2 shades darker
Kilz 3 premium primer if your fancy
But kilz original is the one if you want to save money.

A little unrelated to the video, but starting to think about painting cabinets. What primer do you recommend?

Good question! It'll depend on what paint you're using, and what types of cabinets you're painting. Normally the cabinet paint manufacturer will recommend a primer to pair it with. That being said, I use Insl-X Stix as a solid default choice!

@@thepaintpeoplethanks! they're finished but not painted. Been watching a lot of vids and trying to choose between advance and scuff x for the paint

@@phen0mejon99 I would definitely recommend advance over Scuff x for the cabinets! It's an awesome hybrid product that works great in cabinets.

@@thepaintpeople Would you agree that Advance will give a smooth finish, whereas Suffix has a high profile on its finish? Its been my experience.
