Just downsized and moved into a townhouse that is all Edgecomb Gray. I'm not into gray, but I LOVE this color. Trim is Simply White (which at times feels a bit too "primer" for me). This paint color is perfect for those who don't like the cold, stark, and sometimes bland feel of gray walls. I'm not repainting. Note. I get a lot of light.
I'm closing on my first condo soon and I found this channel while I was trying to figure out both how/what to paint my walls. Even when I am done with my painting, I think I will keep watching because listening to you talk about paint is so relaxing
If you want a more subdued white trim color, BM white Dove also looks incredible with edge comb gray. Our kitchen cabinets are white dove and look super nice against the warmth of edgecomb gray.
I have SW EXTRA WHITE on our trim already in our open concept condo. Looking for a neutral that will not look pink or yellow or blue. How does Edgecomb Gray hold up in different lighting? What color is your wood floor?

James, I love your videos, and I learn a lot from you. I wish, however, your visual examples were not so sparse. Please display more of the finished product when explaining the color. It would help us concretely see the paint color on the walls of a home when showing its use in a fully decorated bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, LR, etc. NOT ENOUGH FINISHED ROOM VISUALS. My only criticism.
Agree 100%. Most of my house is Balboa Mist but it wasn't dark or warm enough on my dark Northern facing living room. It looks great with my red oak floors due to its warmer undertones. White dove trim. Looks neutral yet lovely

After putting this in my house it is too light. I have simply white for the ceiling and sometimes I can tale where Edgecomb starts and stops. Especially at night! If you want more contrast I suggest Revere Pewter!

It were a little too cold, so I’m sure he’ll take it back tomorrow must’ve been a add mixed… That’s what I get for not going to Sherwin-Williams store and biz boxing it. If you have a dark North facing home check out Sherwin Williams White Duck. Turns light Gray in the North Blue/Gray light and it looks calm and creamy in bright light rooms. I use this one for staging my listings!

My two picks for my first floor were edgecomb gray or revere pewter. I ended up liking revere pewter only because I preferred it at night. My dining room is off the living room, hallway & kitchen (revere pewter). For a bit of colour & interest I would like to paint the dining room Mount Saint Anne BM CC-710. Really need an opinion. I started with Dusty Miller from the CSP collection but on the wall it turned grey with the furniture. Next I tried November Rain - no luck!. Now I am turning to Revere Pewter, Edgecomb Gray, Balboa Mist or Pal Oak. It is a bedroom and I want warm and inviting, not too light, not too dark. The trim color throughout my house is Mascarpone. Is there any of these colors you would recommend NOT pairing with Mascrapone?

@sarah Schwartz - I had the same situation! After looking at several gray/ greige colors, Edgecomb was the best choice. I really liked Revere Pewter, but it did not work AT ALL with the warmer tones in my woodwork. Samplize offers 12x12 stick on, repositionable paint samples. Good luck!
That is a beautiful color. I’m having trouble deciding what color to use in 100 yr old large farm house. It has wide door frames and baseboards. They are dark walnut. What would you suggest. Would like to keep it lighter in color because it tends to be dark inside. Suggestions please?

Great video. I've been considering painting the inside of my home Edgecomb Gray. I just wasn't sure how it would pair with the white that the builder used for all the trim which I swear sometimes has a pink undertone. I didn't really want to have all the interior doors/trim/base resprayed a different white but I kind of think I might have to.
Edgecomb is pretty versatile so it should be fine. If it's very pink, you could opt for something like Soft Sand on the walls to work with it, but that would be a bolder pick.
@@thepaintpeople Thank you so much for the response. I'm not sure if you've ever seen Kelly-Moore's Bone but that is what I painted the inside of my home a few years ago. It's rather strange in that sometimes it looks like an old bone with a hint of beige but then sometimes it goes gray and it doesn't show up well in pictures. I'm not sure if I would run into the same issue with Edgecomb. As far as the trim goes, I struggle with whites because I'm not a fan of pink, yellow, blue undertones. I'd rather find a "clean/crisp" white.
Hi Tom, Navajo White is a pretty dark color. Paired with the gray, it will look very yellow by comparison which maybe is what you want? What is it you're after with this color pairing?

It is for a playroom for a 10 year old with only 8 foot ceilings but one wall of windows so it is a pretty bright room. We like "warm" or "neutral" colors as "cool" undertones tend to hurt our eyes at night when the lights go on. We would like a LIGHT warm gray - was thinking of Metropolitan after we saw your video or the BM Calm. And really wanted BM Iced Cube Silver but I hear it is a "cool" color - but wondering if it is really "cool" or more neutral? Would love to see a video about Iced Cube Silver. I love the way you explain the warm/neutral/cool aspect! Can you recommend a light gray to go with Surf Blue that would be on 3 walls?
I'll add iced cube Silver to the list! It's a great light gray that leans cool, but doesn't contain toooo much blue. When paired with a much cooler colour, the blue in it will be subdued.
Hi, watching Nick’s and your paint videos I settled for Edgecomb gray for all walls in our new house. Paired with white dove for ceiling and trim. Now I am at a pickle. For the kitchen cabinets I need to use Sherwin Williams, because it is the only place to purchase lacquer in my area. I am looking for a white (neutral) that goes with the above colors. The room is south facing and flooded with light. (BTW: lights will be LED around 3000K). Where do I start looking? Please point me into a direction in this jungle of colors. Thank you 🙏

Have you had a look at something like a BM Chelsea Gray, Kendall Charcoal, or Iron Mountain? Finding a dark gray or black with a bit of warmth would be my approach. :)

As much as I'd love to help you, I have a feeling your interior designer would have better insight as to being physically in the space. I'd be able to provide general opinion on colours, but it really depends on your taste, lighting, decor etc!

Does this "griege" work with marble or marble looking quartz countertops in a bathroom? Looking for options.... I hate the cold hard greys and am not sure I want to paint my bathrooms a beautiful colour like Silver Strand or BM's Quiet Moments. As well, I need to transition the colour in my ensuite to MB to the Shaker Beige in my hallways outside the MB.... HELP!!!! Great idea! A lot of people like both warm and cool colors and I agree the transition can be a challenge. Edgecomb could work, but have you looked at SW Agreeable Gray? And in terms of the ensuite, have you looked at BM White Sand?
Is there 1st floor door color to pair with this with dark hardware? Kind of getting tired of white on white. Using Edgecomb Gray as a main first floor color with SW extra white trim. I kind of want to go darker with the doors but am kind of nervous about pulling the trigger.
Question: if you used edgecomb gray throughout your house as a flat paint, would it work to paint vertical stripes by alternating flat paint with satin finish? I'm thinking of this as a way to separate the dining area from the living area.

It should work, because they're both warm. You could always try it out, and if you don't like the look, then you could adjust the trim for a lighter shade.
I am painting my entire home soon and this is the top colour I found the most nuetral. It is a bit lighter than i am used to, but I don't like the undertones in the darker Revere Pewter. Has anyone seem Edgecomb Grey darkened by 25% or 50%?
It all depends on the company to be honest. But I'm usually good with a lot of the major companies pre-made white paints. They tend to have superior coverage compared to tinted whites, so I don't blame them.
My entire home, including garage, are painted this shade with lighter cabinets and slightly darker countertops. The floors are dark wood look ceramic tiles. It is my intention to try to find an area rug for the open floor plan living room and dining room. Also drapery that is similarly colored. I am using a navy/cobalt color for accent. What do you think?
Better yet.....Valspar's "Woodrow Wilson Putty.....barely contrasting with ceiling white.....chose it because the color of the mortar between the bricks......shouts.......

It's rather strange in that sometimes it looks like an old bone with a hint of beige but then sometimes it goes gray and it doesn't show up well in pictures. I'm not sure if I would run into the same issue with Edgecomb. As far as the trim goes, I struggle with whites because I'm not a fan of pink, yellow, blue undertones. I'd rather find a "clean/crisp" white.
You won't get any crisper than Chantilly Lace!
I have chair railing in my basement and it is well let throughout. Not much natural light coming in. What other gray will complement edgecomb gray?

Hi Tom, Navajo White is a pretty dark color. Paired with the gray, it will look very yellow by comparison which maybe is what you want? What is it you're after with this color pairing?

Thank you so much for all your videos! they are so helpful! I am trying to find a "warm" gray that would match an accent wall painted BM Surf Blue. It is for a playroom for a 10 year old with only 8 foot ceilings but one wall of windows so it is a pretty bright room. We like "warm" or "neutral" colors as "cool" undertones tend to hurt our eyes at night when the lights go on. We would like a LIGHT warm gray - was thinking of Metropolitan after we saw your video or the BM Calm. And really wanted BM Iced Cube Silver but I hear it is a "cool" color - but wondering if it is really "cool" or more neutral? Would love to see a video about Iced Cube Silver. I love the way you explain the warm/neutral/cool aspect! Can you recommend a light gray to go with Surf Blue that would be on 3 walls?
I'll add iced cube Silver to the list! It's a great light gray that leans cool, but doesn't contain toooo much blue. When paired with a much cooler colour, the blue in it will be subdued.
Hi, watching Nick’s and your paint videos I settled for Edgecomb gray for all walls in our new house. Paired with white dove for ceiling and trim. Now I am at a pickle. For the kitchen cabinets I need to use Sherwin Williams, because it is the only place to purchase lacquer in my area. I am looking for a white (neutral) that goes with the above colors. The room is south facing and flooded with light. (BTW: lights will be LED around 3000K). Where do I start looking? Please point me into a direction in this jungle of colors. Thank you 🙏

It may be too late, since gray is on its way out, but I LOVE Dunn Edward's "Muslin." A warm, but modern crisp gray.
I’m trying to find a good neutral color for my powder bathroom, I want to accent the walls using my palm leaf stencil but I’m between this color and Muslin 😬😬😬 colors are tough for me!!

We are using this color in our home. We're wanting to do an accent wall in very dark gray or black but am not sure which would be best.. any suggestions? Right now we've tested peppercorn.
Have you had a look at something like a BM Chelsea Gray, Kendall Charcoal, or Iron Mountain? Finding a dark gray or black with a bit of warmth would be my approach. :)

As much as I'd love to help you, I have a feeling your interior designer would have better insight as to being physically in the space. I'd be able to provide general opinion on colours, but it really depends on your taste, lighting, decor etc!

Does this "griege" work with marble or marble looking quartz countertops in a bathroom? Looking for options.... I hate the cold hard greys and am not sure I want to paint my bathrooms a beautiful colour like Silver Strand or BM's Quiet Moments. As well, I need to transition the colour in my ensuite to MB to the Shaker Beige in my hallways outside the MB.... HELP!!!! I wish you would do a video on how to transition... from cooler coolers to the much warmer colours. ThQ for your lovely videos!!
Great idea! A lot of people like both warm and cool colors and I agree the transition can be a challenge. Edgecomb could work, but have you looked at SW Agreeable Gray? And in terms of the ensuite, have you looked at BM White Sand?

Is there 1st floor door color to pair with this with dark hardware? Kind of getting tired of white on white. Using Edgecomb Gray as a main first floor color with SW extra white trim. I kind of want to go darker with the doors but am kind of nervous about pulling the trigger.

Question: if you used edgecomb gray throughout your house as a flat paint, would it work to paint vertical stripes by alternating flat paint with satin finish? I'm thinking of this as a way to separate the dining area from the living area.
If you wanted that effect, it might be worth striping with a clear coat rather than another paint.
Hi. I'm having my sunroom painted this week and picked Edgecombe gray for vaulted shiplap ceiling , revere pewter for the walls and white semi gloss for trim. Now I'm having doubts as to the 2 colors might look too busy. Any thoughts on my choices?
You might be fine either way. The colours have their similarities, so it should be a fairly subtle difference.

I live in an old character house that has walnut baseboards, window trim & mantel. Would Edgecomb look okay with that trim colour?
I would say so! You could even go a bit darker with Revere Pewter if you wanted. Either would be fine!

Check out the room simulator on the Benjamin Moore website! It gives the option "Try Iit In A Room" and you can select the wall, trim, accent colours!

It should work, because they're both warm. You could always try it out, and if you don't like the look, then you could adjust the trim for a lighter shade.
What is the difference between baby fawn and Edgecomb grey?
I am painting my entire home soon and this is the top colour I found the most nuetral. It is a bit lighter than i am used to, but I don't like the undertones in the darker Revere Pewter. Has anyone seem Edgecomb Grey darkened by 25% or 50%?
I think you end up with Revere Pewter if you do that, this goes cozier in artificial lighting, try it in one room, it's not permanent!

It all depends on the company to be honest. But I'm usually good with a lot of the major companies pre-made white paints. They tend to have superior coverage compared to tinted whites, so I don't blame them.

My entire home, including garage, are painted this shade with lighter cabinets and slightly darker countertops. The floors are dark wood look ceramic tiles. It is my intention to try to find an area rug for the open floor plan living room and dining room. Also drapery that is similarly colored. I am using a navy/cobalt color for accent. What do you think?
